    , Article Journal of Applied Electrochemistry ; Volume 44, Issue 2 , February , 2014 , Pages 263-277 ; ISSN: 0021891X Fayazfar, H ; Afshar, A ; Dolati, A ; Ghalkhani, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
The first usage of dihexadecyl hydrogen phosphate (DHP)-modified highly oriented multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNTs) forests in a sensor configuration was developed to investigate the electrochemical oxidation and determination of simvastatin (SV) in pharmaceutical dosage forms. Synthesis of well-aligned MWCNTs on a conductive Ta substrate by catalytic vapor deposition technique using a common chemical, ethylenediamine, and without being plasma-aided was reported. The electrochemical behavior and oxidation of SV at the aligned MWCNTs/DHP/Ta electrode were discussed in detail through cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry. This modified electrode showed considerably higher...

    2013
    Abstract
Low structure carbon black (CBN330), conductive high structure carbon black (CBXE2B) and carboxylated multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) were loaded into the blend of natural rubber (NR) and styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) at different contents up to 10 phr. Kraus plots showed that all the reinforcements interact with NR/SBR blend appropriately. However, the CBXE2B whose interfacial area is the highest showed greatest value of Kraus interaction parameter. Flory-Rhener model and effective torque value revealed that all of the reinforcements enhanced the crosslink density, among them CBXE2B showed the highest impact and MWCNT placed in the second rank. It was also shown that the cure kinetic...

    Abstract
MWCNTs/Ag/TiO2NTs plates were synthesized via electrochemical reduction of functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) on Ag/TiO2NTs. The loading of silver nanoparticles was carried out by electroless reduction of Ag1+ onto TiO2 nanotubes previously formed by anodizing titanium. The SEM analysis revealed that MWCNTs were loaded significantly on the as-prepared Ag/TiO2NTs, where nanoparticles of Ag had grown on the walls of TiO2NTs. The photocatalytic activity of the synthesized plates was evaluated by the photodegradation of Methyl Orange (MO) dye under UV light irradiation. The results indicated that the MWCNTs/Ag/TiO2NTs demonstrated improved efficiency for MO photodegradation in...

    Abstract
Poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) nanocomposites were prepared through a solution casting method using Multi wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) and organically modified montmorillonite (OMMT) as nanoparticles and their morphological and thermal properties investigated. The X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy measurements showed that decreasing the ratio of MWCNT to OMMT for the same amount of OMMT creates better conditions for intercalation of PET macromolecules and promotes the transformation of OMMT nanostructures from the intercalated to exfoliated state. It was concluded that the Ozawa's model was not suitable to interpret the crystallization behavior of the...

    Abstract
Two nanocatalysts of palladium over multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) were synthesized and their catalytic properties evaluated in selective hydrogenation of acetylene. Different procedures were applied to synthesize catalysts which resulted in two distinct average particle sizes of palladium (Pd) over the MWCNT. The resulting catalysts displayed dissimilar NH3-TPD behaviors as well as different selectivity performances at lower temperatures. While enhancement of the hydrogen transfer mechanism occurred upon the temperature increase, similar behaviors for the aforementioned materials were obtained. Furthermore, it was revealed that the catalytic performance at higher temperatures did not...

Afterwards, poly(N-isopropylacrylamide), (PNIPAM), was grafted on polyamidoamine in a facile synthesis. Then, doxorubicin as anticancer drug was loaded on this nanocarrier. The drug release was studied at below and above the lower critical solution temperature of PNIPAM, (LCST 32 °C), 27 °C and 37 °C, respectively. At 37 °C (body temperature) the polymer shell dehydrated and the drug release increased. The profile of drug release was expressed by Higuchi's equation which indicated that the drug release mechanism was...

    2009
    Abstract
A chemically modified carbon-paste electrode (CPE) is prepared by incorporating congo red (CR) immobilized on multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT). The results show that CR is effectively immobilized on the surface of MWCNT under the ultrasonic agitation in aqueous solution and further incorporating the nafion. The prepared electrode, due to the electrostatic repulsions between the CR and ascorbate anion, is capable to mask the response of the ascorbic acid (AA) completely and provide an effective method for the detection of minor amounts of uric acid (UA) in the presence of high concentrations of AA. On the other hand, an increase in the microscopic area of the electrode by addition of...

Some short-term In vitro cytotoxicity and hemocompatibility tests were conducted on HT1080 cell line (human Fibrosarcoma), because this epithelial cell line can be one of the first route of entry of the exogenous materials to the vascular system and therefore subsequent...

    Abstract
In this article, the novel concept of using magnetic nanofluidic electrolyte for redox flow batteries is demonstrated for the first time. In this regard, the stable magnetic nanofluidic electrolytes are prepared by dispersing magnetic modified multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MMWCNTs) in the positive electrolyte of a polysulfide-iodide redox flow battery at mass concentrations of less than 0.3 g L−1. The electrochemical behavior of magnetic nanofluidic electrolyte was examined using cyclic voltammetry at different mass concentrations of MMWCNTs with a carbon felt electrode. Higher and stable peak current densities were observed at larger mass concentrations of MMWCNTs. A polysulfide-iodide...
