    Abstract
Energy developments plays a crucial role in the political power, economic growth, social development and environmental degradation of developing countries. Energy consumption in residential sector is an essential issue for providing a large variety of services that are necessary for social life tasks such as heating, cooling, and lighting. Therefore, there is a need for depiction of energy outlook and selection of appropriate strategies as the main pillars of economic and political stability in each society. The main objective of this research is to design and apply a methodology that helps decision makers for simulation, optimization and analysis of the residential sector energy system. The...

A heuristic trade off model for integration of distributed generations in deregulated power systems considering technical, economical and environmental issues

    , Article 2008 IEEE 2nd International Power and Energy Conference, PECon 2008, Johor Baharu, 1 December 2008 through 3 December 2008 ; 2008 , Pages 1275-1279 ; 9781424424054 (ISBN) Hekmati, A ; Nasiri, R ; Bagheri, M ; Tehrani, A. A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
With the introduction of restructuring concepts to traditional power systems, a great deal of attention is given to the utilization of distributed generation. Since the integration of DG units has been known as an alternative for main grid as a resource for energy supply, the determination of optimal sizing and sitting is an important issue in the planning procedure of DG. This work presents a comprehensive multi-objective model for integration of distributed generations into a distribution network, regarding various technical, economical and environmental issues such as reduction of carbon dioxide emissions and investment & running costs while the bus voltages shall be kept within...

A heuristic-based approach for reliability importance assessment of energy producers

    , Article Energy Policy ; Vol. 39, issue. 3 , 2011 , Pages 1562-1568 ; ISSN: 03014215 Akhavein, A ; Fotuhi Firuzabad, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Reliability of energy supply is one of the most important issues of service quality. On one hand, customers usually have different expectations for service reliability and price. On the other hand, providing different level of reliability at load points is a challenge for system operators. In order to take reasonable decisions and obviate reliability implementation difficulties, market players need to know impacts of their assets on system and load-point reliabilities. One tool to specify reliability impacts of assets is the criticality or reliability importance measure by which system components can be ranked based on their effect on reliability. Conventional methods for determination of...

A comprehensive energy supply model in an office building based on the reference energy system

    , Article International Journal of Sustainable Energy ; Volume 35, Issue 1 , 2016 , Pages 88-102 ; 14786451 (ISSN) Masoumzadeh, A ; Rasekhi, H ; Fathi, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In the last decade, technological innovations have resulted in considering distributed generation with heat recovery capability in addition to centralised generation. This work aims to develop a comprehensive model analysing techno-economic parameters of energy supply in an office building. The energy model is developed on the basis of the reference energy system with the linear programming technique. The objective function is the annual value of total costs of the energy supply system. The results of the model for the building of Sharif Energy Research Institute indicate that the most appropriate generation technology is an internal combustion engine of 461 kW and a water boiler of 152 kW....
