    Abstract
There are many works on annealing process of SPDed bulk metals but there are limited works on annealing process of SPDed sheets. Therefore, in this study the annealing response after constrained groove pressing (CGP) of low carbon steel sheets has been investigated. These sheets are subjected to severe plastic deformation at room temperature by CGP method up to three passes. Nano-structured low carbon steel sheets produced by severe plastic deformation are annealed at temperature range of 100 to 600 °C for 20 min. The microstructural changes after deformation and annealing are studied by optical microscopy. The effects of CGP strain and annealing temperature on microstructure, strength and...

    Abstract
In this work, we synthesized carbon hollow spheres (CHSs) using the silica templating method, encapsulated 2-mercaptobenzimidazole (MBI) inhibitor in the CHSs and evaluated their corrosion inhibition performance upon exposure of mild steel to a saline solution containing the released inhibitor. The effects of silica template surface modification on the CHS structure was evaluated, while the structure and morphology of the synthesized CHS was analyzed using field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectroscopy. Furthermore, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy...

A detailed atomic level computational and electrochemical exploration of the Juglans regia green fruit shell extract as a sustainable and highly efficient green corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution

    Abstract
Seawater, which has been frequently applied in cooling and injection water systems, imposes severe pitting corrosion to mild steel. Addition of green and sustainable inhibitors based on renewable sources is one of the promising methodologies for restricting metal corrosion in chloride-containing electrolytes. In this study, for the first time, from both theoretical and experimental faces, the role of Juglans regia green fruit shell (JRS) extract as a sustainable potent corrosion inhibitor for mild steel was studied. The chemical structure of the JRS extract was deliberated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). By electrochemical techniques including polarization, EIS and...

Persian Liquorice extract as a highly efficient sustainable corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in sodium chloride solution

    , Article Journal of Cleaner Production ; Volume 210 , 2019 , Pages 660-672 ; 09596526 (ISSN) Alibakhshi, E ; Ramezanzadeh, M ; Haddadi, S. A ; Bahlakeh, G ; Ramezanzadeh, B ; Mahdavian, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The Persian Liquorice was introduced as a sustainable corrosion inhibitor with excellent inhibition action for mild steel in sodium chloride solution. Persian Liquorice is a root of Glycyrrhiza glabra including many active compounds like Glycyrrhizin (GL), 18β- Glycyrrhetinic acid (GA), Liquritigenin (LTG), Licochalcone A (LCA), Licochalcone E (LCE), and Glabridin (GLD). The Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy was utilized to track various active components exist in the Persian Liquorice extract. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical current noise measurements were conducted to investigate the corrosion inhibition role of various...

    Abstract
This paper deals with the effects of three low-carbon steel filler metals consisting of ferritic and austenitic phases on the weld joints of the tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding of Hardox 500 steel. The correlation between the microstructure and mechanical properties of the weld joints was investigated. For this purpose, macro and microstructure were examined, and then microhardness, tensile, impact, and fracture toughness tests were carried out to analyze the mechanical properties of joints. The results of optical microscopy (OM) images showed that the weld zones (WZ) of all three welds were composed of different ferritic morphologies, including allotriomorphic ferrite, Widmanstätten...
