    Abstract
The biodegradation behavior of Mg, coated by polymethyl methacrylate as well as polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA)−bioactive glass (BG) composite was investigated. Electrophoretic deposition and dip coating techniques were adopted to prepare composite coating using a suspension of different percentages of the above two chemical materials. The deposited coatings were characterized using SEM, EDS, FTIR, and water contact angle measurements. Biodegradation behavior study of the coated Mg was performed using linear polarization, impedance spectroscopy, and immersion tests in simulated body fluid. The compact and homogeneous composite coating was developed as evidenced by electron microscopy results....

The relation between particle size and transformation temperature of gibbsite to αLPHA-alumina

    , Article Mineral Processing and Extractive Metallurgy: Transactions of the Institute of Mining and Metallurgy ; Volume 131, Issue 2 , 2022 , Pages 111-121 ; 25726641 (ISSN) Ahmadabadi, M.N ; Nemati, A ; Arzani, K ; Baghshahi, S ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The transformation of gibbsite to α-alumina occurs in the range 1100 to 1300°C. The higher the calcination temperature, the larger the crystallites and this leads to abnormal grain growth. The main goal of this research was to reduce the transformation temperature of gibbsite to α-alumina by reducing the gibbsite particles size. The sodium content of the gibbsite used in the study was reduced to less than 0.1% by washing it in HCl solution. It was then ground in a fast mill at ambient conditions for different times then calcined at different temperatures. The microstructure, particles size and thermal behaviour of the samples were examined with SEM, XRD, XRF, PSA and STA, respectively. In a...

The impact of technological and social capabilities on innovation performance: a technological catch-up perspective

    , Article Technology in Society ; Volume 68 , 2022 ; 0160791X (ISSN) Fakhimi, M ; Miremadi, I ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd  2022
    Abstract
The literature on technological capabilities has highlighted the effects of innovation on economic growth. However, further analysis is required to determine how innovation factors affect the technological catch-up process outputs. The main purpose of the present study is therefore to determine the impacts of innovation-building factors (i.e., technological and social capabilities) on the innovation outputs. The role of market and innovation financing in technological catch-up has also been investigated. Partial least squares structural equation modeling has been employed to identify which factors have the most significant effects on this process. We have extracted twelve hypotheses from the...

    Abstract
Solar heater has been known as an application of the solar thermal energy that is commonly employed for water heating. Purpose of this research is to introduce a conceptual model for employing solar water heaters (SWHs) in Yazd, Iran. Moreover, structural equation modeling (SEM) is used for assessing effect(s) of the available parameters on the suggested model. Political-cultural-social issues, economic issues, financial support, geographic location, infrastructure, and interactions were assessed as the independent variables of the study. AMOS was used to implement the processes and design the research questionnaire. According to SEM, the dependent variable “interaction” via “economic...
