Economic assessment of hydrogen fueling station, a case study for Iran

    , Article Renewable Energy ; Volume 33, Issue 12 , 2008 , Pages 2525-2531 ; 09601481 (ISSN) Qadrdan, M ; Shayegan, J ; Sharif University of Technology
    2008
    Abstract
In recent years there have been many efforts to develop a hydrogen energy system in Iran. For instance, the Iranian fuel cell steering committee conducted a project and determined some targets to implement hydrogen in different sectors, especially transportation. In this paper, the costs of building stations and the levelized cost of hydrogen for two types of stations, SMR and electrolysis, with various sizes and capacity factors have been investigated. Also, in the case of electrolysis, hydrogen cost sensitivity to the price of electricity has been examined. According to the cost analysis conducted here, it is understandable that hydrogen costs ($/kg) vary considerably based on station...

Dynamic penalty function method for the side constrained traffic assignment problem

    , Article Applied Mathematics and Computation ; Volume 206, Issue 1 , December , 2008 , Pages 332-345 ; 00963003 (ISSN) Shahpar, A. H ; Zokaei Ashtiani, H ; Babazadeh, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The traffic assignment problem (TAP) is traditionally defined without side constraints. Although introducing side constraints into the TAP is used as a way of refining applied assignment models, it brings some computational difficulties that prevent the refined model from being applicable in real-case problems. In this paper an iterative solution algorithm is developed for TAP with linear side constraints. This method is based on implicitly considering the side constraints by means of adding a dynamic penalty function (DPF) to the link travel times. Each of the iterations of the algorithm is reduced to an unconstrained assignment followed by updating the penalty functions. The unconstrained...

Nonlinear aeroelastic response of slender wings based on Wagner function

    , Article Thin-Walled Structures ; Volume 46, Issue 11 , 2008 , Pages 1192-1203 ; 02638231 (ISSN) Shams, Sh ; Sadr Lahidjani, M. H ; Haddadpour, H ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
This paper presents a method for nonlinear aeroelastic analysis of Human Powered Aircraft (HPA) wings. In this type of aircraft there is a long, highly flexible wing. Wing flexibility, coupled with long wing span can lead to large deflections during normal flight operation; therefore, a wing in vertical and torsional motion using the second-order form of nonlinear general flexible Euler-Bernoulli beam equations is used for structural modeling. Unsteady linear aerodynamic theory based on Wagner function is used for determination of aerodynamic loading on the wing. Combining these two types of formulations yields the nonlinear integro-differentials aeroelastic equations. Using the Galerkin's...

The effect of open trench on active foundation isolation using physical modeling

    , Article 6th International Conference on Physical Modelling in Geotechnics - Physical Modelling in Geotechnics - 6th ICPMG '06, Hong Kong, 4 August 2006 through 6 August 2006 ; Volume 2 , 2006 , Pages 1217-1222 ; 0415415861 (ISBN); 9780415415866 (ISBN) Jafarzadeh, F ; Ghayoomi, M ; Bahmanpour, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Dynamic loads in many projects cause vibration in soil. The propagated energy has a destructive effect on the foundation of the adjacent structures. One of the suitable methods for preventing these harmful waves is active isolation. In this paper the mentioned phenomena is studied by conducting some physical model tests. The loose sandy models are excited by impact type load of a tamper and the response for models with and without trench are measured at different points. Two types of closed form or continuous trenches are used. In closed form trench models, the effect of trench on acceleration attenuation and the ratio of vertical to horizontal accelerations were investigated. In continuous...

Combination of multiple classifiers with fuzzy integral method for classifying the EEG signals in brain-computer interface

    Abstract
In this paper we study the effectiveness of using multiple classifier combination for EEG signal classification aiming to obtain more accurate results than it possible from each of the constituent classifiers. The developed system employs two linear classifiers (SVM,LDA) fused at the abstract and measurement levels for integrating information to reach a collective decision. For making decision, the majority voting scheme has been used. While at the measurement level, two types of combination methods have been investigated: one used fixed combination rules that don't require prior training and a trainable combination method. For the second type, the fuzzy integral method was used. The...
