    Abstract
The potential of carbon-based nanosheet membranes with functionalized pores is great as water treatment membranes. Using the molecular dynamic simulation technique, the dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) separation from the water/DMSO binary solution is investigated, and the functionalized graphene nanosheets are used as a membrane. This membrane was functionalized by –F (fluorine) and –H (hydrogen) functional groups. For the separation of DMSO, external hydrostatic pressures up to 100 MPa were applied to the considered systems. The separation mechanism was based on molecular size. Multiple analyses were done to study the capability of considered membranes for the separation of DMSO molecules from...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Bakhtiari, Alborz (Author) ; Madaah Hosseini, Hamid Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Today, due to changes in lifestyle and environmental changes, the incidence of cancer is increasing worldwide. With the advancement of science and technology, humans have always sought ways to improve their quality of life and lifespan. The most common cancer related to bone tissue is osteosarcoma. One of the most effective treatment methods is photodynamic therapy. This method requires a photosensitizer with appropriate optical and biological properties. The ideal photosensitizer should be excited with light in the NIR range and produce ROS or active oxygen species. In this research, oxygen-doped graphitic carbon nitride modified by heterojunction with Mn3O4 was used as a photosensitizer....

    , Article International Journal of Pharmaceutics ; Volume 629 , 2022 ; 03785173 (ISSN) Ramedani, A ; Sabzevari, O ; Simchi, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B.V  2022
    Abstract
Theranostic liposomes have recently found a broad range of applications in nanomedicine due to stability, the high solubility of biomacromolecules, bioavailability, efficacy, and low adverse effects. However, the limitations of liposomes concerning the short systemic circulation in the body, limited controllability of the release rate, and the inability of in vivo imaging remain challenging. Herein, the development of novel hybrid ultrasound-activated piezoelectric nanoparticles based on a hybrid liposome nanocarrier composed of poly(vinylidene fluoride‐trifluoroethylene), graphene quantum dots (GQDs), and Silibinin (a hydrophobic drug) is presented. The hybrid nanoparticles are an...

    Abstract
Introduction: The application of doxorubicin (DOX) in cancer therapy has been limited due to its drug resistance and poor internalization. Graphene oxide (GO) nanostructures have the capacity for DOX delivery while promoting its cytotoxicity in cancer. Areas covered: The favorable characteristics of GO nanocomposites, preparation method, and application in cancer therapy are described. Then, DOX resistance in cancer, GO-mediated photothermal therapy, and DOX delivery for cancer suppression are described. Preparation of stimuli-responsive GO nanocomposites, surface functionalization, hybrid nanoparticles, and theranostic applications are emphasized in DOX chemotherapy. Expert opinion: GO...

    , Article Ionics ; Volume 28, Issue 1 , 2022 , Pages 213-228 ; 09477047 (ISSN) Sharifi, H ; Mosallanejad, B ; Mohammadzad, M ; Hosseini Hosseinabad, S. M ; Ramakrishna, S ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this work, cycling-induced aging occurring in 18650-type LiFePO4/graphite full cells at different C-rates is studied extensively. The mechanism of performance degradation is investigated using a combination of electrochemical and microstructural analyses. Half-cell studies are carried out after dismantling the full cells, using fresh and cycled LiFePO4 cathode and graphite anode to independently study them. The results show that the capacity of LiFePO4 electrodes is significantly recovered. The rate of capacity fading in the discharge state considered as irreversible capacity in the graphite is higher than LiFePO4 half cells, indicating a greater degradation in the performance of this...

    Abstract
In this research, the potential of bismuth chromate (BCO), a new bismuth-based semiconductor belongs to the family of Bi2XO6 (X = Mo, W, or Cr), was introduced by a novel 1D/2D structure consist of BCO nanobelts and N2-freezed ultra-wrinkled graphitic carbon nitride (N–CN) nanosheets. To enhance intimate contact between BCO and N–CN (BCO/N–CN composite), surface oxygen vacancy (VO) was created as an efficient electron transfer highway using a simple alkaline-treatment-assisted method. Various characterization techniques, including XRD, FT-IR, EPR, FE-SEM, TEM, BET, DRS, PL, EIS, and photocurrent transient analyses were conducted to elucidate the physicochemical aspects of catalysts. The...

Graphene-based nanomaterials in fighting the most challenging viruses and immunogenic disorders

    Abstract
Viral diseases have long been among the biggest challenges for healthcare systems around the world. The recent Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is an example of how complicated the situation can get if we are not prepared to combat a viral outbreak in time, which brings up the need for quick and affordable biosensing platforms and vast knowledge of potential antiviral effects and drug/gene delivery opportunities. The same challenges have also existed for nonviral immunogenic disorders. Nanomedicine is considered a novel candidate for effectively overcoming these worldwide challenges. Among the versatile nanomaterials commonly used in biomedical applications, graphene has recently...

    Abstract
Interest in carbon nanomaterials for energy storage systems such as supercapacitors has enormously risen due to their attractive electrical conductivity, chemical inertness, and charge storage capacity. The reduction of graphitic oxide is a versatile procedure to prepare 3D graphene. Despite many green methods, the dynamics behind ultrafast thermal graphitization have remained elusive. Here, we demonstrate an effort to understand the graphitization mechanism of graphitic oxide under ultrafast thermal reduction induced by electromagnetic radiation and probably via Ar+ cation collisions. The low photon energy (10.5 μeV) locally removes oxygen functionalities and restores the π-conjugated...

    Abstract
Cancer is one of the most important problems that affects public health. If this disease is diagnosed quickly in the patient's body, it can be prevented and treated by determining the stage of the disease and establishing a treatment protocol. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and fluorescence imaging (FI) are among the imaging methods. In order to increase the contrast of images, researchers have turned to the synthesis of materials under contrast agents, which improve diagnostic sensitivity. Synthesis of nanoparticles as multi-mode contrast agents can enhance imaging methods. In this research, the synthesis and characterization of the multifunctional Fe3O4-Mn3O4-LCysteine@g-C3N4 QDs system...
