    A novel robust model reference adaptive impedance control scheme for an active transtibial prosthesis

    Abstract
    In this paper, a novel robust model reference adaptive impedance control (RMRAIC) scheme is presented for an active transtibial ankle prosthesis. The controller makes the closed loop dynamics of the prosthesis similar to a reference impedance model and provides asymptotic tracking of the response trajectory of this impedance model. The interactions between human and prosthesis are taken into account by designing a second-order reference impedance model. The proposed controller is robust against parametric uncertainties in the nonlinear dynamic model of the prosthesis.     A novel fault-tolerant model predictive control (MPC)-based trajectory tracking approach for an aerial vehicle is presented in this study. A generalised online sequential extreme learning machine is introduced first to identify the corresponding coefficients of actuator faults. Subsequently, a robust trajectory tracking control is developed based on MPC, where the system constraints can be effectively considered in the designed control scheme.     This paper studies the decentralized control of a swarm of quadrotors on the basis of the nonlinear, highly-coupled, and under-actuated dynamic model of quadcopters. The swarm of quadcopters must illustrate the desired swarm behavior as fast as possible while collision avoidance is preserved during the entire evolution process.     A vector bond graph approach for dynamic modeling of human musculo-skeletal system is addressed in this article. In the proposed model, human body is modeled as a ten-segment, nine degree of freedom, mechanical linkage, actuated by ten muscles in sagittal plane. The head, arm and torso (HAT) are modeled as a single rigid body. Interaction of the feet with the ground is modeled using a spring-damper unit placed under the sole of each foot.     The flying agility demonstrated by dragonflies is accomplished by means of complex aerodynamic forces produced by flapping their four wings arranged in a tandem configuration. The current study presents a novel tandem flapping wing mechanism for a biomimetic air vehicle that was designed and manufactured to experimentally investigate the aerodynamic forces. By optimizing the configuration and using spatial network analysis, it is shown that the designed structure can flap the wings in a linear up–down stroke motion and is capable of maintaining good consistency and aerodynamic performance.
