    Abstract
    This paper describes the designing and evaluation of an alternative energy system which consists of PEMFC, PV, PEM electrolyser, methane reformer and hydrogen tank. In order to find out the minimum capacity of the components, a system sizing model is developed in MATLAB based on meteorological and electrical demand data. Three scenarios are considered based on different combinations of solar energy and fossil fuel energy as energy resources. The heating energy produced by the fuel cell is recovered for supplying domestic hot water while the system would supply electrical energy.     In this study, the effect of adding walnut shell-based powdered activated carbon (WS) to a bench-scale dissolved air flotation (DAF) column on oil removal was investigated. All experiments were conducted using synthetically prepared wastewater containing low but stable concentrations of heavy fuel oil. After comparing the effect of different WS doses from 0 (blank) to 40 mg/L at the saturator pressure of 5 bar and 10 min flotation time, 20 mg/L WS was chosen as the optimal concentration.     This paper develops a behavioral analysis of freight mode choice decisions that could provide a basis for an acceptable analytical tool for policy assessment. The paper specifically examines the way that truck and rail compete for commodity movement in the US. Two binary mode choice models are introduced in which some shipment-specific variables (e.g. distance, weight and value) and mode-specific variables (e.g. haul time and cost) are found to be determinants. The specifications of the non-selected choice are imputed in a machine learning module.     The effects of intermediate nickel layer on seal strength and chemical compatibility of seal glass and interconnect materials for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) were investigated. Two types of samples (metal/glass/metal sandwiches and glass coated metals) were prepared with the sheet of AISI 430 (nickel plated and uncoated) and slurry of compliant silicate sealing glass (SCN-1).     The present study investigated the biological treatment of produced water in a microbial electrochemical cell (MXC). The main objectives were to develop a novel spiral microbial electrochemical cell (SMXC) and test its performance for produced water treatment under highly saline conditions (salinity > 200000 ppm). By applying multi-objective optimization (MOO) using the genetic algorithm, the optimal values of operating load and the corresponding values of objective functions are obtained.     In this paper, the effect of different parameters of power plants, such as height above sea level, performance, ambient temperature, fuel type on emissions in Iran's power plants is investigated. Based on that, a general strategy for selecting the type of power plant, fuel that fit with the geographical situation in the Middle East is presented. Results taken from this scientific study shows that using natural gas to generate power in the region should be a priority. As well as expected, the value of various emission factors decrease by increasing power produce.
