    Abstract
The catalytic activity of Pt/Ni/TiO 2 nanotubes electrode toward glucose has been studied. Fabrication of Pt/Ni nanostructures was done in a single-bath solution through electrochemical pulse method by changing the deposition potential between -0.3 and -4 V vs. SCE, respectively. The resulting modified electrode represented high conductivity due to the effective presence of metallic components and uniform surface area caused by dispersion of Pt and Ni nanostructures. The scanning electron microscopy images also confirmed that a large amount of metals colonies were well-dispersed at the edge of the TiO 2 nanotubes. In addition, the Pt/Ni TiO 2 nanotubes modified electrode exhibited an...

    Abstract
In this study a novel Pt/Ni nanostructure consisting of nano-bushes and nanocubes was fabricated onto TiO 2 nanotubes. The scanning electron microscopy images showed that a large amount of well-dispersed nano-architectures had uniformly covered all over the surface which made an electrode with high surface area. It was obviously seen that the nanocube structures mainly consists of Ni had been grown on top of each other while the Pt colonies represented bush-like structures. As a non-enzymatic glucose biosensor, the Pt/Ni TiO 2 nanotubes modified electrode exhibited an excellent performance. The proposed biosensor had two linear ranges for detection of glucose from 0 to 0.12 mM (correlation...

    Abstract
The electrocatalytic oxidation of cephalexin and cefazolin has been studied at a carbon paste electrode modified with cobalt salophen (CoSal) by cyclic voltammetry. The selectivity of the carbon paste modified with CoSal in detecting cephalexin and cefazolin was examined. To suggest the electrocatalytic mechanism for electro-oxidation of cefazolin, the electrochemical behavior of ceftriaxone was investigated which has a thiol group out of the beta lactam ring. The electrocatalytic oxidation of these antibiotics is shown to be irreversible at the CoSal modified electrode. Scan rate dependence of cefazolin, which is a sulfur-containing compound, has been examined. The results indicated that...

    Abstract
Complexes of Ni II-(N,N′-bis(2-hydroxy, 3-methoxy benzaldehyde)-1,2-propandiimine) can be electro-polymerized onto GC electrode in an alkaline solution to give an electro-active film strongly adhered on the electrode surface. In alkaline solution, this poly-(Ni II{sal-1,2-pn(3-OMe) 2})/GC film shows the typical voltammetric response of a surface-immobilized redox couple, as can be anticipated for the Ni 2+/Ni 3+ transitions into the film. In addition, the film exhibits a potent and persistent electro-catalytic activity towards the oxidation of 1- and 2-propanol. In CV studies, in the presence of these alcohols, poly-(Ni II{sal-1,2-pn(3-OMe) 2})/GC electrode shows a new oxidation peak for the...

    Abstract
A stable copper (hydr)oxide-modified electrode was prepared in 0.5 mol/L NaOH solution by cyclic voltammetry in the range of -250 to 1000 mV. It can be used for electrochemical studies in the range of -250 to 1000 mV without interfering peaks because there is no oxidation of copper. During an anodic potential sweep, the electro-oxidation of saccharose on Cu occurred by the formation of CuIII and this reaction also occurred in the early stages of the reversed cycle until it is stopped by the negative potentials. A mechanism based on the electro-chemical generation of CuIII active sites and their subsequent consumption by saccharose was proposed, and the rate law and kinetic parameters were...

    Abstract
Cobalt hydroxide modified glassy carbon electrodes (CHM/GC) prepared by the anodic deposition in presence of tartrate ions have been used for the electro-catalytic oxidation of methanol in alkaline solutions where the methods of cyclic voltammetery (CV), chronoamperometry (CA) and impedance spectroscopy (IS) have been employed. In CV studies, in the presence of methanol the peak current of the oxidation of cobalt hydroxide increase is followed by a decrease in the corresponding cathodic current. This suggests that the oxidation of methanol is being catalysed through the mediated electron transfer across the cobalt hydroxide layer comprising of cobalt ions of various valence states. A...

Electrocatalytic oxidation of methane at nickel hydroxide modified nickel electrode in alkaline solution

    , Article Electrochemistry Communications ; Volume 5, Issue 2 , 2003 , Pages 184-188 ; 13882481 (ISSN) Jafarian, M ; Mahjani, M. G ; Heli, H ; Gobal, F ; Heydarpoor, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Nickel hydroxide modified nickel electrodes prepared by cycling the potential of a nickel electrode in alkaline solution exhibited electrocatalytic activity for the oxidation of methane in alkaline media. In the presence of methane the oxidation peak current of nickel hydroxide increases while that of the reverse process decreases. This is attributed to the mediation of nickel species, probably β-NiOOH phase, in the process of electrocatalysis. The mechanism of methane oxidation has also been discussed in terms of the formations of intermediates normally encountered in small organics electro-oxidation. It has also been suggested that in the further oxidation of the intermediates, ions in the...

Electrocatalytic oxidation of methanol on a nickel disc electrode coated with nickel dimethyglyoxime complex (NiDMG), conditioned by potential recycling in a potential range of 100-700 mV (versus SCE) is studied by cyclic voltammetry in alkaline medium (0.10 M NaOH). The results show that the NiODMG layer formed at the surface of electrode behaves as an efficient electrocatalyst for the oxidation of methanol in alkaline medium via Ni(III) species with the cross exchange reaction occurring through out the layer at a low concentration of methanol. A plausible mechanism was proposed for catalytic oxidation of methanol at this modified electrode. Moreover, the effects of various parameters such...
