, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Daliri, Rasoul (Author) ; Bagheri, Habib (Supervisor)
    Abstract
A novel Fe3O4/poly (aniline-naphthylamine) (ANI-NA)-based nanocomposite was synthesized by chemical oxidative polymerization process as a magnetic sorbent for magnetic solid phase extraction. The extraction efficiency of this sorbent was examined by isolation of rhodamine B (RhB), a mutagenic and carcinogenic dye from aquatic media in dispersion mode. The efficiency of the synthesized Fe3O4/copolymer composite was examined and compared with Fe3O4/polyaniline (PANI) and Fe3O4/polynaphthylamine (PNA) by quantification of RhB using spectrofluorimetry. Among them, Fe3O4/poly (ANI-NA) nanocomposite showed a prominent efficiency. The scaning electron microscopy (SEM) image of the synthesized...

    Abstract
The synthesis of a variety of 2,3-disubstituted quinolines has been achieved successfully via a one-pot three-component reaction of arylamines, arylaldehydes and aliphatic aldehydes in the presence of butylpyridinium tetrachloroindate(III), [bpy][InCl4], ionic liquid as a green catalyst and solvent. Mild conditions with excellent conversions, and simple product isolation procedure are noteworthy advantages of this method. The recyclability of the ionic liquid makes this protocol environmentally benign

    , Article Synlett ; Volume 23, Issue 13 , 2012 , Pages 1995-1996 ; 09365214 (ISSN) Amini, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2012
    Abstract
    (A) Chakraborty and co-workers have developed a green method for the bulk ring-opening polymerization of lactides in the presence of Cu(OAc)2 as a good catalyst to synthesize polymers with different end-terminal groups.3 These polymerizations are highly controlled leading to the formation of polymers with the expected number of average molecular weights and narrow molecular weight distribution. (B) Garden and co-workers have found that the oxidative addition of anilines with 1,4-naphthoquinone to give N-aryl-2-amino-1,4-naphthoquinones can be performed in the presence of catalytic amounts of copper(II) acetate.4 All the reactions are generally more efficient in that they are cleaner, higher...

Reaction kinetics investigation of 1-fluoro-2,4-dinitrobenzene with substituted anilines in ethyl acetate-methanol mixtures using linear and nonlinear free energy relationships

    , Article Journal of Physical Organic Chemistry ; Volume 24, Issue 11 , 2011 , Pages 1095-1100 ; 08943230 (ISSN) Jamali Paghaleh, J ; Harifi Mood, A. R ; Gholami, M. R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Aromatic nucleophilic substitution reaction of 1-fluoro-2,4-dinitrobenzene with para-substituted and meta-substituted anilines was kinetically investigated in the mixtures of ethyl acetate and methanol at room temperature. The correlation of second-order rate coefficients with Hammett's substituent constants yields a fairly linear straight line with negative slope in different mole fractions of ethyl acetate-methanol mixtures. The measured rate coefficients of the reaction demonstrated a dramatic variation in ethyl acetate-methanol mixtures with the increasing mole fraction of ethyl acetate. Linear free energy relationship (LFER) investigations confirm that polarity has a major effect on the...

    Abstract
Aliphatic and aromatic amines undergo smooth nucleophilic addition to α,β-unsaturated compounds in the presence of a catalytic amount of silica-supported aluminum chloride at 60°C and under solvent-free conditions to produce the corresponding β-amino compounds in excellent yields. This method is simple and convenient and works efficiently under mild conditions. This catalyst can used again without losing its activity three times. Copyright © Taylor & Francis Group, LLC

    Abstract
A series of UiO-66/polyaniline (UiO-66/PANI) nanohybrids with various UiO-66 to aniline weight ratios ranging from 0.01 to 0.1 was synthesized using an in situ polymerization technique. The adsorption behavior of the neat PANI nanofiber network and the synthesized nanohybrids was examined toward anionic methyl orange (MO) dye from aqueous media. It was realized that the maximum adsorption capacity of PANI (229 mg/g) increases steadily by increasing the UiO-66 content in the nanohybrid up to 7 wt % at 426 mg/g, and then, it approximately levels off at 432 mg/g for the nanohybrid sample containing 10 wt % UiO-66, that is, UP10. Based on a thorough characterization, it was shown that UiO-66 is...

The majority of PVA template was subsequently removed from the whole PVA/PANI nanofibers blend by exposing the electrospun nanocomposite to hot water. The homogeneity, porosity and characterization of the electrospun nanofibers were investigated by the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. Due to...

    Abstract
Imidazolium-based ionic liquids (ILs) have been perceived as a promising candidate for bridging polyaniline (PANI) on well-dispersed carbon nanotubes (CNTs) via formation of IL-stabilized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) dispersion in which outer walls of CNTs, as well as benzene rings of the aniline monomer and the growing polymer, have been potently effective in such procurement. The sulfonated water-soluble PANI-[C16C1im]Cl-MWCNT nanocomposites (SPANI-IL-MWCNTs) are directly deposited on a graphite-based current collector using a simple and cost-effective electrophoretic deposition (EPD) method. The SPANI-IL-MWCNT electrodes exhibit remarkable electrochemical performance compared to...

The SPME fiber consisted of a thin layer of polyaniline, which was electrochemically coated on a fine Pt wire. The stability of the coating was such that it could be used at temperatures as high as 325 °C, without any deterioration. The effects of various parameters affecting the extraction efficiency were studied, simultaneously. From these, optimization of the extraction temperature, extraction time, coating thickness, sample pH, salt concentration and desorption time was carried out by means of a (26-2) fractional factorial...

Use of biomass-derived glycerol as an alternative to fossil fuels for aniline production: Energy saving and environmental aspects

    , Article Fuel ; Volume 310 , 2022 ; 00162361 (ISSN) Khademi, M. H ; Lotfi-Varnoosfaderani, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd  2022
    Abstract
Catalytic reduction of nitrobenzene is the leading technological step in aniline production. The hydrogen required for this stage, is dominantly produced from fossil fuels through reforming processes, which take much energy and emit large amounts of CO2. Biomass-derived glycerol steam reforming is an attractive alternative to traditional reforming to reduce the dependence on hydrocarbon resources and mitigate climate change. This research aims to analyze a mass- and heat-integrated multi-tubular membrane reactor, containing nitrobenzene hydrogenation (exothermic-side) and glycerol steam reforming (endothermic-side) for co-production of aniline and syngas. In this process, hydrogenation...
