    Abstract
Superalloys have a poor machinability and are often drilled using Electro Discharge Machining (EDM) methods. However EDM is a time-consuming process and has low surface integrity. Ultrasonic Assisted Drilling (UAD) technology is a modern method of drilling such materials. Although this method has very high capabilities, it has not been introduced widely to industry. In this study a special horn is designed and used to apply both rotation and vibration to drill bits. It can transfer power with high efficiency and has the capability to change tools easily. The setup is used to conduct deep drilling tests on Inconel 738LC with depth-to-diameter ratio of 10. The effect of ultrasonic vibration...

    Abstract
Green iron oxide pellets are indurated with thermal treatment in pelletizing plant to achieve sufficient mechanical properties and to be used in iron-steel industry. In the first stage, the pellets are dried with hot air coming from the firing unit. High heat transfer makes the evaporation rate exceeding the outgoing steam rate from the pellets and as a result, increasing the inner pressure of the pellets and fragment. On the other hand, low heat transfer causes low production rate. Using the related equations and considering the pellets' moisture and porosity and applying the pellets' condition on parameters such as specific heat capacity and heat conductivity, an acceptable standard is...

    Abstract
In this work, a novel and facile synthesis process to fabricate single crystalline organometal halide perovskite nanowires has been successfully developed. Nanowires were grown in a high density ordered array from metal nanoclusters inside anodic aluminum oxide templates using a non-catalytic chemical vapor deposition method. Specifically, perovskite NWs were grown as a result of the reaction between methylammonium iodide (MAI) and the Pb/Sn (Pb or Sn) metal in anodic aluminum oxide templates under optimal conditions. The characterization results show that there is a reaction zone at the interface between the perovskite material and metal, at the bottom of the anodic aluminum oxide...

    Abstract
An attempt was made to produce an iron bearing and a titanium bearing product, using solid state reduction of Fanouj mine titanomagnetite concentrate. For this purpose, the concentrate was mixed with pulverised coal and sodium carbonate and was reduced in a muffle furnace. The product was then subjected to magnetic separation. In this work, the effect of temperature, time, added coal and additive amount on reduction was studied. The Separation Efficiency (SE) index was used for optimisation of the process. Using SE is more appropriate than degree of metallization, which is usually used, for optimising reduction processes. The results show that the optimal conditions are 1325°C, 2.5 h, 25...

A smart-phone based ratiometric nanoprobe for label-free detection of methyl parathion

    Elsevier B.V  2020
    Abstract
The widespread use of pesticides in pest management has boosted the demands for developing highly sensitive probes for on-site monitoring. Herein we presented a sensitive enzyme-free ratiometric probe for determination of methyl parathion (MP), as an organophosphate pesticide using TGA-capped CdTe QDs and carbon dots (CDs). Unlike previous methods in which hydrolysis product of MP is instrumental in the response of the sensors, here, self-assembly of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) on the surface of non-modified yellow-emissive CdTe QDs facilitates the quenching of CTAB-QDs upon addition of MP while the fluorescence intensity of CDs remains constant. Using a smartphone, the ratiometric...

    Abstract
Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy is a highly sensitive phenomenon and a powerful fingerprint detection tool that reflects the small changes in polarizability on the pattern and intensity of Raman signals. The SERS enhancement signals elucidate with the surface-selection rules. In this regard, molecular configuration and adsorption orientation on the surface, in addition to the direction of external electric field, can lead to different patterns of SERS spectra. To evaluate how the variation of these features influences the pattern and reproducibility of the spectra, the chemical charge-transfer SERS spectra for pyridine on silver clusters are calculated for different field directions,...

Co-planning of Transmission System and Merchant Energy Storage

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mokhtari Hassanabad, Omid (Author) ; Hosseini, Hamid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Dependency of human life to supplying of electricity energy, leads to different challenges for power system operators and planners. Demand growth and development of renewable energy sources have caused heavy investment costs to the transmission system. High price of construction of new transmission lines make planners to investigate effective factors on transmission expansion planning in order to make better decisions. On the other hand, the different amount of energy consumption during a day and the uncertainty of renewable energy result in transmission line congestion which cause electricity price gap between peak hours and off-peak hours. This price gap, also, necessitate the development...

    Abstract
The morphological manipulation, structural characterization, and optical properties of different cadmium selenide (CdSe) nanostructures are reported. Two different CdSe nanostructures, i.e., nanorods and nanoparticles, were grown by controlling the concentration of precursors (i.e., cadmium nitrate and selenium dioxide) in ethanolamine solvent. By manipulating the kinetic parameter of the process (i.e., growth rate) under constant growth driving force (i.e., degree of supersaturation), the morphology of CdSe nanostructures can be tailored from nanorods to nanoparticles. The optical properties of CdSe nanostructures were investigated using ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy. The...

    Abstract
The morphological manipulation, structural characterization, and optical properties of different CdSe nanocrystals were reported. Several different CdSe nanostructures, including nanowires, tetrapod crystals, and nanoparticles were grown by varying the volume ratio of triethylenetetraamine (TETA) and water (WA) in their mixed solution. By manipulating the growth driving force (i.e., the degree of supersaturation) and kinetics of the process (i.e., growth rate), the morphology and crystal structure of CdSe nanocrystals can be tailored. Growth driving force changed their morphology from nanowires to tetrapod structures and from the latter structure to nanoparticles. Moreover, kinetics of the...
