    Abstract
Insufficient electrocatalytic activity for oxygen reduction/evolution in lanthanum strontium ferrite (LSF) perovskites at temperatures below 700 °C, limits the utilization of these Co-free oxides as oxygen electrodes for intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel/electrolysis cells (SOFC/SOEC). Marked performance improvement is here reported by decorating the surface with Pr2Ni1-xCuxO4 catalyst particles. Infiltrating porous LSF electrodes with aqueous nitrates solutions containing Pr, Ni and Cu, targeting the compositions Pr2Ni0.7Cu0.3O4 and Pr2Ni0.6Cu0.4O4, significantly reduces the polarization resistance at 650 °C from 0.98 Ω cm2 to 0.16 Ω cm2 and 0.13 Ω cm2 respectively. Abstract
In the present study, the effects of Sr and Mg were investigated on mechanical and biological properties of 58S bioactive glass (BG). SiO2-P2O5-CaO BG with different contents of Sr and Mg were synthesized via the sol-gel method and immersed in simulated body fluid (SBF) for several days to explore their biocompatibility. Precise analyses of the BG using X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy showed that the Mg-doped BG containing 8 wt % MgO possessed better biocompatibility. It was also found that mechanical properties of the BG could be improved by increasing the amounts of MgO and SrO. Both 5Sr-BG and 8Mg-BG samples did not exhibit any...

    , Article Electric Power Systems Research ; Volume 80, Issue 2 , February , 2010 , Pages 184-195 ; 03787796 (ISSN) Rahimi, M ; Parniani, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2010
    Abstract
This paper deals with the low voltage ride-through (LVRT) control of wind turbines with doubly fed induction generators (DFIGs) under symmetrical voltage dips. The investigation first develops a mathematical formula for the rotor current and rotor voltage when DFIG is subjected to a symmetrical voltage dip. From the analysis, the reasons of rotor inrush current and factors influencing it are inferred. Then, a control scheme enhancing the wind turbine LVRT capability is designed and simulated. The proposed control scheme consists of a nonlinear control strategy applied to the rotor-side converter and a dc-link voltage control applied to the grid-side converter. It improves the damping of DFIG...

    2005
    Abstract
Tetragonal Gd1-xPrxBaSrCu3O 7-δ (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) polycrystalline samples have been prepared by the standard solid-state reaction, and characterized by XRD and SEM. Resistance measurements and XRD patterns show site mixing between rare earth R and Sr is less than R and Ca. Contrary to Gd1-xPrxBa 2Cu3O7-δ, a hump on the ρ(T) curve is observed at about 80 K. Based on the resistivity measurements, the effect of Pr substitution in the 1113 structure, in comparison with the 123 structure, on the increase of pseudogap temperature is investigated. The normal state resistivity has been analyzed by the two and three dimensional variable range hopping (2D-VRH and 3D-VRH) and Coulomb gap. For the low...

    Abstract
We have studied the pressure-induced structural, magnetic and electronic properties of AeFe 2 As 2 (Ae = Ba, Sr, Ca) compounds in the framework of density functional theory within the GGA-PBE method. The effects of chemical pressure generated by Sr and Ca substitutions in BaFe 2 As 2 have been investigated. We have found a magnetic transition at the same primitive unit cell volume, around 81 Å 3 for the (Ba⧹Ca)Fe 2 As 2 compounds, which predicts a magnetic transition pressure of 12 GPa for SrFe 2 As 2 . The structural parameters of FeAs 4 tetrahedra are obtained after ionic relaxation and compared with the existing experimental results. The change of these internal parameters is ascribed to...

    Abstract
For improving competitiveness of SOEC/SOFC-technology it is desirable to reduce the temperature of operation down towards 500 oC - 600 oC. This requires improvement of the oxygen electrode such that this does not limit performance. Here, we report results on modifying various back-bone type oxygen electrodes via infiltration of materials targeting a surface decoration with Pr-oxide or Pr,Ni,Cu-oxides. Different composite back-bone electrodes (based on micron-sized particles) were investigated; La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3/Ce0.9Gd0.1O2, (LSCF/CGO), La0.6Sr0.4FeO3 (LSF), and LaNi0.6Fe0.4O3/Ce0.9Gd0.1O2 (LNF/CGO). Marked performance improvements could be achieved with the infiltration, including a...
