Abstract
In this paper a modified neighbor aware medium-access control protocol is proposed designed for wireless sensor networks. Wireless sensor networks are generally comprised of battery powered nodes. These nodes are densely deployed in an ad-hoc structure. The main objective for sensor networks is low power consumption while latency is less important. In wireless body area networks (WBANs) it is necessary to devise an energy-efficient MAC scheduling mechanism which is capable of meeting strict QoS requirements. Abstract
The achievement of our previously proposed space-time coding algorithm entitled full-rate linear-receiver space-time block code (FRLR STBC) has motivated us to propose, in this paper, a new class of high-rate space-time-frequency block codes (STFBCs) over frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channels. We have called these codes FRLR STFBCs with interleaving (FRLR STFBCs-I). FRLR STFBCs-I could achieve a full-diversity property over quasi-static channels. Accurate modeling of sea clutter and detection of low observable targets within sea clutter are the major goals of radar signal processing applications. Recently, fractal geometry has been applied to the analysis of high range resolution radar sea clutters. The box-counting method is widely used to estimate fractal dimension but it has some drawbacks. We explain the drawbacks and propose a new fractal dimension based detector to increase detection performance in comparison with traditional detectors. Recent demands toward high-speed wireless networks are growing. IEEE 802.11n, as the latest standard toward achieving higher speeds, aims to enhance IEEE 802.11 for higher throughputs. There are few works which analyze performance of this protocol in single-hop networks in terms of MAC layer-based parameters. Abstract
A simulation tool, based on Ray Tracing method, has been developed and validated for millimeter-wave band. This tool helps for predicting the signal level as well as the delay characteristics of a propagation channel. Since the resultant of the received replicas of the transmitted signal at receiver point can experience a deep fade and consequently the quality degradation, a proper diversity method can effectively alleviate this drawback. One of the most challenging problems in Opportunistic Spectrum Access (OSA) is to design channel sensing-based protocol in multi secondary users (SUs) network. Quality of Service (QoS) requirements for SUs have significant implications on this protocol design. In this paper, we propose a new method to find joint policies for SUs which not only tries to guarantee QoS requirements but also maximize network throughput. We use Decentralized Partially Observable Markov Decision Process (Dec-POMDP) to formulate interactions between SUs. Abstract
In this paper, we introduce a new cost function for SIR-Based uplink power control algorithms that takes into account transmission power level as well as target Signal-to-Interference Ratio (SIR) deviation. Existence of Nash equilibrium point, its uniqueness and the algorithm convergence are proved in the framework of so-called standard power control schemes. As shown through simulations, the proposed method results in significant transmit power reduction while achieving almost the same average SIR level. The everlasting bandwidth limitations in wireless communication networks has directed the researchers' thrust toward analyzing the prospect of overloaded Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA). In this paper, we have proposed a Genetic Algorithm in search of optimum signature matrices for binary-input synchronous CDMA. Abstract
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is one of the widely used multiplexing techniques in wireless communications and especially cognitive radio networks. One of the key challenges of this technique is its high peak to average power ratio (PAPR) of the transmitted signal. This paper, introduces a new approach to PAPR reduction of OFDM signals using harmony search algorithm (HSA) based on the partial transmit sequence (PTS) method. Abstract
Yeh et al. have recently proposed a mutual authentication protocol based on EPC Class-1 Gen.-2 standard. They claim their protocol is secure against adversarial attacks and also provides forward secrecy. In this paper we show that the proposed protocol does not have cited security features properly. A powerful and practical attack is presented on this protocol whereby the whole security of the protocol is broken. Furthermore, Yeh et al.'s protocol does not assure the untraceabilitiy and backwarduntraceabilitiy attributes. Infrared indoor wireless communications using nondirected links are subject to severe multipath distortion which causes intersymbol interference (ISI). To lessen multipath distortion effect and thereby to improve the system performance, in this paper, we consider a new time-hopping based multiple access scheme for this channel, in which one pulse is transmitted in each bit interval. In this paper we analyze and investigate the bit error rate (BER) performance of multiple-input multiple-output underwater wireless optical communication (MIMO-UWOC) systems. In addition to exact BER expressions, we also obtain an upper bound on the system BER. To effectively estimate the BER expressions, we use Gauss-Hermite quadrature formula as well as approximation to the sum of log-normal random variables. In this paper we introduce two adaptive power control algorithms for downlink of underwater wireless optical cellular networks. The first approach is based on the angle of user's position with respect to optical base transceiver station (OBTS) of the cell. In Cognitive Radio (CR), in order to avoid interference in the Primary Users (PU), some subcarriers need to be deactivated. In systems based on Multicarrier Code Division Multiple Access (MC-CDMA), this causes losing orthogonality among different spreading codes, leading to poor Bit Error Rate (BER) performance. Motivated by the statistical correspondence between phases of the transmitted and received vectors, we present a fast decoding method for quasi-orthogonal space-time block codes (QOSTBCs) in this paper. The proposed decoder selects proper candidates from precomputed and sorted sets by focusing on the phase of a specific entry of the combined and decoupled vector. The ML metric of the most probable candidates is first evaluated, and then, the remaining candidates are assessed based on the similarity between the phases.
