    Abstract
Dealing with crosscutting requirements in software development usually makes the process more complex. Modeling and analyzing of these requirements in the software architecture facilitate detecting architectural risks early. Distributed systems have more complexity and so these facilities are much useful in development of such systems. Aspect oriented Architectural Description Languages(ADL) have emerged to represent solutions for discussed problems; nevertheless, imposing radical changes to existing architectural modeling methods is not easily acceptable by architects. Software architecture analysis methods, furthermore, intend to verify that the quality requirements have been addressed...

    Abstract
Reliability assessment is of primary importance in designing and planning distribution systems that operate in an economical manner with minimal interruption of customer loads. Distributed generation (DG) is expected to play an increasing role in emerging power systems because they use different type of resources and technologies to serve energy to power systems. DG is expected to improve the system reliability as its backup generation. Since DG units are subject to failures as all other generation units, the random behavior of these units must be taken into account in the analysis. Existence of DG units in a distribution system will effect on restoration time of load points. In this paper,...

    2008
    Abstract
Feeder Automation (FA) has been recognized by researchers and utilities as one of the attractive remedial measures to enhance service reliability in the electric power distribution systems. Until now, several kinds of FA schemes have been developed for automating of distribution feeders. They can be categorized into three main approaches: semiautomatic, distributed and centralized schemes. The challenge for the utilities, especially in today's competitive electricity market, is to identify and evaluate potential FA schemes and determine that appropriate for implementation. In this context, reliability cost/worth assessment plays an important role. This paper aims to propose a step by step...

A logic for multi-domain authorization considering administrators

    , Article 9th IEEE Workshop on Policies for Distributed Systems and Networks, POLICY 2008, Palisades, NY, 2 June 2008 through 4 June 2008 ; 2008 , Pages 189-196 ; 9780769531335 (ISBN) Iranmanesh, Z ; Amini, M ; Jalili, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    2008
    Abstract
In multi-domain environments, authorization policies for each administrative domain are determined by either one administrator or through cooperation of multiple administrators. Proposed logic-based models for multi-domain environments' authorization neither consider an administrator as the legislator of a policy in policies' representation nor specify the domain of a policy explicitly. Considering legislators in policy specification provides the possibility of presenting composite administration and utilizing administrators' characteristics in policy analysis such as conflict resolution. In this paper, we propose the syntax, proof theory, and semantics of a logic in which administrators are...

Distribution system reliability enhancement using optimal capacitor placement

    , Article IET Generation, Transmission and Distribution ; Volume 2, Issue 5 , 2008 , Pages 621-631 ; 17518687 (ISSN) Etemadi, A. H ; Fotuhi Firuzabad, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2008
    Abstract
Failure statistics of most utilities indicate that distribution systems make the greatest individual contribution to the unavailability of supply to customers. Optimal capacitor placement in distribution systems has a number of advantages such as reducing losses, improving voltage profile, improving power factor and so on. The conventional objective function of the optimal capacitor placement consists of the total cost of losses and investments. Since capacitors supply reactive loads locally, they improve the load-carrying capability of the lines and therefore play the same role as redundant lines. Thus, optimal capacitor placement can also improve the reliability indices of a distribution...

    Abstract
Grid computing is a type of parallel and distributed system that provides the possibility of sharing, choosing and collecting the autonomous resources (such as computer, software, databases, and equipments) that are distributed geographically. Resource discovery is one of the key subjects in distributed systems and especially Grids. We should consider that Grid consists of different applications that each of them consist of different hardware and software resources, therefore recognizing these resources is important in a Grid system. Classical approaches to Grid resource discovery are either centralized or hierarchical [1] (and will maybe prove inefficient as the scale of Grid systems...

    Abstract
Given an undirected graph with weights associated with its edges, the Steiner tree problem consists of finding a minimum weight subtree spanning a given subset of (terminal) nodes of the original graph. Minimum Spanning Tree Heuristic (MSTH) is a heuristic for solving the Steiner problem in graphs. In this paper we first review existing algorithms for solving the Steiner problem in graphs. We then introduce a new parallel version of MSTH on three dimensional mesh of trees architecture. We describe our algorithm and analyze its time complexity. The time complexity analysis shows that the algorithm's running time is O(lg2 n) which is comparable with other existing parallel solutions. © 2007...

    Abstract
The widespread application of deep sub-micron and multilayer routing techniques makes the interconnection parasitic influence become the main factor to limit the performance of VLSI circuits. Therefore, fast and accurate 3D capacitance extraction is essential for ultra deep sub-micron design (UDSM) of integrated circuits. Parallel processing provides an approach to reducing the simulation turn-around time. In this paper, we present parallel formulations for 3D capacitance extraction based on P-FFT algorithm, on a personal computer (PC) or on a network of PCs. We implement both vector and parallel versions of 3D capacitance extraction algorithm simultaneously and evaluate our implementation...
