    Abstract
    This paper presents a new architecture for VCO-based Continuous Time Delta Sigma Modulators. This approach is based on the differential configuration for the quantizer while maintains its inherent dynamic element matching property. Consuming no additional power and area compared to the conventional scheme, this architecture can eliminate the even orders of harmonic distortion and achieve higher linearity. Theoretical analysis for signal to quantization noise, power and area consumption and mismatch effect is provided.     Abstract
    In this paper, we consider the problem of transmitting a Bi-variate Gaussian source S = (S1, S2) over an average-power-limited additive White Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. The receiver wants to estimate both S1 and S2. We propose a new Hybrid Digital Analog (HDA) joint source-channel coding scheme and obtain its achievable distortion region. For comparison, we also obtain an outer bound for the set of all achievable distortion pairs

    Improvement in switching techniques is one of the effective methods for increasing the voltage quality in Multilevel Inverters. In this paper, a novel switching technique using frequency modulation is proposed to achieve high quality output voltage of multilevel inverters. This method is employed to different configurations of multilevel inverters consist of Diode Clamped (or Neutral Point Clamped), Flying Capacitor and Cascaded H-bridge.     Similarity measure is an important part of image registration. The main challenge of similarity measure is lack of robustness to different distortions. A well-known distortion is spatially-varying intensity distortion. Its main characteristic is correlation among pixels. Most traditional intensity based similarity measures (e.g., SSD, MI) assume stationary image and pixel to pixel independence.     Abstract
    In this paper we extended a previously investigated modular method that is designed to compensate for interpolation distortions of one-dimensional signals, to two dimensions (2-D). Next the proposed 2-D modular technique was applied in an iterative fashion and was shown through both simulations and theoretical analyses to enhance the convergence of the iterative technique. In fact, with only a few modules we were able to achieve drastic improvements in signal reconstruction, and with a much less computational complexity. Moreover, both the simulations and the theoretical analysis confirmed the robustness of the proposed scheme against additive noise

    Robustness against attacks is an important requirement in image watermarking. This paper presents a robust watermarking algorithm in wavelet transform domain. Firstly, original image is decomposed into its subbands using three level wavelet transform, then, significant coefficients with the same position in HL, LH and HH subbands of the last level are extracted to make a triplet. To embed a watermark bit into a triplet, the standard deviation of triplet coefficients magnitude is set to zero for zero bit or increased for a one bit.     In a SEnsor Network with Mobile Agents (SENMA) is an architecture proposed for large scale sensor networks. In sensor networks, a fraction of the packets generated by only part of the sensors is sufficient to provide a good estimation of all network information. SENMA uses this inherent redundancy. However, the performance of such system is limited by estimation errors and packet errors due to collision.     Determining the capacity of watermark for images is a complex task. This capacity may be influenced by many factors such as the content of image and also the strength of watermark. In some recent works the image content has been considered for calculation of watermark capacity. One such approach is to use the Noise Visibility Function (NVF) introduced in [3].     In this paper, we have introduced a new approach to deal with motion estimation block distortion measure (BDM) which has a great role in performance comparison of various methods. The proposed method generates lower BDM, by employing transformed matrices of original frames to compute motion vectors regardless of the algorithm employed as motion estimator.     A hybrid video codec, where the intraframe pictures are wavelet-based coded and the interframe pictures are coded with a standard H.263 codec is proposed.     A continuous growth in nonlinear loads may cause an increment in harmonic distortion and some other important problems in power systems so considering power quality effects in optimal reactive power planning has become more crucial than before. In this paper, optimal reactive power planning based on voltage profile deviation and voltage THD decrement is studied. The planning problem is studied using reactive power injection in each bus bar and genetic algorithm is also used for solving optimization problem.     The nonlinear characteristic of an laser diode, LD, impacts on the performance of optical wireless systems using OFDM(orthogonal frequency division multiplexing). First, the influence of the nonlinear characteristic on bit-error performance is analyzed using a high power LD (LML-808.7B-XX). Next, the paper proposes a pre-distorter to compensate the nonlinearities. Finally, the coherent optical OFDM (CO-OFDM) system is considered and the performance without linearization and after linearization is analyzed via simulations in an AWGN (additive white Gaussian noise) environment.     Multiple Description Coding (MDC) is a technique for video transmission over error prone networks where the descriptions are routed over multiple paths. Intra coding like MDC provides error resiliency but coding in this mode must be decided with care since it degrades the compression ratio. In this paper, we present our investigation results for a new intra coding approach in MDC. We have found that, in MDC streams, the best policy is to encode selective frames as I-frame instead of coding some macroblocks of frames in intra mode.
