    Adsorption of TiO2 nanoparticles on glass fibers

    Abstract
    Titania was deposited on glass fibers with a partial epoxy layer coating from a solution containing TiO2 nanoparticles at T = 90°C, and the adsorption process was examined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, and photocatalytic activity measurements. XPS data demonstrated that about 25% of the surface was covered with TiO2 nanoparticles, with 10% on the epoxy layer and 15% on the glass body. It was found that TiO2 nanoparticles can be readily adsorbed on epoxy groups, whereas they have a low tendency to adsorb on carbon polymer chains. This difference can be...

    Abstract
    In this study, the different parts of carthamus tinctorius plant, including petal (SPE), leaf (SLE), and shoot (SSE), have been extracted. Adsorption of the extracts on mild steel in 3.5 wt. % NaCl solution was evaluated employing electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic polarization, and electrochemical noise measurements (EN). The field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) were employed to appraise the morphology of the samples surface subjected to the test solutions.     The core-shell nanofibers, produced by the coaxial electrospinning method, are good candidates for delivery of anticancer drugs due to their continuous release without initial burst release. In this work, the N-carboxymethyl chitosan (N-CMCS)-polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) composite and core-shell nanofibers were prepared by two-nozzle and coaxial electrospinning techniques, respectively.     Abstract
    Herein, Kiwi peel activated carbon (AC), Materials Institute Lavoisier (MIL-88B (Fe), and AC/MIL-88B (Fe) composite were synthesized and used as catalysts to degrade Reactive Red 198. The material properties were analyzed by the FTIR, BET-BJH, XRD, FESEM, EDX, TGA, and UV–Vis/DRS. The BET surface area of AC, MIL-88B (Fe) and AC/MIL-88B (Fe) was 1113.3, 150.7, and 199.4 m2/g, respectively. The band gap values (Eg) estimated by Tauc plot method, were obtained 5.06, 4.19 and 3.79 eV for AC, MIL-88B (Fe) and AC/MIL-88B (Fe), respectively. The results indicated that the AC/MIL-88B (Fe) composite had higher photocatalytic activity (99%) than that of pure AC (79%) and MIL-88B (Fe) catalysts (87%)....

    Abstract
    We synthesized a titanium dioxide–polyaniline core–shell nanocomposite and implemented it as an efficient sorbent for the needle-trap extraction of some volatile organic compounds from urine samples. Polyaniline was synthesized, in the form of the emeraldine base, dissolved in dimethyl acetamide followed by diluting with water at pH 2.8, using the interfacial polymerization method. The TiO2 nanoparticles were encapsulated inside the conducting polymer shell, by adapting the in situ dispersing approach.     Abstract
    Hydrogel hybrids were conveniently prepared from alkaline hydrolysis of chitosan-poly(acrylonitrile) mixture under highly practical conditions. The reaction of chitosan alkoxide anions with nitrile groups of poly(acrylonitrile) (PAN) forms crosslinking points and results in a three-dimensional network with superswelling ability in aqueous media. The hydrogel hybrid was identified using FTIR spectroscopy. The PAN content of the hydrolyzing feed affects proportionally the swelling capacity of the hydrogel hybrid.     Abstract
    High performance Fe-Gd-P tri-doped TiO2 nanoparticles (1 at% for each dopant) were successfully synthesized by a modified sol–gel method. Various analytical and spectroscopic techniques were carried out to determine the physicochemical properties of the prepared samples, including XRD, EDX, FESEM, BET, FTIR, XPS, PL, EIS and UV–Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activities of prepared samples were evaluated by photo degradation of methyl orange (MO) and 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) as model pollutants under visible light irradiation.
