    Is the unity power factor realizable at the load terminals?

    Abstract
    Contrary to the widespread understanding, this paper shows by means of mathematics and numerics that a perfect power factor correction cannot be made at the load terminals only. To achieve a perfect power factor correction, the supply commitment is required as well. In the absence of such commitment, the power factor cannot reach unity unless we refine the very definition of power factor. But the refined power factor is then slightly higher than the conventional one. The refined expression for power factor is a function of the load parameters as well as the line characteristics. For an ideal power system (with no line losses), this coincides with the conventional formula. © 2008 IEEE

    In this study, a series of heteroatoms including nitrogen, oxygen, and sulfur were added to different positions of the model asphaltene structure to study the effect of the heteroatom presence in the self-aggregation of the model asphaltenes. Molecular Dynamics was used to calculate Solubility Parameters, Radial Distribution Function, and Relative Solubility Parameters.     In this paper, we investigated phase synchronization in delayed dynamical networks. Non-identical spiking Hindmarsh-Rose neurons were considered as individual dynamical systems and coupled through a number of network structures such as scale-free, Erdos-Rényi, and modular. The individual neurons were coupled through excitatory chemical synapses with uniform or distributed time delays.     This paper discusses the dynamic behavior of the brushless doubly fed induction generator during the grid faults which lead to a decrease in the generator's terminal voltage. The variation of the fluxes, back EMFs, and currents are analyzed during and after the voltage dip. Furthermore, two alternative approaches are proposed to improve the generator ride-through capability using crowbar and series dynamic resistor circuits.     Bus network design is an important problem in public transportation. In practice, some parameters of this problem are uncertain. We propose two models for the bus terminal location problem with fuzzy parameters. In the first formulation, the number of passengers corresponding to each node is a fuzzy number.
