    We have developed an enhanced technique for characterizing quantum optical processes based on probing unknown quantum processes only with coherent states. Our method substantially improves the original proposal (Lobino et al 2008 Science 322 563), which uses a filtered Glauber-Sudarshan decomposition to determine the effect of the process on an arbitrary state. We introduce a new relation between the action of a general quantum process on coherent state inputs and its action on an arbitrary quantum state.     In this paper, we derive optimal policies for cooperation of a wireless node in relaying the packets of a source node, in a random access environment. In our scenario, the source node sends its packets by its harvested energy and the relay node exploits its harvested energy in relaying the source packets not detected successfully at the destination. The relaying policies determine whether the relay node accepts or rejects the unsuccessfully transmitted source packets and how the relay node prioritizes the accepted source packets to its own packets.     Critical crescent moon detection is a new subject in astronomical image processing. Astronomers take photos with valuable astronomical calculations using CCD cameras and telescopes.     Abstract
    Control of unstable non-minimum-phase delayed stochastic processes is a challenging problem. In this work based on the Diophantine equation and using pole-placement technique, a discrete control scheme for such processes has been proposed. Robust stability of the suggested control structure has been shown. Advantages of the proposed scheme over the existing algorithms have been shown through computer simulations. It has been shown that performance of the proposed scheme for handling model mismatch and colored noise is superior to the previous work proposed in the literature

This task is accomplished by precisely mapping the problem of "query-based summarization of temporal ordering questions" in the field of Natural Language Processing to "verifying a finite state model against a temporal formula" in the realm of Model Checking.     Abstract
    In this paper, a problem in spoken dialogue systems namely the menu problem, is introduced and solved by a POMDP model. To overcome the large size of the menu problem, a new method for achieving an optimal policy called divided POMDP method is introduced. Conditions for the problem to be solved by the proposed method are specified and the problem properties resulting in the given conditions are presented. The proposed method is evaluated using a typical menu problem with different menu sizes and it is shown that this method is superior to the conventional methods such as FRTDP for the problems it is capable to solve.     A new approach to perform analog optical differentiation is presented using half-wavelength slabs. First, a half-wavelength dielectric slab is used to design a first order differentiator. The latter works properly for both major polarizations, in contrast to our previously design based on Brewster effect (Youssefi et al., 2016). Inspired by the proposed dielectric differentiator, and by exploiting the unique features of graphene, we further design and demonstrate a reconfigurable and highly miniaturized differentiator using a half-wavelength plasmonic graphene film.
