    Abstract
Engineering earth-rich, high-efficiency, and nonprecious electrocatalysts is an essential demand for water electrolysis to obtain clean and sustainable fuels. In this research, novel hybrid electrocatalysts based on coupling a hierarchical porous NiCo-mixed metal sulfide with a nanosheet structure (denoted as NiCoS) and a novel three-dimensional (3D) mesoporous open-cage/framelike structure of CoFeS are designed for oxygen evolution reaction (OER). In this regard, the single-step synthesis of a cobalt iron Prussian blue analog (CoFe PBA) frame/cagelike structure was performed without any etching step. Following a comparative study, CoFe PBA precursors were converted and doped with S, Se, and...

Improved method for increasing accessible pores of MIL-101(Cr) by encapsulation and removal of Phosphotungstic acid (PTA): Pd/PTA-MIL-101(Cr) as an effective catalyst for CO oxidation

    Elsevier Ltd  2022
    Abstract
This study forwards a novel and simple approach for encapsulation of Phosphotungstic acid (PTA) into MIL-101(Cr) cavities to develop PTA-MIL-101(Cr) with a high surface area. In this method, the resulting surface area of PTA-MIL-101(Cr) (3563 m2/g) is 1.72 times that of MIL-101(Cr) due to the existence of more accessible pores which are formed by leaching of PTAs incorporated inside MIL-101(Cr) pores during the intense washing. Catalysts are investigated in CO oxidation under atmospheric pressure and feed composition of 1%CO, 20%O2, and 79%He. 3%Pd/PTA-MIL-101(Cr) shows 100%CO conversion at T = 145 °C and outperforms PTA, PTA-MIL-101(Cr), Pd/PTA, 1–3%Pd/MIL-101(Cr), Pd-PTA/MIL-101(Cr), and...

The nanocomposites were prepared via a conventional hydrothermal synthesis or a rapid electrodeposition process, and their structure, morphology, and electrochemical performance toward OER in alkaline solution were compared. To tune the electrocatalytic activity, the mass ratio of CoSe2 to CeO2 was systematically varied. Compared with the hydrothermal synthesis, the...

    Abstract
Methane steam reforming (MSR) is an assuring reaction using steam to produce H2 as clean energy over a nicκel-based catalyst. We synthesized mesoporous monometallic NiMgAl2O4 and bimetallic NiCoMgAl2O4 catalysts in a two-step combustion method using a mix of fuels and powder metallurgy. BET-BJH, XRD, TGA, TPR, FESEM, and EDX-mapping characterized surface area, porosity, morphology, crystalline structure, and metal-support interaction behavior. The products exhibited strong interaction of well-structured MgAl2O4 spinel with NiO, in both specimens. The MSR evaluation tests at 750 °C under atmospheric pressure, CH4:H2O feed ratio of 1:1.2 showed the bimetallic catalyst has the highest...

    Abstract
Developing extremely efficient electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reactions (OER) is a decisive step toward the progression of rechargeable metal-oxygen batteries, CO2 reduction, and water-splitting. Nanoporous high-entropy transition-metal sulfides (np-HETMS) represent a new generation of promising OER catalysts by virtue of their exceptional catalytic activity. However, their synthesis maintains to be a challenge by reason of the thermodynamic immiscibility of the constituting multi-principal metallic elements in the sulfide structure. Herein, for the first time, the np-HETMS ((CoFeNiMnCu)S2) nanoparticles with pyrite-phase was synthesized via a facile and easy adaptable...

    Abstract
In the present study, the ACF-TiO2 catalyst was synthesised and used as a catalyst for the destruction of toxic cyanide in both synthetic and real industrial wastewaters. The ACF-TiO2 catalyst was found to be micro-porous with the BET surface area of 163 m2/g. The effect of different operational parameters such as catalyst concentration, cyanide concentration, operation time, and ozone concentration were target parameters in the present study. The findings show that 500 mg/L of catalyst is the optimum value for the photocatalytical process to completely oxidise 25 mg/L of cyanide within 10 min. While it was found that 300 mg/L of catalyst in the presence of 200 mg/h ozone is enough to remove...

    Abstract
Most of the vehicle pollutants during emission tests are raised from catalyst inefficiency during cold start. Catalysts usually convert harmful emissions only when their temperature reaches around 250 °C to 350 °C. In this research, the vortex tube is implemented to recover the waste heat energy of exhaust gas during the cold start to improve catalyst heating. The experiments are conducted on the turbocharged direct-injection gasoline engine to extract the boundary conditions of numerical simulations. Numerical simulations are performed to evaluate the effects of different hot exhaust mass fractions on the flow regime and waste heat recovery. The results reveal that the level of turbulence...

    Abstract
In order to make a Na–Y zeolite with Si/Al ratio of 2.27 more acidic with a higher volume of mesopores, a combination of different and consecutive methods including; chemical (i.e.; utilizing different compounds, such as NH4F and EDTA) and thermal/hydrothermal (i.e.; implementing calcination/steaming) methods, were employed for modification and dealumination. The combination of acidic-hydrothermal dealumination method led to a further structural collapse compared to that of the acidic calcination. In comparison with the other dealumination methods, the fluorination strategy (i.e.; utilizing NH4F) resulted in a zeolite with higher crystallinity, acidity, and specific surface area. The...

Use of biomass-derived glycerol as an alternative to fossil fuels for aniline production: Energy saving and environmental aspects

    , Article Fuel ; Volume 310 , 2022 ; 00162361 (ISSN) Khademi, M. H ; Lotfi-Varnoosfaderani, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd  2022
    Abstract
Catalytic reduction of nitrobenzene is the leading technological step in aniline production. The hydrogen required for this stage, is dominantly produced from fossil fuels through reforming processes, which take much energy and emit large amounts of CO2. Biomass-derived glycerol steam reforming is an attractive alternative to traditional reforming to reduce the dependence on hydrocarbon resources and mitigate climate change. This research aims to analyze a mass- and heat-integrated multi-tubular membrane reactor, containing nitrobenzene hydrogenation (exothermic-side) and glycerol steam reforming (endothermic-side) for co-production of aniline and syngas. In this process, hydrogenation...
