    , Article Journal of Power Sources ; Volume 188, Issue 2 , 2009 , Pages 404-410 ; 03787753 (ISSN) Reyhani, A ; Mortazavi, S.Z ; Moshfegh, A.Z ; Golikand, A.N ; Amiri, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2009
    Abstract
Hydrogen storage capacities of raw, oxidized, purified and Fe-doped multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were studied by electrochemical method. Based on transmission electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopic data, thermal oxidation removed defective graphite shells at the outer walls of MWCNTs. The analysis results indicated that the acid treatment dissolved most of the catalysts and opened some tips of the MWCNTs. Thermal gravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry results illustrated that by oxidation and purification of MWCNTs, the weight loss peak shifts toward a higher temperature. N2 adsorption isotherms of the purified and oxidized MWCNTs showed an increase in N2...

A low overhead fault detection and recovery method for the faults in clock generators

    , Article 2009 IEEE Circuits and Systems International Conference on Testing and Diagnosis, ICTD'09, Chengdu, 28 April 2009 through 29 April 2009 ; 2009 ; 9781424425877 (ISBN) Karimpour Darav, N ; Amiri, M. A ; Ejlali, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In many synchronous digital systems especially those used in mobile applications, the system is exposed to sever shaking that may lead to a failure in the clock generator. In this paper we present an effective method to tolerate the faults on the clock signal that are due to defects in external oscillators. Our technique utilizes no Phase-Lock Loops (PLL), no Delay-Locked Loops (DLL) and no high frequency oscillators because of their drawbacks so that it needs neither more effort to meet Electro-Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) and requirements nor extra hardware to implement DLLs. We have formally evaluated the meta-stability of our technique. This evaluation shows that our technique reliably...

Voltammetric determination of thiocytosine based on its electrocatalytic oxidation on the surface of carbon-paste electrode modified with cobalt schiff base complexes

    , Article Journal of Solid State Electrochemistry ; Volume 11, Issue 8 , 2007 , Pages 1133-1138 ; 14328488 (ISSN) Shahrokhian, S ; Amiri, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2007
    Abstract
The electrochemical oxidation of thiocytosine on the surface of carbon-paste electrode modified with Schiff base (salophen derivatives) complexes of cobalt is studied. The effect of the substituents in the structure of salophen on the catalytic property of the modified electrode is investigated by using cyclic and differential pulse voltammetry. Cobalt (II)-5-nitrosalophen, because of its electrophilic functional groups, leads to a considerable enhancement in the catalytic activity, sensitivity (peak current), and a marked increase in the anodic potential of the modified electrode. The differential pulse voltammetry is applied as a very sensitive method for the detection of thiocytosine. The...

Multi-walled carbon nanotube paste electrode for selective voltammetric detection of isoniazid

    , Article Microchimica Acta ; Volume 157, Issue 3-4 , 2007 , Pages 149-158 ; 00263672 (ISSN) Shahrokhian, S ; Amiri, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2007
    Abstract
A multi-walled carbon nanotube paste electrode (MWCPE) is prepared as an electrochemical sensor with high sensitivity and selectivity in responding to isoniazid. The electrochemical oxidation of isoniazid is investigated in buffered solution by cyclic and differential pulse voltammetry. The electrode is shown to be very effective for the detection of isoniazid in the presence of other biological reductant compounds. The electrochemical oxidation of cysteine, due to the high overvoltage, is completely stopped at the surface of MWCPE. The electrode exhibits a very good resolution between the voltammetric peak of isoniazid and the peaks of ascorbic acid (AA) and dopamine (DA). A resolution of...

Nucleophilic addition of thiaproline to electrochemically derived o-quinone, application to the sensitive voltammetric detection of thiaproline

    , Article Electroanalysis ; Volume 18, Issue 22 , 2006 , Pages 2225-2231 ; 10400397 (ISSN) Shahrokhian, S ; Amiri, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2006
    Abstract
The mechanism of electrochemical behavior of catechol in the presence of thiaproline is investigated by cyclic voltammetry, controlled-potential coulometry and spectrophotometric tracing of the reaction coordinate. The results indicate that thiaproline participate in with an ECEC mechanism in a nucleophilic (Michael) addition to o-quinone. Effect of pH of buffer solution on reaction pathway is studied and showed that addition of thiaproline to the o-quinone is performed only in solutions with pHs higher than 5. These results indicate that the addition of thiaproline is occurred first from amine functional group. In the second step, the addition of carboxylate group of thiaproline to C-5 of...

Development of energy management system for A parallel hybrid electric vehicle using fuzzy logic

    Abstract
In this paper a fuzzy power controller for a parallel hybrid passenger car is developed in order to minimize its fuel consumption and optimize its components efficiencies. This is done by controlling the engine operating points in its optimal region and maintaining the SoC of batteries and electric motor operating point at the highest possible efficiency. Of course the designed control strategy must be able to obey the driver's commands and achieve the PNGV regulations. The controller implemented in this paper is a Mamdani fuzzy logic controller which takes the batteries SoC, electric motor's speed, ICE speed and the total demanded torque as its input variables and gives the ICE torque as...

Mercaptotriazole as a nucleophile in addition to o-quinone electrochemically derived from catechol: Application to electrosynthesis of a new group of triazole compounds

    , Article Electrochemistry Communications ; Volume 7, Issue 1 , 2005 , Pages 68-73 ; 13882481 (ISSN) Shahrokhian, S ; Amiri, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2005
    Abstract
Electrochemical oxidation of catechol in the presence of 3-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole (MTA) as a nucleophile in aqueous buffered solutions was studied by cyclic voltammetry and controlled-potential coulometry. The mechanism of electrochemical reaction is confirmed by spectrophotometric tracing in various times of controlled-potential coulometry. The voltammetric and spectrophotometric foundations indicate that a 1,4 Michael addition of MTA from its thiol moiety to the electrochemically derived o-quinone is occurred. The electrochemical synthesis of Michael addition product has been successfully accomplished by controlled-potential coulometry in a divided H-type cell and the reaction product was...

    Abstract
This paper introduces a quantization noise robust algorithm for object's shape prediction in a video sequence. The algorithm is based on pixel representation in the undecimated wavelet domain for tracking of the user-defined shapes contaminated by the compression noise of video sequences. In the proposed algorithm, the amplitude of coefficients in the best basis tree expansion of the undecimated wavelet packet transform is used as feature vectors (FVs). FVs robustness against quantization noise has been achieved through inherent denoising and edge component separation in the best basis selection algorithm. The algorithm uses these FVs to track the pixels of small square blocks located at the...
