    Abstract
Rewarding system is one of the most important and basic subsystem of human resources and it is one of the main concerns of the managers in any organization, since an appropriate bonus payment system increases motivation and efficiency of individuals and vice versa an inappropriate rewarding system provokes frustration in staff .Rewarding system is more important in project-oriented organizations because the most influential factor in the success and profitability of the organizations is motivated employees. The basic question in this study is that what kind of payment reward a project-oriented organization should have in order to get its employees motivation and ultimately make the...

Modeling the Gravity Drainage during Miscible Gas Injection in Fractured Reservoirs

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezaei, Hojjat (Author) ; Masihi, Mohsen (Supervisor) ; Ghazanfari, Mohammad Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The production of oil is challenging in the fractured reservoirs due to the large transmissibility contrast between matrix and fracture, and primary recovery is often low. The recovery efficiency depends on the relationship between the fracture and matrix permeability, and is strongly dependent on the wettability of the matrix, which reflects the imbibition potential of the reservoir. Among these parameters the multiphase fluid flow in gas invaded zone is the point of interest in this project. Gas injection in naturally fractured reservoirs maintains the reservoir pressure, and increases oil recovery primarily by gravity drainage and to a lesser extent by mass transfer between the flowing...

    Abstract
In the present research, proton exchange membranes based on partially sulfonated poly (ether sulfone) (S-PES) with various degrees of sulfonation were synthesized. It was found that the increasing of sulfonation degree up to 40% results in the enhancement of water uptake, ion exchange capacity and proton conductivity properties of the prepared membranes to 28.1%, 1.59 meq g -1, and 0.145 S cm -1, respectively. Afterwards, nanocomposite membranes based on S-PES (at the predetermined optimum sulfonation degree) containing various loading weights of organically treated montmorillonite (OMMT) were prepared via the solution intercalation technique. X-ray diffraction patterns revealed the...

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Rezaei, Fatemeh (Author) ; Hossein Khalaj, Babak (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Caching has been widely considered an efficient way of reducing and balancing the growing traffic in communications networks in recent years. In this thesis, for the first time, the stochastic requests traffic model in communication networks is considered and a performance analysis is provided based on such a realistic assumption. In addition, we introduce new comprehensive performance metrics which simultaneously take into account, the cache hit probability, load on the bottleneck links, and requests arrival rates. The main contribution of this thesis is to present a system model based on queuing theory and provide an analysis of the stability, maximum stable throughput, load on the...

Developing a Control Algorithm for the new Power Quality Device (HPFC)

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezaei Zavieh, Ali (Author) ; Mokhtari, Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Non-linear loads have been increasing in industries resulting in high levels of harmonics in power networks. Harmonics have several negative effects including higher energy losses and lifespan reduction in equipment due to thermal loss. To reduce the levels of harmonics and consequently reduce the losses in power networks different methods of harmonic suppression have been employed. These methods are normally used at the customer’s side. In all of these methods, the idea is to prevent harmonics from flowing into a power network at the Point of Common Coupling (PCC). This research tries to reduce the harmonic losses by controlling the harmonic flow in a power network. Therefore, the solution...

Optimal Uncoded Cache Placement Policy by Markov Decision Process

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezaei, Elahe (Author) ; Hossein Khalaj, Babak (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Replicating server information at shorter distances from users and delivering them at more suitable times, decreases average delay of serving requests as well as balancing backhaul link traffic. Due to limited cache size, cache placement strategies play key role in efficiency of such approaches. Well-known heuristic caching mechanisms such as Least Frequently Used (LFU) and Adaptive Replacement Cache (ARC), while quite efficient in terms of complexity, are not optimal in terms of hit rate which is the key caching performance index. In this paper, we address the optimal cache placement problem from an analytic Markov Decision Process (MDP)-based view to maximize cache hit rate. In this...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezaei, Farzam (Author) ; Jahangir, Amir Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Today, with the increasing expansion and development of computer networks and information technology, network security has become an important concern for experts and researchers in this field. One of the main elements in the field of information and network security are intrusion detection systems. To maintain the accuracy and quality of these systems, we need to test and evaluate them frequently. The datasets of intrusion detection systems are one of the main tools for evaluating these systems. The quality and accuracy of these systems in detecting anomalies and attacks in the network largely rely on rich and complete data. Also, the main component of this datasets is the traffic data,...

A Deductive Method to Prove Mathematical Theorems

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mohammad Rezaei, Mojtaba (Author) ; Ardeshir, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Automatic theorem proving has been attractive in artificial intelligence (AI). The aim of the usual automatic theorem proving methods is applying of the mathematical logic rules to decide intelligently, and reasoning automatically. In contrast the aim of our research is to apply computers abilities and artificial intelligence methods to simulate human abilities to prove mathematical theorems. For this purpose, we invent a typed formal language (TFL) to describe mathematical theories. The language must be clearly computable and should cover the First Order Logic (FOL) and the usual mathematical sentences. Then some algorithms and inference rules to compare sentences conceptually are...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezaei, Sabereh (Author) ; Shahrokhi, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The Smith Predictor does not work for unstable plants; therefore a lot of modifications have been proposed in order to solve this problem. In this project, advantages and disadvantages of most of these methods are studied in a general framework and based on Diophantine equation and using pole-placement technique. a discrete control scheme for unstable processes has been proposed. This structure can be used for non-minimum phase and stochastic processes. Robust stability of the suggested control structure has been shown. Performance of the proposed method is compared with previous works through computer simulations and its superiority for robust stability, load rejection; set-point tracking...

