A study on the kinetics of Co-Ni/Cu multilayer electrodeposition in sulfate solution

    , Article Materials Chemistry and Physics ; Volume 108, Issue 2-3 , 2008 , Pages 391-396 ; 02540584 (ISSN) Dolati, A ; Mahshid, S. S ; Sharif University of Technology
    2008
    Abstract
Electrodeposition of the Co-Ni/Cu multilayer films was carried out in sulfate solution. Cyclic voltammetry and current transient techniques were utilized to characterize the multilayer system and to obtain the nucleation and growth mechanism. The cyclic voltammograms clearly showed that electrodeposition of cobalt-nickel alloy layer was controlled by a kinetic process, where copper ions were reduced under diffusion-controlled mechanism. In addition, the current transients revealed that nucleation mechanism was instantaneous with a typical three-dimensional growth process. The microstructure of the Co-Ni/Cu films was also changed with overpotential. In this system, the growth of multilayer...

    Abstract
In this study, we have investigated the use of electrodeposited Au-Pt nanoparticles (AuPtNPs) on indium tin oxide (ITO) for the detection of Hg2+ heavy ions in water samples. The mechanism of AuPtNP electrocrystallization on ITO glass in an aqueous solution containing 0.5 mM HAuCl4 + 0.5 mM H2PtCl6 is described for the first time. The nucleation mechanism of monometallic AuNPs on ITO was found to be progressive; however, a transition from progressive to instantaneous was observed for bimetallic AuPtNPs at elevated overpotentials. The modified ITOs were then assessed for the electrodetection of Hg2+ in aqueous media. It was shown by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) that the sensitivity of...

Laboratory detection methods for the human coronaviruses

    , Article European Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases ; Volume 40, Issue 2 , 2021 , Pages 225-246 ; 09349723 (ISSN) Shabani, E ; Dowlatshahi, S ; Abdekhodaie, M. J ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Coronaviruses are a group of envelop viruses which lead to diseases in birds and mammals as well as human. Seven coronaviruses have been discovered in humans that can cause mild to lethal respiratory tract infections. HCoV-229E, HCoV-OC43, HCoV-NL63, and HCoV-HKU1 are the low-risk members of this family and the reason for some common colds. Besides, SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV, and newly identified SARS-CoV-2, which is also known as 2019-nCoV, are the more dangerous viruses. Due to the rapid spread of this novel coronavirus and its related disease, COVID-19, a reliable, simple, fast, and low-cost detection method is necessary for patient diagnosis and tracking worldwide. Human coronaviruses detection...

Percolation of cadmium across a mercury film

    , Article Materials Chemistry and Physics ; Volume 78, Issue 3 , 2003 , Pages 796-799 ; 02540584 (ISSN) Malek, K ; Gobal, F ; Sharif University of Technology
    2003
    Abstract
Electrodeposition/dissolution of cadmium onto a film of mercury shows some deviations from the natural liquidity of mercury caused by the reduction of Cd onto it. Percolation and fractal analyzes were done on the surface and the bulk of the mercury film during diffusion of Cd species (atoms). These show that the fractal dimensions of the Cd-inserted mercury film are about 2.11 and 2.54 near the surface of the mercury film and at deeper points inside the film, respectively. The insertion process has a negligible effect on the surface morphology of the mercury film and there is a phase transition in the bulk, as well as a geometrical transition during the Cd-insertion (de-insertion) process....

    Abstract
Cardiac troponin-I (cTnI) is a well-known biomarker for the diagnosis and control of acute myocardial infarction in clinical practice. To improve the accuracy and reliability of cTnI electrochemical immunosensors, we propose a multilayer nanostructure consisting of Fe3O4-COOH labeled anti-cTnI monoclonal antibody (Fe3O4-COOH-Ab1 ) and anti-cTnI polyclonal antibody (Ab2 ) conjugated on Au-Ag nanoparticles (NPs) decorated on a metal–organic framework (Au-Ag@ZIF-67-Ab2 ). In this design, Fe3O4-COOH was used for separation of cTnI in specimens and signal amplification, hierarchical porous ZIF-67 extremely enhanced the specific surface area, and Au-Ag NPs synergically promoted the conductivity...
