    Abstract
In the present research, iron oxide nanoparticles were synthesized through the hydrothermal method, and the influence of processing parameters such as pH of the initial coprecipitation reaction, time and temperature of hydrothermal treatment was studied. The magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles were coated with a negatively charged, thin layer of silica. The product is then coated with a layer of mesoporous silica. As a result of the electrostatic attraction between the cationic CTAB and the primary silica coating, the formation of mesoporous silica would be mainly localized on the surface of nanoparticles. Calcination was performed in an argon atmosphere tube furnace at 550 °C, through which...

    Abstract
An easy method for preparing CuO nanoparticles incorporated in a mesoporous structure was presented based on the thermal decomposition of a copper complex. The novel copper coordination compound of [Cu(anic)2]·0.75H2O (anic= 2-aminonicotinate) with the microflake morphology was synthesized through the reaction of 2-aminonicotinic acid (Hanic) and copper(II) nitrate. Using elemental analysis and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, the chemical composition of CuC12H11.5N4O4.75 was proposed. Calcination process at 550 °C for 4 h transformed the microflakes into CuO nanoparticles incorporated in a mesoporous structure. The FTIR peaks assigned to 2-aminonicotinate were completely...

    Abstract
In this study synthesis of a drug delivery system (DDS) is described which has several merits over its counterparts. In order to synthesize this nano-carrier, graphene oxide nano-sheets are used to accommodate MCM-41 nanoparticles. Furthermore Fe3O4 nanoparticles are introduced to this nano-material to produce a traceable nanoparticle. Since cancerous tissues have lower pH than healthy tissues, pH-sensitive oligomers are attached to this nano-material. Finally the nano-carrier is wrapped by a biocompatible shell (PEGylated sodium alginate); this polymeric shell makes the DDS capable of a more controllable drug release. By measuring in vitro situation, ‘loading content%’...

    , Article Journal of Nanoparticle Research ; Volume 17, Issue 4 , April , 2015 ; 13880764 (ISSN) Pourjavadi, A ; Tehrani, Z. M ; Mahmoudi, N ; Sharif University of Technology
    Kluwer Academic Publishers  2015
    Abstract
In the present work, biocompatible superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles coated by mesoporous silica were used as drug nanocarriers for doxorubicin (Dox; an anticancer drug) delivery. In biological media, the interaction of protein corona layer with the surface of nanoparticles is inevitable. For this reason, we studied the effect of protein corona on drug release from magnetic mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MMSNs) in human plasma medium. Besides, we used hydrophilic and biocompatible polymer, polyethylene glycol (PEG), to decrease protein corona effects. The results showed the increased Dox release from PEGylated MMSNs compared with bare MMSNs. This result indicated that the coating...

    Abstract
A new facile strategy for preparation of mesoporous anatase-TiO2 films by a combination of sol–gel and evaporation-induced self-assembly (EISA) processes aided by tri-block Pluronic F127 is reported. Two major parameters, sol preparation and EISA processing parameters, are identified for preparation of mesoporous crack-free films with desired thickness. The mesoporous crack-free films with thickness of 650 nm can be obtained with low water: precursor molar ratio (e.g., 2.5:1) under aging in 10 % relative humidity for 72 h at the low temperature of 5 °C. Although template: precursor molar ratio and annealing temperature show little influence on preparation of crack-free films the optimum...

Vanadium–Schiff base complex-functionalized SBA-15 as a heterogeneous catalyst: synthesis, characterization and application in pharmaceutical sulfoxidation of sulfids

    , Article Research on Chemical Intermediates ; Volume 42, Issue 12 , 2016 , Pages 8201-8215 ; 09226168 (ISSN) Taghizadeh, M. J ; Karimi, H ; Sadeghi Abandansari, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Springer Netherlands
    Abstract
VO2(picolinichydrazone) complex as a catalyst was stabilized on a SBA-15 mesoporous silica as a catalytic support by using (3-chloropropyl)triethoxysilane as a connector. SBA-15 is nanoporous and has a high ratio of surface area to volume. The immobilization of a metal–Schiff base complex to the surface area of SBA-15 can improve its catalytic effects by increasing the catalytic surface area. Unlike homogeneous catalysts, heterogeneous catalysts can be recovered and reused several times without any significant loss of catalytic activity. A vanadium–Schiff base complex-functionalized SBA-15 was synthesized by covalency connected by a pre-synthesised VO2(picolinichydrazone) complex to...

    Abstract
In this research a novel controlled anticancer drug delivery system with dual pH and thermal responses was designed based on magnetic mesoporous silica nanoparticles that were anchored by β-cyclodextrin and coated by poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM). Results demonstrated that the behavior of doxorubicin (anticancer drug) release depended on pH and temperature conditions. At endosomal pH (pH 5.5) the amount of drug release enhanced because the cap was removed from the pores. Furthermore, PNIPAM shell collapsed above the lower critical solution temperature and the releasing of drug increased. Thus, this nanocarrier would have the potential to be applied in the tumor therapy. © 2017 Taylor...

    Abstract
We develop a facile route for deposition of mesoporous TiO2 thick films over several micrometers by sol–gel and evaporation-induced self-assembly processes using Pluronic F127. The light harvesting of deposited films by two different methods (i.e., using a viscous gel and a paste) is studied by controlling their mesoscopic characteristics, phase composition and thickness for dye-sensitized solar cells applications. It is revealed that the mesoscopic films have mixtures of anatase and rutile crystal structures with surface area in the range 50.6–94.6 m2/g. We observe that the mesoporous TiO2 films prepared under optimized conditions improve light harvesting and dye loading of photoelectrodes....

    Abstract
A highly water stable metal-organic framework (MOF) based on zirconium, i.e. UiO-66, was synthesized and then employed to adsorptive removal of an anionic dye, methyl orange (MO), and a cationic dye, methylene blue (MB), from aqueous solution. In this work, for the first time, the long term stability of UiO-66 in water was investigated for 12 months. X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and N2 adsorption/desorption analysis were employed to monitor the textural alteration of UiO-66 during water aging. The results indicated that the structure of UiO-66 was mostly retained and its adsorption capacity toward dyes exhibited minor loss after long term water...
