    Abstract
In this paper we study the effectiveness of using multiple classifier combination for EEG signal classification aiming to obtain more accurate results than it possible from each of the constituent classifiers. The developed system employs two linear classifiers (SVM,LDA) fused at the abstract and measurement levels for integrating information to reach a collective decision. For making decision, the majority voting scheme has been used. While at the measurement level, two types of combination methods have been investigated: one used fixed combination rules that don't require prior training and a trainable combination method. For the second type, the fuzzy integral method was used. The...

    Abstract
In this study, we have proposed a novel method investigates MR-Images for normal and abnormal brains which effected by Alzheimer's Disease (AD) to extract 336 number of different features based on texture analysis. Before applying this algorithm, we have to use a registration method because of variety in size of normal and abnormal images. Consequently, the output of Texture Analysis System (TAS) is a vector containing 336 elements that are features extracted from texture. This vector is considered as the input of the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) which is feed-forward one. The features extracted from the Gray-level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM) have been interpreted and compared with normal...

    , Article Journal of Medical Engineering and Technology ; Volume 37, Issue 1 , 2013 , Pages 43-47 ; 03091902 (ISSN) Tarjoman, M ; Fatemizadeh, E ; Badie, K ; Sharif University of Technology
    2013
    Abstract
Content-based image retrieval (CBIR) has been one of the most active areas of research. The retrieval principle of CBIR systems is based on visual features such as colour, texture and shape or the semantic meaning of the images. A CBIR system can be used to locate medical images in large databases. This paper presents a CBIR system for retrieving digital human brain magnetic resonance images (MRI) based on textural features and the support vector machine (SVM) learning method. This system can retrieve similar images from the database in two groups: normal and tumoural. This research uses the knowledge of the CBIR approach to the application of medical decision support and discrimination...

    Abstract
Content-based image retrieval (CBIR) has turned into an important and active potential research field with the advance of multimedia and imaging technology. It makes use of image features, such as color, texture and shape, to index images with minimal human intervention. A CBIR system can be used to locate medical images in large databases. In this paper we propose a CBIR system which describes the methodology for retrieving digital human brain magnetic resonance images (MRI) based on textural features and the Adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) learning to retrieve similar images from database in two categories: normal and tumoral. A fuzzy classifier has been used, because of the...

    Abstract
In the present work, a thermal modeling is conducted for optimal design of compact heat exchangers in order to minimize cost and entropy generation. In this regard, an εNTU method is applied for estimation of the heat exchanger pressure drop, as well as effectiveness. Fin pitch, fin height, fin offset length, cold stream flow length, no-flow length, and hot stream flow length are considered as six decision variables. Fast and elitist nondominated sorting genetic algorithm (i.e., nondominated sorting genetic algorithm II) is applied to minimize the entropy generation units and the total annual cost (sum of initial investment and operating and maintenance costs) simultaneously. The results for...

    , Article Renewable Energy ; Volume 36, Issue 8 , August , 2011 , Pages 2205-2219 ; 09601481 (ISSN) Hasani Marzooni, M ; Hosseini, S. H ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
This paper proposes a decentralized market-based model for long-term capacity investment decisions in a liberalized electricity market with significant wind power generation. In such an environment, investment and construction decisions are based on price signal feedbacks and imperfect foresight of future conditions in electricity market. System dynamics concepts are used to model structural characteristics of power market such as, long-term firms' behavior and relationships between variables, feedbacks and time delays. For conventional generation units, short-term price feedback for generation dispatching of forward market is implemented as well as long-term price expectation for...
