    Abstract
    If the double contraction of a stress tensor such as T and rate of a Lagrangean strain tensor such as E, i.e. T : Ė produces the stress power then these stress and strain tensors are called a conjugate pair. The applications of the conjugate stress and strain measures are in the development of the basic relations in nonlinear continuum mechanics analysis such as modeling of constitutive equations of elastic-plastic materials.     Abstract
    In this paper based on the multiplicative decomposition of the deformation gradient, the plastic spin tensor and the plastic spin corotational rate are introduced. Using this rate (and also lograte), an elastic-plastic constitutive model for hardening materials are proposed. In this model, the Armstrong-Frederick kinematic hardening and the isotropic hardening equations are used. The proposed model is solved for the simple shear problem with the material properties of the stainless steel SUS 304. The results are compared with those obtained experimentally by Ishikawa [1].     Abstract
    Using survey data, public awareness of and attitudes toward nanotechnology are examined in Iran (N ≥ 759). Iran is a developing country with a national nanotechnology action plan for a ten year period starting from 2003 and has been active in the field of research and development of nanotechnology meanwhile. First, the results show that majority of people are still not familiar with nanotechnology and perceived risks posed by this technology are not considered to be a lot and most people feel its benefits outweigh the risks.     Abstract
    In this paper, a method for modeling of elastic-plastic hardening materials under large deformations is proposed. In this model the generalized strain rate tensor is used. Such a tensor is obtained on the basis of the method which was introduced by the authors. Based on the generalized strain rate tensor, a flow rule, a Prager-type kinematic hardening equation and a kinematic decomposition is proposed and the governing equations for such materials are obtained.     After an earthquake, the residual stiffness and strength of structural elements are typically estimated based on a qualitative visual inspection of cracks that is prone to error. In this paper a new approach is proposed to automatically estimate the updated stiffness and strength of damaged unreinforced masonry walls by characterization of crack patterns by a mathematical index.     In order to optimize the aging treatment of Mg-1.8Zn-0.7Si-0.4Ca alloy, different times and temperatures of solid solution and age hardening were applied to the alloy specimens. Microstructures and mechanical properties of the specimens were investigated using the optical microscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy equipped with an energy dispersive x-ray spectrometer, x-ray diffraction, hardness, and shear punch tests. The lowest hardness and strength were achieved by solution treating of the alloy at 500 °C for 8 h, presenting the optimal condition for solution treatment of the alloy.
