    Abstract
Polyaniline/graphene oxide (PANI/GO) co-doped with Zn2+ and Fe3+ was synthesized via a simple and low cost one-step chronoamperometry method on stainless steel (SS) as the substrate. The Fe3+-Zn2+-PANI/GO nanocomposite is characterized using X-ray diffraction as well as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and field emission scanning electron microscopy. Also, cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charge-discharge, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy are used to study the electrochemical performance of the as-prepared electrode materials. Significantly, the Fe3+-Zn2+-PANI/GO nanocomposite exhibits a specific...

    Abstract
SnS2-SnO2 nano-heterostructures are synthesized with two different precursors of thioacetamide (TAA) and thiourea (TU) at various solvent ratios (SR) of ethanol and water by using a facile, economical, scalable, and cost-effective solvothermal method. The obtained products have been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and Brunauer–Emmet–Teller (BET) techniques. It is found that different precursors and various SR values have an influence on the composition and morphologies of the prepared nanostructures, leading to variation in capacitive behavior of the fabricated electrodes....

    Abstract
In this study, the anticorrosive effect of dodecylbenzenesulfonicacid-doped polyaniline nanoparticles [n-PANI (DBSA)] as a conductive polymer was investigated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) techniques. Initially, the n-PANI (DBSA) were successfully synthesized via inverse microemulsion polymerization leading to the spherical nanoparticles with an average diameter less than 30 nm. Two coating systems including 1 wt% n-PANI(DBSA) blended epoxy ester (n-PANI(DBSA)/EPE) and neat epoxy ester (EPE) were coated on the carbon steal substrate. The anticorrosion performance of the prepared coatings was studied using EIS measurement in 3.5%...

    Abstract
The corrosion inhibition effect of zinc acetylacetonate (ZAA) and benzothiazole (BTH) mixture was evaluated for mild steel in 3.5% NaCl solution. To this end, ZAA:BTH mixtures ranged from 6:1 to 1:6 mol ratios were examined by weight loss and open circuit potential to obtain optimal mole ratio. The optimal mixture of ZAA:BTH at 1:5 mol ratio showed a significant corrosion inhibition efficiency proved by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and polarization studies. The addition of the optimal mixture of ZAA:BTH to epoxy coating showed a considerable increase of corrosion protection evaluated by salt spray exposure

Electrophoretic deposition of nano-zirconia coating on AZ91D magnesium alloy for bio-corrosion control purposes

    , Article Surface and Coatings Technology ; Volume 311 , 2017 , Pages 182-190 ; 02578972 (ISSN) Amiri, H ; Mohammadi, I ; Afshar, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B.V  2017
    Abstract
Magnesium alloys are considered as potential biodegradable biomaterials in hard tissue implants. However, the fast degradation rate of these alloys in the biological environment causes failure of the implant just prior to the desirable time. In the present work, in order to decrease and curb the bio-corrosion rate of AZ91D Magnesium alloy, zirconia, which is classified as a biocompatible ceramic, was coated on the alloy surface through electrophoretic deposition (EPD) technique. The effects of alterations in the EPD parameters such as current density, duration time and ZrO2 particles concentration on coating properties including thickness, morphology and adhesion were then characterized....

By electrochemical techniques, the inhibition potency of the CZP nanopigment was examined in a NaCl solution on mild steel (MS) substance and compared with that of ZP. Results revealed a higher corrosion inhibition degree of the CZP compared to the ZP. The growth of a protective layer on the metal coupons exposed to the CZP extract was illustrated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), field emission...

    Abstract
In this study, ultra-fine grained Cu and Cu + carbon nanotube (CNT) nanocomposites were prepared through a processes combining flake powder metallurgy, hot pressing, and high-pressure torsion (HPT). The effects of grain refinement and CNT reinforcement on the microstructure, hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion behavior of the newly developed nanocomposites were investigated. The results indicated that the HPT process decreased the grain size of Cu and Cu + CNT by 67.7% and 68.1%, respectively, and increased their microhardness by 151% and 132%. The addition of CNTs substantially improved the tribological behavior of Cu by generating a mechanically mixed carbon- and oxide-rich layer....

    Abstract
Sulfur doped and pure micro-nanoporous TiO2 film were synthesized with PEO method to produce a film with a high surface area for photocatalysis applications. Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) was carried out in order to determine the corrosion and electrochemical properties of the produced layer. It was found that although the barrier layer resistance decreases with the voltage, the layers porosity and consequently the surface area increases. Finally the XRD and DRS spectrums were correlated with...

AC impedance and cyclic voltammetry studies on PbS semiconducting film prepared by electrodeposition

    , Article Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry ; Volume 661, Issue 1 , 2011 , Pages 265-269 ; 15726657 (ISSN) Aghassi, A ; Jafarian, M ; Danaee, I ; Gobal, F ; Mahjani, M. G ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Semiconducting lead sulfide film was deposited on Stainless Steel (SS) electrode by cyclic voltammetry (CV) at room temperature. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry were used to investigate the electrochemical properties of PbS film in Na2SO4 solution. The voltammetric results showed that oxidative dissolution of PbS film occurred at about 0.21 V vs. Ag/AgCl and total film detachment from the surface occurs with increasing potential. It is concluded that the electrode surface was not passivated by sulfur produced from oxidative dissolution of PbS film. Also, cathodic reduction of the film continued to beyond the hydrogen evolution at -1.35 V vs. Ag/AgCl....

    Abstract
Corrosion of steel rebars in concrete can reduce the durability of concrete structures in coastal environments. The corrosion rate of these concrete structures can be reduced by using suitable concrete additives and coating on rebars. This paper investigates the corrosion resistance of steel rebars by the addition of pozzolanic materials including fly ash, silica fume, polypropylene fibers, and industrial 2-dimethylaminoethanol (FerroGard 901) inhibitors to the concrete mixture. Three different types of rebars including mild steel rebar st37, and two stainless steel reinforcements, AISI 304 and AISI 316, were used. Various types of primer and coating including alkyd based primer, hot-dip...

The synthesis parameters including the reduction time and presence of reduction aid are studied. The structural and morphological studies of the nanocomposites were investigated by using Raman spectra, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and field emission scanning electron microscopy. The results indicate that Fe2O3 nanoparticles with average particle size of 25 nm are well anchored on graphene sheets and the weight percent of the nanoparticles in the nanocomposites was influenced by the reduction...
