    Abstract
Solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) is one of the promising candidates for clean energy production. Due to the high operating temperature of SOFCs, a protective coating is commonly applied on the surface of interconnects to prevent oxidation. In this study, electrophoretic deposition was employed to prepare a manganese-cobalt spinel coating on ferritic stainless steel (AISISAE430) substrates. Nanostructured MnCo2O4 powder with an average crystallite size of 60nm was utilized and the sintering behavior of the coatings at different temperatures was studied. Non-isothermal and isothermal sintering behavior of the powder were examined by employing a sensitive dilatometer. Master sintering curve of the...

    Abstract
Conventionally, a film of TiO2 particles of 300 nm size is employed in Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) as the back reflector film to enhance the light harvesting. Perfect reflectance of silver in visible and near infrared motivates to investigate its potential as the material for the light back reflector film in DSCs. In this study, light back reflector films consisting of 300 nm-sized silver particles, as well as vacuum evaporated silver flat film, were fabricated and compared to 300 nm-sized rutile-type TiO2 particulate reflector film to study their optical aspects. Conventional TiO2 rutile-type particulate film demonstrates slightly lower performance...

    Abstract
The equilibrium crystal structure and electronic structure of BaFe2-x Cox As2 (x = 0,1, 2) superconductor have been investigated by using the pseudopotential Quantum Espresso code based on the ab initio density functional theory in the generalized gradient approximation. The equilibrium crystal structure for x = 1.0 has been determined by considering five different Fe/Co configurations. This study shows that the spin calculation is essential to obtain the experimental values at x = 0.0. The total and partial density of states, band structure, and Fermi surfaces of the three compounds has been calculated. Density of states calculation indicates the important...

    Abstract
In this investigation, a spent processing catalyst from one of the oil refineries in Iran was initially characterized physically and chemically. Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans and Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans were used to mobilize aluminum, cobalt, molybdenum and nickel from hazardous spent catalysts. Bioleaching experiments were performed in batch cultures. The growth characteristics of the bacteria (pH, Eh, cell concentration and ferrous and ferric iron concentration) were determined during bioleaching along with the concentration of metal values extracted from the catalyst. The results obtained from Inductive coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) showed that after the...

    Abstract
Understanding the co-crystallization behavior of ternary polyethylene (PE) blends is a challenging task. Herein, in addition to co-crystallization behavior, the rheological and mechanical properties of melt compounded high density polyethylene (HDPE)/low density polyethylene (LDPE)/Zeigler − Natta linear low density polyethylene (ZN-LLDPE) blends have been studied in detail. The HDPE content of the blends was kept constant at 40 wt% and the LDPE/ZN-LLDPE ratio was varied from 0.5 to 2. Rheological measurements confirmed the melt miscibility of the entire blends. Study of the crystalline structure of the blends using DSC, wide angle X-ray scattering, small angle X-ray scattering and field...

    Abstract
Three different spinel metal oxide catalytic systems including NiFe2O4, CuFe2O4 and CoFe2O4 were synthesized using co-precipitation technique and their catalytic activities were compared to each other in α-arylation of oxindole derivatives under the optimized reaction conditions. Both nickel ferrite and copper ferrite magnetic nanoparticles show approximately the same behavior in these reactions but cobalt ferrite ones indicate slightly different properties and were not as good as the other two catalysts. These superparamagnetic catalysts allowed that α-arylation of different types of oxindoles will occur in high yields under mild conditions and at very short times

    Abstract
Energy and environment crises motivated scientists to develop sustainable, renewable, and clean energy resources mainly based on solar hydrogen. For this purpose, one main challenge is the low cost flexible substrates for designing earth abundant efficient cocatalysts to reduce required water oxidation overpotential. Here, a systematic morphological and electrochemical study has been reported for cobalt oxide/hydroxide nanoflakes simply electrodeposited on four different commercially available substrates, titanium, copper sheet, steel mesh, and nickel foam. Remarkable dependence between the used substrate, morphology, and electrocatalytic properties of nanoflakes introduced flexible porous...

    Abstract
This study investigates the effects of uncertainties in the prediction of creep-fatigue crack propagation in 316L(N) austenitic stainless steel plates containing a semi-elliptical surface defect. Different parameters in geometry, material behavior and test condition are considered as random variables in probabilistic assessments. Monte-Carlo sampling method is employed to estimate the probability distribution of desired outputs such as propagated crack sizes, stress intensity factors and creep rupture life. It is shown that, the standard deviation of the predicted crack sizes in both through-wall direction and along the surface of the plate will be increased by increasing the time (hence the...

    , Article Journal of Alloys and Compounds ; Volume 748 , 2018 , Pages 679-686 ; 09258388 (ISSN) Jafary Zadeh, M ; Aitken, Z. H ; Tavakoli, R ; Zhang, Y. W ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The demonstration of high entropy alloys (HEAs), or more generally multi-principal-element alloys (MPEAs), which display a greater resistance to softening at elevated temperatures and embrittlement at cryogenic temperatures, has offered an accessible alternative alloying process for materials scientists and engineers. Although solidification is a fundamental process in synthesis of alloys which strongly affects their microstructure and properties, a firm understanding of this process in HEAs is scarce. Here, using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, we study the rapid solidification of the multi-principal-element CoFeNiPd alloy as a prototypical single-phase HEA. Our simulations reveal an...

    Abstract
Thermal-sprayed MCrAlY coatings have become widespread in various industries such as power plants, aeronautics, and oil and gas firms. High-temperature oxidation behavior of these coatings is therefore of significance. Spraying of two prevalent MCrAlY powders (NiCoCrAlY and CoNiCrAlY) on Hastelloy substrate by high velocity oxygen and fuel method and exposing them to 1000 °C air for resolving of their cyclic oxidation behavior are presented in this paper. The coatings were characterized by x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy. The obtained oxidation kinetic indicated that at 1000 °C, the thermally sprayed NiCoCrAlY coating has greater...

    Abstract
In this study, EVAc/PLA/organo clay nanocomposites were prepared via solution mixing method. The SEM images were used to investigate the morphology of nanocomposites revealing no phase separation or agglomeration of disperse phase in EVAc/PLA blends and nanocomposites. SAXS spectra confirmed the intercalated morphology of nanocomposites. Soil burial test were carried out and the rate of degradation of the samples were measured indirectly. Oxygen gas permeability of EVAc was slightly decreased by adding PLA to the matrix, when small loads of clay caused dramatic improvement in barrier properties. Melt rheological frequency sweep test illustrated the compatibility of EVAc with low contents of...
