    Abstract
    Some mechanical and metallurgical properties of hollow and solid long forged products are compared. The metallurgical properties include such micro- and macro-structural characteristics as the grain size and grain flow patterns. Mechanical evaluation was performed by means of hardness testing. Some theoretical analyses were also carried out. The results indicate that the hollow or mandrel forged products possess better properties. Both the mechanical and metallurgical properties are more uniform and homogeneous through the thickness direction in such products.     Abstract
    Physiological and photobiochemical changes and growth in the heterotrophic strain Chlorella vulgaris g120 were studied during trophic conversion from heterotrophic to phototrophic growth regime. After the exposure of the Chlorella g120 culture to light, it revealed a significant activity of the electron transport (450–700 μmol e− m−2 s−1 as measured by chlorophyll fluorescence) and high PSII photochemical yield Fv/Fm between 0.7 and 0.8. Fast fluorescence induction kinetics showed that PSII electron acceptors in the plastoquinone pool remained partly oxidized, indicating no downregulation of PSII electron transport.     Abstract
    The microlensing event OGLE-2015-BLG-0448 was observed by Spitzer and lay within the tidal radius of the globular cluster NGC 6558. The event had moderate magnification and was intensively observed, hence it had the potential to probe the distribution of planets in globular clusters. We measure the proper motion of NGC 6558 ((μcl (N, E) = +0.36 ± 0.10, +1.42 ± 0.10 mas yr-1) as well as the source and show that the lens is not a cluster member. Even though this particular event does not probe the distribution of planets in globular clusters, other potential cluster lens events can be verified using our methodology.     Classic identifiability analysis of flow barriers in incompressible single-phase flow reveals that it is not possible to identify the location and permeability of low-permeability barriers from production data (wellbore pressures and rates), and that only averaged reservoir properties in between wells can be identified.     Abstract
    Context. Caustic crossing is the clearest signature of binary lenses in microlensing. In the present context, this signature is diluted by the large source star but a detailed analysis has allowed the companion signal to be extracted. Aims. MOA 2009-BLG-411 was detected on August 5, 2009 by the MOA-Collaboration. Alerted as a high-magnification event, it was sensitive to planets. Suspected anomalies in the light curve were not confirmed by a real-time model, but further analysis revealed small deviations from a single lens extended source fit. Methods.     Abstract
    Aims. We report the discovery of a planet with a high planet-to-star mass ratio in the microlensing event MOA-2009-BLG-387, which exhibited pronounced deviations over a 12-day interval, one of the longest for any planetary event. The host is an M dwarf, with a mass in the range 0.07 M ⊙ < Mhost < 0.49 M1 at 90% confidence. The planet-star mass ratio q = 0.0132 ± 0.003 has been measured extremely well, so at the best-estimated host mass, the planet mass is mp = 2.6 Jupiter masses for the median host mass, M = 0.19 M ⊙.     From gas-solid carbonation studies and product characterization by XRD, carbon elemental analysis, and TG-FTIR profiling of evolved CO2, the presence of water vapour at high relative humidity (>25% RH) was shown to cause a drastic acceleration in the rate of CO2 absorption into MgO and Mg(OH)2 producing magnesite and hydrocarbonated precursors. From thermogravimetric experiments in the vicinity of the dew point, carbonation was shown to proceeded in steps triggered by spontaneous condensation (and re-evaporation) of water.     In this research a mathematical model for controlled drug delivery of Ibuprofen has been developed which accounts for physical kinetics based upon variations of the drug concentration, size and release time for a spherical drug pill. Through this model, the drug release for three sizes of the active ingredient including; 213nm (representing existence of only diffusion limitations), 515nm (representing existence of only solubility limitations) and 367nm (representing both diffusion and solubility limitations) was calculated. This work is the first report related to evaluating the possibility and efficiency of the grafting of acrylonitrile (AN) onto starch in presence of oxygen.     Acrylonitrile (AN) was grafted onto various natural and modified polysaccharides (i.e., gum arabic, gum tragacanth, xanthan gum, sodium alginate, chitosan, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose, methyl cellulose) by using ceric-carbohydrate redox initiating system.     We study four dimensional N = 2 G2 supersymmetric gauge theory on R3 × S1 deformed by a tree level superpotential. We will show that the exact superpotential can be obtained by making use of the Lax matrix of the corresponding integrable model which is the periodic Toda lattice based on the dual of the affine G2 Lie algebra. At extrema of the superpotential the Seiberg-Witten curve typically factorizes, and we study the algebraic equations underlying this factorization. For U (N) theories the factorization was closely related to the geometrical engineering of such gauge theories and to matrix model descriptions, but here we will find that the geometrical interpretation is more mysterious....

    Abstract
    The presence of cracks in a structure can considerably affect its behaviour. This paper presents a finite element study on the vibration, buckling and dynamic stability behaviour of a cracked cylindrical shell with fixed supports and subject to an in plane compressive/tensile periodic edge load. The effects of crack length and orientation are analysed. Under tension load, the results show that the frequency of the shell initially increases with the load, but then decreases as the load further increases leading to buckling due to tension load. The size and the orientation of the crack and the loading parameter can all have a significant effect on the dynamic stability behaviour of the shell...

    Abstract
    We report the first unambiguous detection and mass measurement of an isolated stellar-mass black hole (BH). We used the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) to carry out precise astrometry of the source star of the long-duration (t E ≃ 270 days), high-magnification microlensing event MOA-2011-BLG-191/OGLE-2011-BLG-0462 (hereafter designated as MOA-11-191/OGLE-11-462), in the direction of the Galactic bulge. HST imaging, conducted at eight epochs over an interval of 6 yr, reveals a clear relativistic astrometric deflection of the background star's apparent position.     Abstract
    We present a combined analysis of the observations of the gravitational microlensing event OGLE-2015-BLG-0479 taken both from the ground and by the Spitzer Space Telescope. The light curves seen from the ground and from space exhibit a time offset of ∼13 days between the caustic spikes, indicating that the relative lens-source positions seen from the two places are displaced by parallax effects. From modeling the light curves, we measure the space-based microlens parallax. Combined with the angular Einstein radius measured by analyzing the caustic crossings, we determine the mass and distance of the lens. We find that the lens is a binary composed of two G-type stars with masses of ∼1.0 M⊙...

    Abstract
    With the decline in oil discoveries over recent decades, it is believed that enhanced oil recovery (EOR) technologies will play a key role to meet energy demand in the coming years. Polymer flooding is used commonly worldwide as an EOR process. In this work, we propose the synthesis of protected polyacrylamide (PAM) nanoparticles (PPNs) with a hydrophobic polystyrene (PSt) shell by one-pot two-step inverse emulsion polymerization, in which the PSt shell was created by surface polymerization.
