Abstract
The Iranian government has set a target of a 20% share of non-fossil fuel electricity generation by 2030, whose main result is reducing Green House Gas (GHG) emissions (about 182 million tonnes in 2017) to achieve the targets pledged under the Paris Climate Accord. So, this paper presents a comprehensive model on the expansion of non-fossil technology to evaluate the impact of increasing their share in Iran’s electricity supply system. This analytical approach is based on system dynamics (SD) that was developed based on dynamic behavior of electricity market, with an emphasis on the expansion of non-fossil fuels (solar photovoltaics, wind turbines, expansion turbines, and hydro power) in the...

Abstract
As part of its Paris Agreement commitment, Iran pledged to decrease 4 % of its carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from 2020 to 2030. About 29% of total emission in Iran belongs to electricity supply while energy consumption in other sectors (transport, household, and industry) have a lower share in CO2 emission. The main concern here is finding the optimal mix of power plants in the electricity supply system that should be deployed to meet Iran’s mentioned respective targets and considering simultaneously interests of consumers and producers in this energy system. So, we developed a non-linear mathematical programming model for Iran’s electricity system to address this concern with changing...

Abstract
Price of oil is important for the economies of oil exporting and oil importing countries alike. Therefore, insight into the likely future behaviour and patterns of oil prices can improve economic planning and reduce the impacts of oil market fluctuations. This paper aims to improve the application of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) techniques to prediction of oil price. We develop a dynamic Nonlinear Auto Regressive model with eXogenous input (NARX) as a form of ANN to account for the time factor. We estimate the model using macroeconomic data from OECD countries. In order to compare the results, we develop time series and ANN static models. We then use the output of time series model to...

Abstract
Although different procedures have been proposed to calculate the parameters of Archie's (1942) equation, most of them suffer from lack of accuracy because these are not solved simultaneously In this article, by applying two novel methods, a modified genetic algorithm (MGA) and homogeneous distribution of parameters (HDP), the above-mentioned unknown parameters were determined simultaneously. Furthermore, for two case studies using two data sets from Permian Glerito and Permian Clearfork reservoirs, a comparison is made between other methods (e.g., traditional graphical method and SmnaM; Frailey et al., 2001) and the proposed methods that demonstrated the greater accuracy of the two newly...

Abstract
In this article, ferrohydrodynamic forced-convection heat transfer from a heated sphere embedded in a ferrofluid in the presence of the uniform external magnetic field has been studied numerically for the first time over a wide range of Reynolds number value, nanoparticle diameter, particle volume fraction, and magnetic field intensity. Despite the uniform external magnetic field applied, the internal magnetic field near the sphere could be nonuniform due to the considerable difference between the relative magnetic permeability of the sphere and the surrounding medium. Kelvin body force arises from this nonuniformity and induces vortexes near the sphere. These vortexes disturb the boundary...

Abstract
In this paper, a novel approach has been presented to simulate and optimize the pulsating heat pipes (PHPs). The used pulsating heat pipe setup was designed and constructed for this study. Due to the lack of a general mathematical model for exact analysis of the PHPs, a method has been applied for simulation and optimization using the natural algorithms. In this way, the simulator consists of a kind of multilayer perceptron neural network, which is trained by experimental results obtained from our PHP setup. The results show that the complex behavior of PHPs can be successfully described by the non-linear structure of this simulator. The input variables of the neural network are input heat...

Abstract
Numerous advantages of application of tailor welded blanks (TWBs) in automobile industry, namely reduction of weight, fuel consumption and air pollution, have made the manufacturers eager to investigate in this field. On the other hand, while experiments generally provide valuable information in regard with mechanical behaviors, but utilization of simulation methods has extended vastly due to time and cost saving issues. One challenging issue in numerically analyzing the forming behavior of transversely welded TWBs, welded by laser welding methods, has been the presence of weld zone. While some researchers believe that during simulation, the weld zone can be neglected due to its minority and...

Abstract
To study the rate of energy and momentum loss of a heavy quark in QGP, specifically in the hydrodynamic regime, we use fluid/gravity duality and construct a perturbative procedure to find the string solution in gravity side. We show that by this construction, the position of the world-sheet horizon and thereby the drag force exerted on the quark can be computed perturbatively, order by order in a boundary derivative expansion, for a wide range of quark velocities. At ideal order, our result is just the localized expression of the drag force exerted on a moving quark in thermal plasma, while for a quark whose velocity does not belong to the mentioned range, we predict a nonlocal drag force....

Abstract
We determine the most general form of the covariant drag force exerted on a quark moving through a fluid dynamical flow. Up to first order in derivative expansion, our general formula requires the specification of seven coefficient functions. We use the perturbative method introduced in arXiv:1202.2737 and find all these coefficients in the hydrodynamic regime of a N = 4 SYM plasma. Having this general formula, we can obtain the rate of the energy and momentum loss of a quark, namely the drag force, in a general flow. This result makes it possible to perturbatively study the motion of heavy quarks moving through the Bjorken flow up to first order in derivative expansion

Abstract
Forming limit diagrams (FLDs) are extensively used in industries, particularly the auto industry. The establishment of these diagrams using a predictive approach can lead to reduction in both cost and time. In the present work, Gurson-Tvergaard-Needleman (GTN), a porosity-based model, was used to predict the FLD of an interstitial-free steel via finite element simulation. Optimum values of the GTN model were obtained by applying a response surface methodology (RSM) based on central composite design. Results show that RSM is a good method for an appropriate determination of the GTN model parameters, such as initial void volume fraction, effective void volume fraction, critical void volume...

Abstract
In this article, the effects of nonuniform magnetic fields on the hydrodynamics and heat transfer from a heated sphere to its surrounding ferrofluid flow have been investigated. Kelvin body forces originate from the nonuniformity of the applied magnetic field and can generate the vortices behind the sphere leading to a considerable change in the velocity and temperature fields. The applied magnetic field disturbs the thermal boundary layer and decreases heat-transfer resistance, leading to a significant enhancement in the heat-transfer coefficient. Variations of the local and average Nusselt number value (Nu), separation angle, recirculation length, and drag coefficient were considered to...

Abstract
In this article, the heat transfer of magnetic nanofluids over a sphere has been considered in the presence of an external oscillating uniform magnetic field for a wide range of Reynolds number values (Re). This study incorporates the effect of magnetic permeability and purposes the optimal operating condition for the first time. The significant difference between the magnetic property of the nanofluid and the heated sphere makes a non-uniform magnetic field around the sphere resulting in a significant alteration in the distribution of velocity and temperature around sphere. The variations of average Nusselt number (Nuavg) and drag coefficient (Cd) have been studied to demonstrate the...

Abstract
In this paper, design and exergy method optimization of a 5 kW power output polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) fuel cell with cogeneration application has been investigated. It is assumed that cooling water is passed through the fuel cell cooling channel, warmed up and supplied for space heating applications. The performance of the proposed system has been optimized by the second law based on exergy analysis. Results show that for maximum system efficiency and minimum entropy generation, fuel cell temperature and voltage should be as high as possible in the range of application. Also, the fuel cell pressure and stoichiometric air:fuel ratio should be as low as possible in the range of...