Numerical Analysis of an Afterburner Combustion Stability

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezaei, Vahid (Author) ; Farshchi, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Inlet flow of afterburners comes from the burnt products of the primary combustion chamber. The fuel is injected and the mixture is ignited to form a flame which is stabilized behind a flameholder in the afterburner. Flame stability stems from wake (recirculation zone) of flameholder. With the aid of high residence time of flow behind the flameholder reactants get the time to catch activation energy. Some parameters like oxygen content, mass flow rate, inlet temperature, and nozzle area ratio play an important role in afterburner combustion efficiency and flame stability. In this study we focused on afterburner combustion stability in GE J85-21 engine. This engine will be in service through...

Distributed Tracking in Smart Camera Networks

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezaei Hosseinabadi, Fatemeh (Author) ; Hossein Khalaj, Babak (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Human tracking is an essential step in many computer vision-based applications. As single view tracking may not be sufficiently robust and accurate, tracking based on multiple cameras has been widely considered in recent years. This thesis presents a distributed human tracking method in a smart camera network and introduces a particle filter design based on Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG) and color histogram. The proposed adaptive motion model also estimates the target speed from the history of its latest displacement and improves the robustness of the tracker by decreasing the probability of missing targets. In addition, a distributed data fusion method is proposed which fuses the...

An Introduction to the Representation of a Descriptive Model Based on the Effective Factors in Human Decision Making

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezaei, Mohammad Reza (Author) ; Eshghi, Kourosh (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Regarding recent progress in the field of decision theory and the discovery of the important factors in human decision making, it is suggested by researchers to build up models that take all of, or at least most of, those factors into account simultaneously. In this research, first, we present some important achievements in the field of decision theory then develop a model based on these factors. Therefore, we focus on influential factors in human decision making, especially recent ones in neuroeconomics and mathematical models are presented to describe their effects. Then a descriptive model is proposed and changed it to a prescriptive model by adding some assumptions and standard charts....

    Multi-period Value-at-Risk Forecasting

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezaei, Mohammad Hosein (Author) ; Barakchian, Mahdi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Multi-period Value-at-Risk (VaR) forecasting is important for risk management. Financial institutions especially commercial banks according to Basel Committee regulations for capital adequacy in “Internal Approach”, should forecast their VaR for multi-period horizons (longer than one day). The most conventional approach for forecasting multi-period VaR is scaling one-day forecasted VaR that is called “square root of time rule”; therefore most works in this area have been focused on forecasting one-day VaR. In this study, we review performance of a wide range of different methods in forecasting multi-period VaR. The results of our study show that historical simulation performs weakly in...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezaei, Davood (Author) ; Tavazoei, Mohammad Saleh (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The main effort of this thesis is to present a numerical method to simulate and implement a special type of controllers, called proportional-weighted integral (PWI) controllers. For this purpose, at first mathematical equations of the fractional order proportional-integral controllers have been investigated in the time domain, and then by generalization of these controllers, the PWI controllers are achieved. Next the discretization of these controllers are carried out and the performance of the controllers are simulated by means of this discretization and comparison between these controllers and the conventional PI controllers has been held. After that a method for estimation of these...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezaei Dastjerdehei, Mohammad Reza (Author) ; Shamsollahi, Mohammad Bagher (Supervisor)
    Abstract
There are several methods for EEG state detection, and there are still many challenges. Switching Kalman Filter (SKF) is a suitable approach for state detection, which has been used in various applications such as QRS detection in ECG signal, apnea detection using ECG signal, and also hand path detection using EEG signal. Our goal here is to use Switching Kalman Filter (SKF) in order to detect changes in EEG signal, and in particular in sleep. In other words, we want to detect Sleep Stages. Here, detecting Sleep Stages will help doctors diagnose and treat diseases. There is a Kalman Model for each Stages of Sleep in SKF, that I model it with a AR model. In addition, SKF switch is a state...

    Online Conflict-free Coloring Of Intervals

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rezaei Seraji, Mohammad Javad (Author) ; Abam, Mohammad Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis, we consider the problem of online conflict-free coloring for regions. First, we analyze online variant of the conflict-free coloring of intervals on the line, where each newly inserted interval must be assigned a color upon insertion such that the coloring remains conflict-free, i.e. for every point p in the union of the current intervals, there must be an interval I with a unique color among all intervals covering p. we present deterministic algorithm for achieving this goal which uses O(log^3⁡n) color. Next, we consider the online conflict-free coloring of nearly-equal axis-parallel rectangles in the plane and present a deterministic algorithms which uses O(log^12⁡n)...
