    Abstract
    Carbon accounting is necessary for designing effective climate change mitigation policies. A proper and fair accounting method should motivate both the producers toward cleaner production methods and the consumers toward reducing the embodied emissions of their consumption. This research work proposes a new approach to map the production chain of carbon emissions in which every subsystem is responsible for the level and efficiency of its production activities and embodied emissions for providing its economic activities or final demands.     Passenger cars (PCs) not only are a major contributor to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Iran but also pose severe energy security challenges due to their dependence on gasoline. This study aimed to understand the future trends of the gasoline demand and GHG emissions from PCs in Iran and assess the effectiveness of mitigation policies. The data were collected from multiple sources and used to develop the survival rate function of PCs. The study used back-calculation to compensate for the short period of stock data availability.     Ground-borne vibrations resulting from the railway and road traffic have an adverse impact on the environment and nearby infrastructures. The focus of this study is on a specific part of the Tehran-Tabriz Railway located in the vicinity of Fath Highway, Tehran. In the investigated area, there are many residential buildings very close to the railway, and consequently, the train-induced vibrations make the people disturbed.     The size and speed of SRAM caches of embedded systems are increasing in response to demands for higher performance. However, the SRAM caches are vulnerable to soft errors originated from energetic nuclear particles or electrical sources. This paper proposes a new protected cache scheme, which provides high performance as well as high fault detection coverage. In this scheme, the cache space is divided into sets of different sizes.     In joint-use corridors where both pipelines and AC electric transmission lines are present, a portion of the energy contained in the electromagnetic field surrounding the electric transmission lines is captured by each pipeline, resulting in induced AC voltages. In this paper a joint power line/pipeline Right ofWay is designed.     Controlling evaporation plays an essential role in arid and semi-arid water resources systems where it accounts for a considerable amount of reservoirs outflow. In this study, we have evaluated evaporation reduction efficiency of different kinds of self-assembled nano-thickness films. The films consist of six different combinations of stearyl and cetyl alcohols with additives such as jojoba oil, stearic acid, and calcium hydroxide.     Liquefaction-induced lateral spreading caused severe damages to pile foundations during past earthquakes. Micropiles can be used as a mitigation strategy against lateral spreading e ects on pile foundations. However, the available knowledge about the possible efficiency of this strategy is quite limited.
