Implementation of green management concepts in sport complexes

    , Article International Journal of Environmental Science and Technology ; Volume 3, Issue 3 , 2006 , Pages 213-219 ; 17351472 (ISSN) Abbaspour, M ; Karbassi, A. R ; Khadivi, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    CEERS  2006
    Abstract
Implementation of green management in sport complexes can ensure the continuous arrangement and assessment of activities from the environmental perspective and will end up in control and prevention of contaminants. Enghelab sport complex (ESC) in Iran is selected for this study due to its size and long-term activities. Due to the comprehensive plan of the aforesaid sports complex, numerous centers and departments were established in this site in order to materialize its envisioned sports, recreational and cultural objectives. The results of the questionnaires distributed amongst the members and the personnel of the complex revealed that approximately 50 % occupants were not acquainted with...

Photocatalytic degradation of 3-methyl-4-nitrophenol over Ag/AgCl-decorated/[MOYI]-coated/ZnO nanostructures: Material characterization, photocatalytic performance, and in-vivo toxicity assessment of the photoproducts

    , Article Environmental Technology and Innovation ; Volume 21 , 2021 ; 23521864 (ISSN) Padervand, M ; Heidarpour, H ; Goshadehzehn, M ; Hajiahmadi, S ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this work, a facile ionic liquid-mediated method was utilized to fabricate an efficient photocatalyst for environmental remediation. The eco-friendly aspect of the treatment was explored through an in-vivo toxicity bioassay. ZnO particles, prepared by a combined solid state-pyrolysis method, were coated by 1-methyl-3-(oxiran-2ylmethyl)-1H-imidazolium-3-chloride ([MOYI]Cl) ionic liquid. Then, Ag/AgCl species were grown on the surface to make a heterojunction system leading to efficient charge separation and light absorption extension to the visible domain. The products were characterized by XRD, FTIR, SEM, EDX, DRS, BET, and PL analysis. Photocatalytic performance of the nanostructures was...

Assessment of Iran academic environmental education needs with climate change approach

    , Article International Journal of Environmental Science and Technology ; Volume 18, Issue 1 , 2021 , Pages 49-56 ; 17351472 (ISSN) Ahmadi, A ; Abbaspour, M ; Afkhami Namin, N ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The main goal of environmental education program developers is to train resourceful experts to work, study and solve environmental issues. Thus, it is essential to conform educational knowledge and skills according to countries needs along with scientific and technological progress. The present study aimed to assess needs of educational programs by considering climate change issues in Iranian Universities. Therefore, needs of higher education sector have been identified and some recommendations were given in line with objectives of training programs. The study applied random selection method to determine a number of environmental professionals to answer the designed questioner. Delphi method...

Uncertainty analysis in QUAL2E model of Zayandeh-Rood River

    , Article Water Environment Research ; Volume 77, Issue 3 , 2005 , Pages 279-286 ; 10614303 (ISSN) Abrishamchi, A ; Tajrishy, M ; Shafieian, P ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Water-quality modeling and prediction is a complicated task because of inherent randomness and uncertainties associated with various processes and variables throughout the stream environment and the lack of appropriate data. Hence, the results of mathematical models are always approximate, lying within an uncertainty. This paper describes and demonstrates the application of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's water-quality model, QUAL2E-UNCAS, to the Zayandeh-Rood River in Iran. First-order reliability analysis is used to examine the variability of predicted water-quality parameters of total dissolved solids, dissolved oxygen, and biochemical oxygen demand. This analysis also...
