    Abstract
    In this paper, an FPGA-controlled fault tolerant back-to-back converter for DFIG-based wind energy conversion application is studied. Before an open-circuit failure in one of the semiconductors, the fault tolerant converter operates as a conventional back-to-back six-leg one. After the fault occurrence in one of the switches, the converter will continue its operation with the remaining five healthy legs.     Abstract
    Fault detection has always an important role in maintaining the system stability and assuring satisfactory and safe operation. In this paper a method based on system identification is used for fault detection on a nuclear reactor. The combination of Extended Kalman Filter and recursive Least Square are used to identify the system parameters. Another goal of this paper is design of a fault tolerant control system for a nuclear reactor during power change operation. The proposed controller is an adaptive neuro-fuzzy controller based on emotional learning.     Abstract
    In this paper, we introduce a new approach to fault detection and isolation for robot manipulators. Our technique is based on using a new simplified Euler-Lagrange (EL) equation that reduces complexity of the proposed fault detection method. The proposed approach isolates the faults and is capable of handling the uncertainty in manipulator gravity vector. It is shown that the effect of uncalibrated torque sensor measurement is asymptotically rejected in the detection process. A simulation example is presented to illustrate the results. © 2009 IEEE

    Abstract
    In this paper, we use nonlinear system identification method to predict and detect process fault of a cement rotary kiln. After selecting proper inputs and output, an input-output model is identified for the plant. To identify the various operation points in the kiln, Locally Linear Neuro-Fuzzy (LLNF) model is used. This model is trained by LOLIMOT algorithm which is an incremental tree-structure algorithm. Then, by using this method, we obtained 3 distinct models for the normal and faulty situations in the kiln. One of the models is for normal condition of the kiln with 15 minutes prediction horizon. The module used in this paper is a 60 GHz transceiver with a waveguide interface, designed to transmit 8 dBm of saturated power.     The flexibility of software-based fault tolerant approaches in providing the required level of reliability Commer-cial-Off-The Shelf (COTS) devices made them the first choice in designing safety-critical systems. In this paper, we propose a reliability improvement method for COTS-based systems, so-called, RI-COTS.
