    Abstract
Conformational diseases, constituting a large number of diseases, have been connected with protein misfolding, leading to aggregation known as amyloid fibrils. Mainly due to the lack of detailed molecular mechanisms, there has not been an effective drug to combat amyloid-associated diseases. Recently, a small organic pyridazine-based molecule (RS-0406) has shown significant reductions in amyloid fibrils in both in vitro and in vivo animal studies. However, no information on molecular details of inhibition for the small molecule has been reported. In this work, we have decided to explore structure-activity relationship of pyridazine-based compounds to investigate structural parameters for...

Predicting anchor links between heterogeneous social networks

    , Article Proceedings of the 2016 IEEE/ACM International Conference on Advances in Social Networks Analysis and Mining, ASONAM 2016, 18 August 2016 through 21 August 2016 ; 2016 , Pages 158-163 ; 9781509028467 (ISBN) Sajadmanesh, S ; Rabiee, H. R ; Khodadadi, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
People usually get involved in multiple social networks to enjoy new services or to fulfill their needs. Many new social networks try to attract users of other existing networks to increase the number of their users. Once a user (called source user) of a social network (called source network) joins a new social network (called target network), a new inter-network link (called anchor link) is formed between the source and target networks. In this paper, we concentrated on predicting the formation of such anchor links between heterogeneous social networks. Unlike conventional link prediction problems in which the formation of a link between two existing users within a single network is...

Simulation of flow of short fiber suspensions through a planar contraction

    , Article Scientia Iranica ; Volume 19, Issue 3 , June , 2012 , Pages 579-584 ; 10263098 (ISSN) Khodadadi Yazdi, M ; Ramazani S. A. A ; Kamyabi, A ; Hosseini Amoli, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    2012
    Abstract
In this study, the flow of a fiber filled viscoelastic matrix through planar contractions is investigated. It was found that by adding fiber to the matrix vortex, the intensity increases. Fiber orientation along "x" and "y" axes was studied too. It was found that fiber orientation could be used for determining the flow regime through the contraction geometry. The rigidity condition of fibers, which needs the trace of the orientation tensor to be unity everywhere in the domain, is correct except near walls and the reentrant corner, which is slightly less than one. In these regions, the stress magnitude is higher, which results in more numerical errors, and which further leads to some error in...

    Abstract
Contraction flow is one of important geometries in fluid flow both in Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. In this study, flow of a viscoelastic fluid through a planar 4:1 contraction with rounded corners was investigated. Six different rounding ratios (RR =0, 0.125, 0.25, 0.375, 0.438, 0.475, 0.488) was examined using the linear PTT constitutive equation at creeping flow and isothermal condition. Then the resulting PDE set including continuity, momentum, and PTT constitutive equations were implemented to the OpenFOAM software. The results clearly show vortex deterioration with increasing rounding diameter, so that when rounding corner exceeds a critical value, the vortex disappears...

Continuous-time user modeling in presence of badges: a probabilistic approach

    , Article ACM Transactions on Knowledge Discovery from Data ; Volume 12, Issue 3 , 2018 ; 15564681 (ISSN) Khodadadi, A ; Hosseini, A ; Tavakoli, E ; Rabiee, H. R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
User modeling plays an important role in delivering customized web services to the users and improving their engagement. However, most user models in the literature do not explicitly consider the temporal behavior of users. More recently, continuous-time user modeling has gained considerable attention and many user behavior models have been proposed based on temporal point processes. However, typical point process-based models often considered the impact of peer influence and content on the user participation and neglected other factors. Gamification elements are among those factors that are neglected, while they have a strong impact on user participation in online services. In this article,...

Solvent effects on the reaction rate and selectivity of synchronous heterogeneous hydrogenation of cyclohexene and acetone in ionic liquid/alcohols mixtures

    , Article Journal of Molecular Catalysis A: Chemical ; Volume 306, Issue 1-2 , 2009 , Pages 11-16 ; 13811169 (ISSN) Khodadadi Moghaddam, M ; Habibi Yangjeh, A ; Gholami, M. R ; Sharif University of Technology
    2009
    Abstract
Synchronous heterogeneous catalytic hydrogenation of cyclohexene and acetone, catalyzed by Pt/Al2O3, was carried out in solutions of 2-hydroxy ethylammonium formate (a room temperature ionic liquid, RTIL) with ethanol and propan-1-ol at 25 °C. Rate constants and selectivity of the reaction (relative to cyclohexene hydrogenation) increase with mole fraction of the ionic liquid (IL). The reactants tendency to the catalyst surface increases by addition of the ionic liquid and thus the reaction rate increases, especially for cyclohexene hydrogenation. Consequently the selectivity to cyclohexene hydrogenation was increased. Single-parameter correlations of log k vs. π* (dipolarity/polarizibility)...

