    We consider multirate time-hopping ultra-wideband (TH-UWB) communication systems where each user can have several multirate services. We investigate both constant spreading factor scheme, which uses multicode, and variable spreading factor scheme, which uses constant chip time and variable frame number. For multicode structure, we consider two methods. In the first, one kind of signature (PN) code is used to distinguish users and their diverse services alike.     Abstract
    The success of restoring images degraded by motion blur highly depends on precise estimation of parameters such as motion direction and length that were involved in the motion blur function. In this paper we suggest a method which uses Radon transform to estimate motion direction and for estimating motion length we used curve fitting methods to provide an equation that could model the behaviour of Fourier transform of images that were degraded with different motion lengths. The input to this model is a property found to be available in the Fourier transform of the degraded image and its output is an estimate for the motion length.     Abstract
    In this paper, we propose a novel multicarrier spread-spectrum multiple-access system, called MC-FH-CDMA, in which the ideas behind two other multiple-access systems, namely MC-CDMA and MGM, are used to support multimedia multi-rate services, though improving or preserving the system performance without increasing complexity. We develop a unified approach for the performance analysis of these three systems in a correlated Rayleigh fading uplink channel with BPSK modulation and MRC combining, and compare the results with each other. © 2002 IEEE

    Liquefaction-induced lateral spreading is one of the most challenging problems in geotechnical earthquake engineering. This phenomenon may impose severe damages on deep foundations in large earthquakes. In this study, six physical modeling are designed, built and tested to investigate the effects of lateral spreading on deep foundations and also assess one mitigation method. The experiments were conducted using 1g shake table of Sharif university of technology.     In this paper, we present and discuss the physical implementation and testing of a Spectrally-Encoded Spread-Time Code Devision Multiple Access (SE/ST-CDMA) transceiver. The proposed design is suitable for multiple-access and anti jamming wireless communication systems.     Abstract
    This paper presents a new and simple algorithm for partitioning the input domain for implementation of Active Learning Method (ALM) algorithm. ALM is a pattern-based algorithm for soft computing which uses the Ink Drop Spread (IDS) algorithm as its main engine for feature extraction. In this paper a simple algorithm is introduced with a few computation cost. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, it is applied to two applications, system modeling and pattern recognition. Simulation results show the effectiveness of our algorithm in specifying the appropriate points for dividing the inputs domains

    This paper introduces an innovative adaptive controller based on the actor-critic method. The proposed approach employs the ink drop spread (IDS) method as its main engine. The IDS method is a new trend in softcomputing approaches that is a universal fuzzy modeling technique and has been also used as a supervised controller.     Liquefaction-induced lateral spreading caused severe damages to pile foundations during past earthquakes. Micropiles can be used as a mitigation strategy against lateral spreading e ects on pile foundations. However, the available knowledge about the possible efficiency of this strategy is quite limited.     Loads from laterally spreading ground have been a major cause of damages to pile foundations in past earthquakes. Analysis of case histories have shown that damages are particularly intense when a nonliquefiable surface crust layer spreads laterally over underling liquefied layers. In this research the effect of lateral spreading due to liquefaction on single piles embede in a gently sloping ground has been investigated. Finite element method using OpenSees is used to model the pile and embedded soil.     For a graph G of order n, let λ 2 (G) denote its second smallest Laplacian eigenvalue. It was conjectured that λ 2 (G)+λ 2 (G‾)≥1, where G‾ is the complement of G. For any x∈R n , let ∇ x ∈R (n2) be the vector whose {i,j}-th entry is |x i −x j |. In this paper, we show the aforementioned conjecture is equivalent to prove that every two orthonormal vectors f,g∈R n with zero mean satisfy ‖∇ f −∇ g ‖ 2 ≥2. In this article, it is shown that for the validity of the conjecture it suffices to prove that the conjecture holds for all permutation graphs. © 2019 Elsevier Inc
