    Abstract
Minimization of drop contact time is so important and critical for applications such as self-cleaning and anti-corrosion. In recent years, surface acoustic waves are presented as a powerful method for the manipulation of the drops. In this manuscript, a numerical study of drop shedding under the effect of acoustic waves is presented, which may have potential use in the anti-icing systems. Therefore, the effects of different parameters, such as acoustic wave frequency, amplitude, and direction of the wave on the water removal, are investigated. For this purpose, a color gradient lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) is developed and used in these simulations. The acoustic actuator effect is added as...

Evaluation the Accuracy of Seismic Force and Equivalent Static Procedure Fit from Nonlinear Dynamic Behavior Perspective

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Pourmohammadi, Mohammad Fazel (Author) ; Alijani Moghaddam, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Since 1906, after the earthquake of Messina in Italy, Italian engineers start developing a new method for increasing the resistance of a structure during an earthquake. With the limitation of time and technology, this method was acceptable for the time period. By developing the accelerographs and seismographs and the methods to process big data, new methods are developed and are being used in designing structures; new technologies allow engineers to analyze the performance of structures with ease. The studies in this research indicates that achieving the safety indices in any design require utilizing all dynamic properties of a structure such as period, stiffness and damping. In this...

An investigation on dynamic behavior of rotating shafts using a pipe elbow finite element formulation

    , Article Engineering Solid Mechanics ; Volume 10, Issue 2 , 2022 , Pages 179-190 ; 22918744 (ISSN) Sajjadpour, M ; Hosseini Kordkheili, S. A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Rotating shafts have a vast application in various industries especially in the aerospace industry such as engines, compressors and turbines. The researchers have performed considerable efforts on the rotating shafts’ dynamic behavior because of their sensitivity to the rotor specifications and different parameters such as supports. In this paper by employing a pipe elbow element, an especial finite element formulation is derived to investigate dynamic behavior of rotating shaft in the presence of support clearance. The proposed element consists of four nodes with twenty-four degrees of freedom, which also accounts for the shear and gyroscopic effects. Within a finite element analysis...

On the theoretical and molecular dynamic methods for natural frequencies of multilayer graphene nanosheets incorporating nonlocality and interlayer shear effects

    Abstract
In this paper, a multiplate nonlocal shear model and molecular dynamic simulations are presented to investigate the effects of interlayer shear and nonlocality on the natural frequencies of multilayer graphene sheets (MLGSs). From one aspect in the optimal design of such structures, the interaction between graphene layers, which can significantly vary the static and dynamic behavior due to lack of solidity of layers stack, should be considered. On the other hand, it is requied that the nonlocality phenomenon which has an effective role in the mechanical analysis of nanostructures is taken into account. To this aim, the equation of motion along with corresponding boundary conditions is...

Dynamical Properties of Rough Delay Equations

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Ghani Varzaneh, Mazyar (Author) ; Zohuri Zangeneh, Bijan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this monograph, we investigate the long-time behavior of stochastic delay equations. Our approach is random dynamical systems, and we solve our equation in the rough path point of view. Namely, we deal with the singular case, i.e., when the delay terms also are appearing in the diffusion part. Although we can solve the equation using the classical tools of stochastic analysis, the main obstacle is the lack of flow property. More precisely, the solution does not depend continuously on the initial value. To solve this problem, we define this property differently. We will show how we can generate a flow property on fields of Banach spaces using rough path theory. As a consequence, we prove...