    , Article Monatshefte fur Chemie ; Volume 140, Issue 3 , 2009 , Pages 329-334 ; 00269247 (ISSN) Khodadadi Moghaddam, M ; Habibi Yangjeh, A ; Gholami, M. R ; Sharif University of Technology
    2009
    Abstract
Solvatochromic parameters (E T N , normalized polarity parameter; π, dipolarity/polarizability; β, hydrogen-bond acceptor basicity; α, hydrogen-bond donor acidity) have been determined for binary mixtures of propan-2-ol, propan-1-ol, ethanol, methanol and water with recently synthesized ionic liquid (IL; 2-hydroxyethylammonium formate) at 25 °C. In all solutions except aqueous solution, E T N values of the media increase abruptly with the ILs mole fraction and then increase gradually to the value of pure IL. A synergistic behavior is observed for the α parameter in all solutions. The behavior of π and β are nearly ideal for all solutions except for solutions of methanol with the IL. The...

    2008
    Abstract
Heterogeneous catalytic hydrogenation of cyclohexene, catalyzed by Pt/Al2O3, was carried out in solutions of 2-hydroxyethylammonium formate (a room temperature ionic liquid, RTIL) mixed with methanol, ethanol and propan-2-ol at 25 °C. The rate constants of the reaction in ionic liquid alcohol mixtures were higher than alcohol alone. First-order rate constant of the reaction in the RTIL relative to propan-2-ol is approximately 28. Furthermore, the rate constant of the reaction increases with the mole fraction of the ionic liquid. Single-parameter correlations of log k vs. normalized polarity parameter (ETN), hydrogen-bond acceptor basicity (β) and hydrogen-bond donor acidity (α) do not give...

Peer-to-Peer Compressive Sensing for Network Monitoring

    , Article IEEE Communications Letters ; Volume 19, Issue 1 , September , 2015 , Pages 38-41 ; 10897798 (ISSN) Fattaholmanan, A ; Rabiee, H. R ; Siyari, P ; Soltani Farani, A ; Khodadadi, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Monitoring large-scale networks is a critical yet challenging task. Enormous number of nodes and links, limited power, and lack of direct access to the entire network are the most important difficulties. In applications such as network routing, where all nodes need to monitor the status of the entire network, the situation is even worse. In this letter, a collaborative model in which nodes pick up information from measurements generated by other nodes is proposed. Using this model, for the first time, an upper bound is derived for the number of measurements that each node must generate, such that the expected number of measurements observed by each node is sufficient to provide a global view...

The Role of Safety Attitudes and Attitudes Toward Vehicle in Urban Crashes

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Khodadadi, Ali (Author) ; Kermanshah, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Nearly 1.2 million people die in road crashes each year, and as many as 50 million are injured in the world. In Iran, approximately 800 thousand crashes occur annually killing up to 43 people per day. Given that over 90% of accidents are related to human factors, using models that incorporate driver’s attitudes and behavior can be highly predictive of crashes. The main objective of the current research is to examine the impact of drivers’ attitudes on road crashes along with other factors such as socio-demographic characteristics and vehicle type. This study uses data from a self-completed questionnaire among a representative sample of Iranian drivers living in Tehran. The Questionnaire...

    Abstract
Nowadays integrated circuits are extremely vulnerable to hardware trojans (HT). Hardware trojans can be injected into the ICs in design or fabricate phase, and damage system’s functionality or security. In this thesis, we first describe hardware trojan definition, classification and types of HTs, negative effects, detection ways and analysis of them. Then we propose a new solution in order to solve the negative points of previous methods

Recorded outputs consist of six different variables: RPM, Exhaust gas temperature, Throttle command, Fuel pump voltage, Thrust and Fuel weight. In the second part, for analyzing data, we used...

