    Derivation of the probability density evolution provides invaluable insight into the behavior of many stochastic systems and their performance. However, for most real-time applications, numerical determination of the probability density evolution is a formidable task.     The Markov decision process is one of the most common probabilistic prediction models used in infrastructure management. When existing data are insufficient, expert knowledge is commonly used to derive a Markovian transition probability matrix. Eventually, every pavement management system will progress to a level at which inspection measurements from the network will be organized into a database to be used for performance prediction.     Abstract
    In this brief, a new blind spectrum sensing method is proposed based on frequency comparison using a phase frequency detector (PFD). The PFD output patterns are utilized in a way to sense the spectrum with no knowledge of incoming signals, noise, or channel parameters. The detection and false alarm error probabilities are analytically calculated for additive white Gaussian noise and sine-wave input and are simulated for different inputs. It is shown that the required detection and false alarm probabilities can be achieved by changing the system parameters.     A novel orthogonal frequency division multiple access-based cognitive cooperative relaying scheme is proposed in which cognitive users assist primary users (PUs) by relaying their information. Both PUs and cognitive users communicate to a common base station. Based on the received feedback, cognitive users relay data of PUs. Two different schemes of relay assignment and power allocation are considered. Probability of error of PU and outage probabilities of both primary and cognitive users are investigated.     In this paper, we introduce a generalization of the Multiple-Access-Relay- Channel (MARC) called Multiple-Access-Relay-Network (MARN). In the proposed network, there are many transmitters, many relays and one receiver. The MARC model was first introduced by Kramer and consists of many transmitters, one receiver and only one relay.We also define semi-deterministic MARN, in which the output of the link between each transmitter and each relay is a deterministic function of the transmitter's input. A commonly used method for increasing the reliability of a dc PDU is using the redundant modules. If a fault occurs in a voltage regulator of PDU, it is replaced by its redundant module.     The aim of this study was to develop an efficient probability-based seismic fragility assessment method for steel moment-resisting frames (MRFs). In this method, Bayes estimators are used to improve the accuracy of the results based on new analyses or experimental observations. The efficiency of Bayes estimators in the updating process of fragility curves is demonstrated based on the results of incremental dynamic analysis of three-, five- and seven-storey steel MRFs under a set of 40 spectrum-compatible earthquake ground motions.     In this letter, a new molecular modulation scheme for nanonetworks is proposed. To evaluate the scheme, a system model based on the Poisson distribution is introduced. The error probability of the proposed scheme as well as that of two previously known schemes, the concentration and molecular shift keying modulations, are derived for the Poisson model by taking into account the error propagation effect of previously decoded symbols.     In this paper, we present a very fast and accurate technique to estimate the soft error rate of digital circuits in the presence of Multiple Event Transients (METs). In the proposed technique, called Multiple Event Probability Propagation (MEPP), a four-value logic and probability set are used to accurately propagate the effects of multiple erroneous values (transients) due to METs to the outputs and obtain soft error rate.     We study the problem of optimizing the symbol error probability (SEP) performance of cluster-based cooperative wireless sensor networks (WSNs). We propose that to achieve the minimum SEP at the destination, a joint optimization of power allocation and relay selection should be accomplished. To this aim, we reformulate the SEP performance of a simple cluster-based cooperative WSN in the general form and solve the joint optimization problem efficiently. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed joint optimization can efficiently improve the SEP performance of the network in comparison with the previous disjoint optimal relay selection schemes
