    , Article Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry ; Volume 823 , 2018 , Pages 146-154 ; 15726657 (ISSN) Shahrokhian, S ; Shamloofard, M ; Salimian, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
The present paper describes a voltammetric sensor based on glassy carbon electrode (GCE) modified with a thin film of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) coated with an electro-polymerized layer of titan yellow-doped over–oxidized polypyrrole (OPPY) for the determination of tizanidine (TIZ). The microscopic structure and surface morphology of the composite film was thoroughly characterized by means of atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) techniques. The effect of various...

    Abstract
Electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) has been studied in 0.1 M of KCl (pH of 6.96), NaHCO3 (pH of 8.3) and K2CO3 (pH of 11.36) cathodic solutions with various counter electrodes including graphite rod, SS316 rod and Pt mesh at different potential ranges on the Znx-Ni1-x bimetallic electrocatalysts. The cyclic voltammetry (CV) measurements and gas chromatography (GC) analysis for the CO2RR showed that...

    , Article Spectrochimica Acta - Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy ; Volume 66, Issue 3 , 2007 , Pages 650-655 ; 13861425 (ISSN) Boghaei, D. M ; Farvid, S. S ; Gharagozlou, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2007
    Abstract
Circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) were used to investigate the interaction between copper(II) complex of compartmental Schiff base ligand (L), N,N′-bis(3-hydroxysalicylidene)ethylenediamine, and bovine serum albumin (BSA) in 0.1 mol dm-3 phosphate buffer solution adjusted to physiological pH 7.0 containing 20% (w/w) dimethylsulfoxide at room temperature. CD spectra show that the interaction of the copper(II) complex with BSA leads to changes in the α-helical content of BSA and therefore changes in secondary structure of the protein with the slight red shift (2 nm) in CD spectra. From the voltammetric data, i.e. changes in...

    , Article Journal of Alloys and Compounds ; Volume 432, Issue 1-2 , 2007 , Pages 74-80 ; 09258388 (ISSN) Jafarian, M ; Azizi, O ; Gobal, F ; Mahjani, M. G ; Sharif University of Technology
    2007
    Abstract
Hydrogen evolution and electrosorption on/in TiHg alloy have been investigated in acidic solution using cyclic voltammetry, open circuit potential transient, steady-state polarization, chronopotentiometry and electrochemical impedance measurements. Comparison has been made with pure Ti. Cyclic voltammetry and open circuit potential measurements show that hydrogen absorption into the electrode material occurs during proton discharge. The steady-state polarization curves in the course of positive and negative potential scans illustrate that the formation of absorbed hydrogen slightly improves the electrocatalytic properties of the electrode. The hydrogen diffusion coefficient into the bulk of...

    Abstract
In this study, we prepared cerium oxide (CeO2) hybridized with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanosheets using the hydrothermal method. CeO2 and CeO2/rGO were evaluated as electrode materials for use in supercapacitor applications. The structure and morphology of the synthesized materials were investigated. Cyclic voltammetry tests determined a high specific capacitance of 581 F g−1 for CeO2/rGO at a scan rate of 10 mV s−1 in 2 M KOH. In addition, the CeO2/rGO electrode retained 91 % of its initial capacitance after 5000 consecutive cycles, thereby indicating its excellent electrochemical stability. The excellent stability of CeO2/rGO was due to a synergistic effect between CeO2 and rGO. CeO2...

Horseradish peroxidase immobilization on amine functionalized carbon nanotubes: Direct electrochemistry and bioelectrocatalysis

    , Article Progress in Reaction Kinetics and Mechanism ; Volume 37, Issue 2 , May , 2012 , Pages 161-172 ; 14686783 (ISSN) Tasviri, M ; Ghourchian, H ; Gholami, M. R ; Rafiee Pour, H. A ; Sharif University of Technology
    2012
    Abstract
Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) was successfully immobilized on amine functionalized TiO 2-coated multiwalled carbon nanotubes (NH 2-TiO 2-CNTs) by a convenient and efficient method. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry and amperometry were applied to characterize the HRP/NH 2-TiO 2-CNT nano-composite. These techniques showed that the NH 2-TiO 2-CNTs greatly enhance the electron transfer between HRP and the modified electrode. Owing to the redox reaction of the electroactive centre of HRP, the HRP/NH 2-TiO 2-CNTs modified electrode exhibited a pair of quasi-reversible peaks with a peak-to-peak separation (ΔE p) of 70.6mV and a formal potential (E 0′) of -367.65mV (versus...

Highly sensitive voltammetric determination of lamotrigine at highly oriented pyrolytic graphite electrode

    , Article Bioelectrochemistry ; Volume 84 , 2012 , Pages 38-43 ; 15675394 (ISSN) Saberi, R. S ; Shahrokhian, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    2012
    Abstract
The electrochemical behavior of lamotrigine (LMT) at the pyrolytic graphite electrode (PGE) is investigated in detail by the means of cyclic voltammetry. During the electrochemical reduction of LMT, an irreversible cathodic peak appeared. Cyclic voltammetric studies indicated that the reduction process has an irreversible and adsorption-like behavior. The observed reduction peak is attributed to a two-electron process referring to the reduction of azo group. The electrode showed an excellent electrochemical activity toward the electro-reduction of LMT, leading to a significant improvement in sensitivity as compared to the glassy carbon electrode. The results of electrochemical impedance...

    Abstract
Three-dimensional gold nanoelectrode ensembles (3D GNE) have proven to be promising nanoelectrodes by representing much higher sensitivity compared to both their 2D nanostructures and bulk counterparts. The sensitivity of 3D gold nanotubes (GNTs) fabricated through electrodeposition inside the pores of polycarbonate templates, was examined toward metronidazole (MTZ) as one of their pharmaceutical applications. The electrochemical behavior of MTZ at the 3D GNT-modified electrode was discussed in detail through cyclic voltammetry (CV) which suggested an irreversible reduction of nitro group to the corresponding hydroxylamine and a subsequently reversible redox peak for the corresponding...

    Abstract
In this study, we have investigated the use of electrodeposited Au-Pt nanoparticles (AuPtNPs) on indium tin oxide (ITO) for the detection of Hg2+ heavy ions in water samples. The mechanism of AuPtNP electrocrystallization on ITO glass in an aqueous solution containing 0.5 mM HAuCl4 + 0.5 mM H2PtCl6 is described for the first time. The nucleation mechanism of monometallic AuNPs on ITO was found to be progressive; however, a transition from progressive to instantaneous was observed for bimetallic AuPtNPs at elevated overpotentials. The modified ITOs were then assessed for the electrodetection of Hg2+ in aqueous media. It was shown by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) that the sensitivity of...
