    Abstract
Strong designated verifier signature scheme is a concept in which a user (signer) can issue a digital signature for a special receiver; i.e. signature is produced in such way that only intended verifier can check the validity of produced signature. Of course, this type of signature scheme should be such that no third party is able to validate the signature. In other words, the related designated verifier cannot assign the issued signature to another third party. This article proposes a new ID-based strong designated verifier signature scheme which has provable security in the ROM (Random Oracle Model) and BDH assumption. The proposed scheme satisfies the all security requirements of an...

    Abstract
In software programs, most of the time, there is a chance for occurrence of faults in general, and exception faults in particular. Localizing those pieces of code that are responsible for a particular fault is one of the most complicated tasks, and it can produce incorrect results if done manually. Semi-automated and fully-automated techniques have been introduced to overcome this issue. However, despite recent advances in fault localization techniques, they are not necessarily applicable to Android applications because of their special characteristics such as context-awareness, use of sensors, being executable on various mobile devices, limited hardware resources, etc. To this aim, in this...

    Abstract
Automation systems provide substantial improvement in service reliability through speeding up fault management procedure. However, this is at expense of high investments whose justification needs thorough cost/worth analyses. This paper introduces a mathematical model to optimally place automation system devices within distribution networks. The model establishes a trade-off between service reliability improvements and the relevant costs. Among different automation system devices, fault indicators and remote controlled switches are considered here. Also, the impact of manual switches is regarded since their number and location significantly affect the solution of the placement problem. The...

    Abstract
In this paper, we present a comprehensive analysis of the impact of aging on the interconnection network of field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) and propose novel approaches to mitigate the aging effects on the routing network. We first show the insignificant impact of aging on data integrity of FPGAs, i.e., static noise margin and soft error rate of the configuration cells, as well as we show the negligible impact of the mentioned degradations on the FPGA performance. As such, we focus on the performance degradation of datapath transistors. In this regard, we propose a routing accompanied by a placement algorithm that prevents constant stress on transistors by evenly distributing the...

Financial risk evaluation of RCS deployment in distribution systems

    , Article IEEE Systems Journal ; Volume 13, Issue 1 , 2019 , Pages 692-701 ; 19328184 (ISSN) Izadi, M ; Safdarian, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Remote controlled switch deployment in distribution networks is usually justified via comparing the required investment with the expected decrease in interruption costs. Although the investment is known prior to the implementation, the stochastic nature of contingencies imposes significant uncertainty on interruption costs. The uncertainty may impose substantial financial risks on the distribution company. This paper aims at evaluating the financial risk and key affecting parameters. For doing so, a step-by-step method is presented to evaluate the risk. The method captures the stochastic nature of contingencies through a sequential Monte Carlo simulation approach. A mathematical formulation...

    Abstract
Regarding the increasing number of electrical devices in the smart homes that leads to increase in total electricity consumption and cost, it is essential to use energy management methods to reduce the electricity cost. However, this can cause resident's dissatisfaction. Hence, it is important to define a method in which cost and dissatisfaction be optimized simultaneously. Among different services, an electric vehicle is the one that can be used as an energy storage system, so it can reduce the daily cost despite of increasing the total energy consumption. In this paper, we study the effect of the EV on the cost and dissatisfaction in our proposed method. © 2018 IEEE

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc  2018
    Abstract
The great share of interruptions in distribution networks motivates distribution decision makers to establish various reliability enhancement strategies. Amongst, deploying remote controlled switch (RCS) can make a crucial contribution to the reduction of interruption costs. Nevertheless, the stochastic nature of contingencies affects the RCS worth and imposes substantial financial risk to RCS deployment projects. This paper proposes a mathematical model to consider the risk in the optimal RCS deployment problem. The model determines the number and location of RCSs such that the expected profit is maximized while financial risk is minimized. The risk is modeled through conditional...

Integrated planning for distribution automation and network capacity expansion

    , Article IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid ; 12 July , 2018 , Page(s): 1 - 1 ; 19493053 (ISSN) Heidari, S ; Fotuhi Firuzabad, M ; Sharif University of Technology
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc  2018
    Abstract
Due to the huge amount of resources needed for implementing distribution automation systems (DAS), distribution companies (DISCOs) should develop long term plans for this project. Similarly, DISCOs have network capacity expansion (NCX) plans which specify the scheme of constructing the feeders and substations. Since considering DAS may lead to more efficient NCX plans, the planner should revise the NCX plan through the DAS planning. On the other hand, for DAS planning it is necessary to consider a NCX plan as a platform to determine the time and location for installation of automation equipment. Therefore the planner should simultaneously work on two plans, each of them affects the other. To...

    Abstract
Reliability of machinery and equipment in flexible manufacturing systems are among the most important issues to reduce production costs and to increase efficiency. This paper investigates the reliability of machinery in job shop production systems, where materials, parts, and other production needs are handled by automated guided vehicles (AGV). The failures time of the parallel machines in a given shop follow either an exponential or a Weibull distribution. As there is no closed-form equation to calculate the reliability of the shop in the Weibull case, a simulation approach is taken in this paper to estimate the reliability. Then, a bi-objective nonlinear optimization model is developed...

Characteristics and way of behavior of attacks and infiltrators on computer networks are usually very difficult and need an expert. In addition; the advancement of computer networks, the number of attacks and infiltrations is also increasing. In fact, the knowledge coming from expert will lose its value over time and must be updated and made available to the system and this makes the need for expert person always felt. In machine learning techniques, knowledge is extracted from the data itself which has diminished the role of the expert. Various methods used to detect intrusions, such as statistical models, safe system approach, neural networks, etc., all weaken the fact that it uses all the...

    Abstract
Path planning is crucial in constructability analysis and heavy construction equipment scheduling, particularly in industrial plants. The main purpose of construction equipment path planning is devising the shortest path between its initial and aimed location. This suggested path is supposed to be safe, and collision-free. The current planning practice, even in industrial projects whose sites are extremely congested, is manual based on the expert judgment. Thus, this sophisticated manual process is not only prone to errors, but also time-consuming. This research presents an automated path planning approach based on an obstacle avoidance technique in robotics to support the decision-making...