Feasibility Study of Rapid Estimation of SF Parameter of Cells Using the Monte Carlo Simulation of Carbon Therapy in Combination with Cascade Feed-forward Neural Network (CFNN) by Bayesian Regularization Learning Algorithm

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Khodadadi, Rezvan (Author) ; Vosoughi, Naser (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Our main goal in this project is to calculate the cell survival fraction (SF) in unhealthy tissue after carbon ion beams are emitted and hit the target tissue. At present, in the stages of carbon therapy, it usually takes a long time to make the necessary calculations for that particular person, and this makes the treatment process progress slowly, but in this project, we intend to address this problem with Eliminating the use of neural network. The main reason is the use of carbon ions to increase efficiency in the treatment of tumors and deep cancerous tissues. To do this project, we first convert the carbon ion energy to the dose absorbed at the desired point. For this phase of the...

Effects of Microstructure and Salinity Concentration on Hydraulic Conductivity of Silty Clay Soils

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Khodadadi, Saeed (Author) ; Sadeghi, Hamed (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Various contaminants and their leachate, when they penetrate into the soil, cause changes in soil microstructure, this change in microstructure leads to changes in soil permeability and volume. In this study, first, the effects of soil microstructure change on the hydraulic conductivity of saturated soil were investigated using the change in initial saturation degree during compaction for compacted samples and the change in sample construction in reconstituted samples. Also, the simultaneous effect of changing the initial microstructure and salt solution on the hydraulic conductivity of saturated silty clay soils using a three-axial permeability device with the ability to measure volume...

Numerical Solution of Hypersonic Axisymmetric Flows Including Real Gas Effects Using Compact Finite-Difference Scheme

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Khodadadi, Polin (Author) ; Hejranfar, Kazem (Supervisor)
    Abstract

The numerical solution of the parabolized Navier-Stokes (PNS) equations for accurate computation of hypersonic axisymmetric flowfield with real gas effects is obtained by using the fourth-order compact finite-difference method. The PNS equations in the general curvilinear coordinates are solved by using the implicit finite-difference algorithm of Beam and Warming type with a high-order compact accuracy. A shock fitting procedure is utilized in the compact PNS scheme to obtain accurate solutions in the vicinity of the shock. To stabilize the numerical solution, numerical dissipation term and filters are used. The main advantage of the present formulation is that the basic flow variables...

Analysis and Modeling of User Behavior over Social Media

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Khodadadi, Ali (Author) ; Rabiee, Hamid Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Nowadays many of us spend a big part of our daily times on social media. One of the most important research problems in social media analysis is how to engage users. The trace of user activity over these websites is a valuable resource for user understanding and engagement, but this data is very huge and unstructured. An approach to deal with this problem is user behavior modeling. In this process, first a behavioral model is considered for users, then using the activity data and the behavioral model, some parameters are learned. Finally, using the learned parameters, a user profile is constructed for each user. This profile can be used for user engagement and many other applications....

The ion streaming effect on weibel instability in the relativistic dense plasma

    , Article Contributions to Plasma Physics ; Volume 57, Issue 8 , 2017 , Pages 351-356 ; 08631042 (ISSN) Khodadadi Azadboni, F ; Mahdavi, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2017
    Abstract
The Weibel instability plays an important role in stopping hot electrons and energy deposition mechanism in fast ignition of inertial fusion process. In this paper, the ion Weibel instability in counter propagating electron-ion plasmas is investigate. The obtained results show that the growth rate of Weibel instability will be decreased about 40% with the anisotropy velocity as vxe = 2vze = 20; the ion density ratio, b = n0i1/n0i2, and density gradient, are increasing 50 and 90% respectively. The ion streaming in density gradient of dense plasma leads to increasing the Weibel instability growth rate and its amplification through ion streaming in the large wavenumber. The maximum unstable...

ChOracle: A unified statistical framework for churn prediction

    Abstract
User churn is an important issue in online services that threatens the health and profitability of services. Most of the previous works on churn prediction convert the problem into a binary classification task where the users are labeled as churned and non-churned. More recently, some works have tried to convert the user churn prediction problem into the prediction of user return time. In this approach which is more realistic in real world online services, at each time-step the model predicts the user return time instead of predicting a churn label. However, the previous works in this category suffer from lack of generality and require high computational complexity. In this paper, we...
