    Abstract
In this paper, a comprehensive study was conducted on the application of various MeAl2O4 spinels (Me = Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Mg) as the catalyst support for the preparation of nickel-based catalysts in the combined dry reforming and partial oxidation. These supports were synthesized by a novel facile sol-gel method using propylene oxide as the gelation agent and nickel was deposited on these supports by the deposition-precipitation method. The prepared samples were characterized by N2 adsorption/desorption, XRD, TPR, TPO, CO2-TPD, SEM, and TEM techniques. In addition, the temperature-programmed methane dissociation (TPMD) was performed to evaluate the effect of nickel-support interaction on...

    Abstract
The oxidation-precipitation method was used for the synthesis of Fe3O4/AC. The characterization of the catalyst was accomplished by XRD, FT-IR, FE-SEM, BET, and VSM techniques. The obtained results indicated that magnetite nanoparticles were successfully prepared with cubic spinel structures and uniform distribution on the surface of activated carbon by the oxidation-precipitation method. The effect of operating parameters was evaluated to determine the optimum operating condition for the electro-Fenton (EF) removal of catechol as a phenolic pollutant model. At the optimum operating conditions (pH 3, Fe3O4/AC: 0.9 g L−1, Catechol: 8.0 × 10−4mol L−1 at I: 120 mA), the catechol and COD removal...

    Abstract
An environmentally friendly heterogeneous ternary carbon dots (CDs)/MIL-88B (Fe)/Bi2S3 nanocomposite was synthesized by a multistep method. In this study, we have studied low-temperature calcination with relatively inexpensive reactants. The sufficient CD arrays were generated by loading the glucose molecules into the pores of an as-obtained metal-organic framework (MOF), i.e. MIL-88B (Fe)), by heating to 200 °C. Fabricated nanocomposite structures were characterized by FT-IR, XRD, EIS, SEM, TEM, BET, and TGA techniques, demonstrating the decoration of the Bi2S3 on the CDs/MIL-88B (Fe) nanocomposite surface. MOF templating has been chosen as a systemic method for limited size CD formation...

    Abstract
Exploiting localized heat-generation density and the resulting enhanced temperature-rise for controlled growth of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is reported, and its potentials for batch-production of high-quality CNT probes are demonstrated. Optical near field chemical vapor deposition (ONF-CVD) benchtop fabrication schemes are developed for the localized integration of individual well-aligned carbon nanotubes without bending/buckling exactly at desired nanoscale sites. It is demonstrated that generating self-aligned catalyst nanoparticles superimposed on top of silicon nanotips, along with near-field induced absorption confinement, provide the ability to localize the generated heat at the...

    , Article Physica B: Condensed Matter ; Volume 405, Issue 16 , 2010 , Pages 3468-3474 ; 09214526 (ISSN) Pasha, M. A ; Poursalehi, R ; Vesaghi, M. A ; Shafiekhani, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    2010
    Abstract
TCVD growth of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) was reported by catalytic decomposition of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at a temperature range of 580800 °C. Laser ablation was employed as a simple and rapid technique to produce Pd nanoparticles which possess effective catalytic activities for CNT synthesis. UVvisible spectroscopy and TEM images confirmed that the Pd nanoparticles are stable for a long time and have rather spherical shape with average size of 7 nm. SEM and TEM observations and Raman spectroscopy demonstrated that the CNTs have a wavy structure, dense morphology and acceptable crystallinity. Since Pd nanoparticles are inactivated or agglomerated at extremes of the...

    Abstract
Abstract : Vertically aligned carbon nanotube (CNT) arrays were synthesized by thermal chemical vapor deposition (CVD) on stainless steel substrates coated by cobalt nanoparticles as catalyst. Morphological and elemental analyses conducted by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) revealed that bamboo-like CNTs were blocked by Co nanoparticles at the tips. The fabricated nanotubes underwent functionalization by electrochemical oxidation in sulfuric acid, and the subsequent structural studies, as well as Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy confirmed that the tips of functionalized CNTs were opened while oxygenated functional groups were...

    Abstract
FeVO4/CeO2 was applied in the electro-Fenton (EF) degradation of Methyl Orange (MO) as a model of wastewater pollution. The results of the characterization techniques indicate that FeVO4 with triclinic structure and face-centered cubic fluorite CeO2 maintained their structures during the nanocomposite synthesis. The effect of applied current intensity, initial pollutant concentration, initial pH, and catalyst weight was investigated. The MO removal reached 96.31% and chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal 70% for 60 min of the reaction. The presence of CeO2 in the nanocomposite plays a key role in H2O2 electro-generation as a significant factor in the electro-Fenton (EF) system. The metal...

    Abstract
Exploring bi-functional electrocatalysts with excellent activity, good durability, and cost-effectiveness for electrochemical hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions (HER and OER) in the same electrolyte is a critical step towards a sustainable hydrogen economy. Three main features such as high density of active sites, improved charge transfer, and optimized electronic configuration have positive effects on the electrocatalyst activity. In this context, understanding structure–composition–property relationships and catalyst activity is very important and highly desirable. Herein, for the first time, we present the design and fabrication of novel MOF-derived ultra-small Ru/RuO2 nanoparticles...
