Using RLS adaptive algorithm for packet loss replacement in VOIP

    , Article Proceedings of the 2011 International Conference on Image Processing, Computer Vision, and Pattern Recognition, IPCV 2011, 18 July 2011 through 21 July 2011 ; Volume 2 , July , 2011 , Pages 753-756 ; 9781601321916 (ISBN) Miralavi, S.R ; Ghorshi, S ; Mortazavi, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this paper, a low order recursive linear prediction method and recursive least square as an adaptive filter (LP-RLS) are introduced to predict the speech and the excitation signals. In real-time packet-based communication systems, one major problem is misrouted or delayed packets which results in degraded perceived voice quality. If packets are not available on time, the packet is known as lost packet. The easiest task of a network terminal receiver is to replace silence for the duration of lost speech segments. In a high quality communication system, to avoid quality reduction due to packet loss, a suitable method and/or algorithm is needed to replace the missing segments of speech. The...

    Abstract
In this paper, we present basic equation of efficient recursive least square algorithm based on GMSK modulation by linear superposition of amplitude modulated pulses for reduction complexity in equalizer. In this here, the DFE method be improved using of signal processing technique and soft decision which is called "generalized DFE or GDFEmethodquot;. We compare the performance and complexity GDFE with MLSE method for different channels used in GSM systems. The GDFE differs from the conventional DFE in its tap values and value of tap feedback filter related with channel length, which discussed in simulation result. Our simulation results, obtained for fading multi path channels, show that...

Design of a fault tolerated intelligent control system for load following operation in a nuclear power plant

    Abstract
Fault detection has always an important role in maintaining the system stability and assuring satisfactory and safe operation. In this paper a method based on system identification is used for fault detection on a nuclear reactor. The combination of Extended Kalman Filter and recursive Least Square are used to identify the system parameters. Another goal of this paper is design of a fault tolerant control system for a nuclear reactor during power change operation. The proposed controller is an adaptive neuro-fuzzy controller based on emotional learning. Performance of the controller in term of transient response and robustness against failure is very good and outstanding

Chaos control in delayed phase space constructed by the Takens embedding theory

    , Article Communications in Nonlinear Science and Numerical Simulation ; Volume 54 , 2018 , Pages 453-465 ; 10075704 (ISSN) Hajiloo, R ; Salarieh, H ; Alasty, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this paper, the problem of chaos control in discrete-time chaotic systems with unknown governing equations and limited measurable states is investigated. Using the time-series of only one measurable state, an algorithm is proposed to stabilize unstable fixed points. The approach consists of three steps: first, using Takens embedding theory, a delayed phase space preserving the topological characteristics of the unknown system is reconstructed. Second, a dynamic model is identified by recursive least squares method to estimate the time-series data in the delayed phase space. Finally, based on the reconstructed model, an appropriate linear delayed feedback controller is obtained for...

An analytic methodology to determine generators redispatch for proactive damping of critical electromechanical oscillations

, Article International Journal of Electrical Power and Energy Systems ; Volume 123 , 2020 Setareh, M ; Parniani, M ; Aminifar, F ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd  2020
    Abstract
This paper presents a model-based method for applying online proactive generators redispatch to improve damping of the critical electromechanical oscillations of power system. The proposed method comprises two stages: 1) monitoring modal characteristics of oscillatory modes in ambient condition, and 2) applying generators redispatch based on sensitivities of the critical mode to the generators active power changes using a new analytic method. An online identification method such as error feedback lattice recursive least square adaptive filter is applied for online estimation of the oscillatory modes. Then, whenever the damping ratio of an identified mode is less than a preset threshold, its...

Geometry control of the deposited layer in a nonplanar laser cladding process using a variable structure controller

    , Article Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering, Transactions of the ASME ; Volume 130, Issue 3 , 2008 , Pages 0310031-03100311 ; 10871357 (ISSN) Fathi, A ; Khajepour, A ; Durali, M ; Toyserkani, E ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
This paper presents a closed-loop laser cladding process used in nonplanar deposition of desired metallic materials. In the proposed system, the deposited layer geometry is continuously controlled via a sliding mode controller (SMC). The controller, which uses the scanning speed as the control input, is designed based on a parametric Hammerstein model. The model is a parametric dynamic model with several unknown parameters, which are identified experimentally using the recursive least squares method. The designed SMC is robust to all model parameters' uncertainties and disturbances. The results showed that the tracking accuracy improves and the chattering effect reduces if an integrator on...
