    Abstract
In this paper, a new control strategy and power management for a stand-alone PV/battery hybrid power system has been suggested. The solar cell arrays provide energy in the steady-state and the battery provides energy in transient states. Here, a charge controller system based on the MPP tracking technology, suitable for using in the islanded micro grid that contains a solar panel and a battery is designed. The charge controller includes a unidirectional DC-DC converter as an interface circuit between the solar panel and the DC bus, a bidirectional DC-DC converter as an interface circuit between the battery and the DC bus with a control system and power management in different states of...

Economic and environmental evaluation of different operation alternatives to aquifer thermal energy storage in Tehran, Iran

    , Article Scientia Iranica ; Volume 24, Issue 2 , 2017 , Pages 610-623 ; 10263098 (ISSN) Ghaebi, H ; Bahadori, M. N ; Saidi, M. H ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Aquifers are underground porous formations containing water. Confined aquifers are surrounded by impermeable layers on top and bottom, called cap rocks and bed rocks. A confined aquifer with a very low groundwater flow velocity was considered to meet the annual cooling and heating energy requirements of a residential building complex in Tehran, Iran. Three different alternatives of Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage (ATES) were employed to meet the heating/cooling demands of the buildings. These alternatives were using ATES for: Cooling alone, heating alone by coupling with at-plate solar collectors, and cooling and heating by coupling with a heat pump. For the economic evaluation of the...

Numerical investigation and parametric analysis of a photovoltaic thermal system integrated with phase change material

    , Article Applied Energy ; Volume 238 , 2019 , Pages 734-746 ; 03062619 (ISSN) Kazemian, A ; Salari, A ; Hakkaki Fard, A ; Ma, T ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this paper, a comprehensive three-dimensional model of photovoltaic thermal system integrated with phase change material (PVT/PCM) is developed and simulated. The effect of some key parameters using parametric analysis on performance of PVT/PCM system with water as working fluid is investigated. Parameters considered in this study include the properties of PCM (i.e. melting temperature, enthalpy of fusion and thermal conductivity), solar radiation and mass flow rate. The parametric analysis ranges are selected according to the properties of the most of available PCMs on the market, which shows the practical application of the numerical research. Furthermore, a three-dimensional model of...

A new application of multi criteria decision making in energy technology in traditional buildings: A case study of Isfahan

    , Article Energy ; Volume 240 , 2022 ; 03605442 (ISSN) Hosseini Dehshiri, S.S ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd  2022
    Abstract
The use of hybrid renewable energy has increased in recent years due to the growing environmental concerns caused by the consumption of fossil fuels. The purpose of this study was the economic-environmental feasibility of using hybrid energy systems in one of the most polluted and populated provinces in Iran, Isfahan province. Various components of the hybrid energy system such as wind turbine (WT), photovoltaic panel (PV), diesel generator (DG), converter (CV) along with two scenarios of energy storage including battery (BT) and hydrogen storage have been considered in modeling the energy system. Six scenarios were considered based on the combination of different components for supplying...
