    Second-order calibration for simultaneous determination of pharmaceuticals in water samples by solid-phase extraction and fast high-performance liquid chromatography with diode array detector

    A fast high-performance liquid chromatography-diode array detection (HPLC-DAD) approach combined to solid phase extraction (SPE) as a pre-concentration step is developed for simultaneous determination of five selected pharmaceuticals (carbamazepine, naproxen, diclofenac, gemfibrozil and mefenamic acid) in water samples. The effective factors on the efficiency of SPE procedure are optimized using faced-centered central composite design (FCCD).     Abstract
    Purpose. Drug release from nanosystems at the sites of either absorption or effect biophase is a major determinant of its biological action. Thus, in vitro drug release is of paramount importance in gaining insight for the systems performance in vivo. Methods. A novel in vitro in vivo correlation, IVIVC, model denoted as double reciprocal area method was presented and applied to 19 drugs from 55 nano formulations with total 336 data, gathered from literature.     A mixture of multi-walled carbon nanotube/graphite paste electrode modified with a salophen complex of cobalt was prepared and was applied for the study of the electrochemical behavior of 6-mercaptopurine (MP) using cyclic and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). An excellent electrocatalytic activity toward the oxidation of MP was achieved, which led to a considerable lowering in the anodic overpotential and remarkable increase in the response sensitivity in comparison with unmodified electrode.     Abstract
    A carbon paste electrode (CPE) modified with 2,2′-[1,2 butanediylbis(nitriloethylidyne)]-bis-hydroquinone (BBNBH) and TiO2 nanoparticles was used for the sensitive voltammetric determination of epinephrine (EP). The electrochemical response characteristics of the modified electrode toward EP and acetaminophen (AC) were investigated by cyclic and differential pulse voltammetry (CV and DPV). The results showed an efficient catalytic activity of the electrode for the electrooxidation of EP, which leads to a reduction in its overpotential by more than 270 mV.     Fluorescence spectroscopy in combination with circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy were used to investigate the interaction of water-soluble amino acid Schiff base complexes, [Zn(L1,2)(phen)] where phen is 1,10-phenanthroline and H2L1,2 is amino acid Schiff base ligands, with bovine serum albumin (BSA) under the physiological conditions in phosphate buffer solution adjusted to pH 7.0.     In this paper we study the effectiveness of using multiple classifier combination for EEG signal classification aiming to obtain more accurate results than it possible from each of the constituent classifiers. The developed system employs two linear classifiers (SVM,LDA) fused at the abstract and measurement levels for integrating information to reach a collective decision.     In the current study, niosome-encapsulated tobramycin based on Span 60 and Tween 60 was synthesized and its biological efficacies including anti-bacterial, anti-efflux, and anti-biofilm activities were investigated against multidrug resistant (MDR) clinical strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The niosomal formulations were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and dynamic light scattering measurement.
