    Abstract
Energy communities are one of the vital puzzle pieces of future smart cities. This paper proposes a novel structure for a sustainable smart city by integrating energy communities in a multi-carrier energy network. Each energy community has a manager; the so-called Energy Community Managers (ECM), who trades energy with the upstream Multi-Carrier Network Operator (MCNO). On the other hand, MCNO participates in the upstream energy markets to satisfy the demands of energy communities by maximizing its own profit. Therefore, ECMs and MCNO should solve a bilevel optimization problem associated with some common variables at both levels such as: energy carrier price and the amount of energy carrier...

    Abstract
Let R be a ring and f(x1,..., xn) be a polynomial in noncommutative indeterminates x1,..., xn with coefficients from ℤ and zero constant. The ring R is said to be an f-ring if f(r1,..., rn) = 0 for all r1,..., rn of R and a virtually f-ring if for every n infinite subsets X1,..., Xn (not necessarily distinct) of R, there exist n elements r1 ∈ X1,...,rn ∈ Xn such that f(r1,..., rn) = 0. Let R* be the 'smallest' ring (in some sense) with identity containing R such that Char (R) = Char (R*). Then denote by ZR the subring generated by the identity of R* and denote by f̄R the image of f in ZR [x1,..., xn] (the ring of polynomials with coefficients in ZR in commutative indeterminates x1,..., xn)....

    Abstract
Smart home is a small but an important energy segment that has a significant potential to implement authentic energy policies, where human is a major decision-maker in the home energy management dilemma. Therefore, humans’ emotions and tendencies plays a vital role as the End-User's daily decisions. In this paper, we develop a behavioral home energy management model based on time-driven prospect theory incorporating energy storage devices, distributed energy resources, and smart flexible home appliances. The conventional prospect theory is then modified by considering the psychological time discount effect in the value function. The non-flexible load and photovoltaic generation uncertainties...

    Abstract
To exert the optimum effect, the chemical exchange process to boron isotope separation was investigated. In this enrichment method the distillation of dimethyl ether-boron trifluoride complex, which was one of the most efficient industrial methods for purification of isotope boron-10, was optimized. In chemical exchange process of boron isotopes separation two chemical reactions occur. The first one is the decomposition reaction that is an endothermic reaction. The second one is the exchange reaction that is a pyrogenic reaction. With increasing temperature, the decomposition reaction is speeded while the exchange reaction is slowed down. Affecting on both decomposition and exchange...

Applying feature selection and machine learning techniques to estimate the biomass higher heating value

    , Article Scientific Reports ; Volume 13, Issue 1 , 2023 ; 20452322 (ISSN) Abdollahi, A ; Ranjbar, F ; Razeghi Jahromi, D ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The biomass higher heating value (HHV) is an important thermal property that determines the amount of recoverable energy from agriculture byproducts. Precise laboratory measurement or accurate prediction of the HHV is essential for designing biomass conversion equipment. The current study combines feature selection scenarios and machine learning tools to establish a general model for estimating biomass HHV. Multiple linear regression and Pearson’s correlation coefficients justified that volatile matter, nitrogen, and oxygen content of biomass samples have a slight effect on the HHV and it is better to ignore them during the HHV modeling. Then, the prediction performance of random forest,...

    Abstract
This paper proposes a nanophotonic Network-on-Chip architecture based on the traditional Cube-Connected Cycles topology (CCC), which is named as ONC3. We also suggest a contention-free quasi-Dimension-Order-Routing algorithm for the proposed structure. Compared to the previous 2D layouts, our novel scheme lessens the crosstalk parameter of the insertion loss and consequently, the power consumption. Besides, the router structure is area-efficient. On the other hand, optical destination checking supersedes electrical resource reservation, with utilizing passive wavelength routing method and Wavelength Division Multiplexing scheme, simultaneously. The efficiency of the proposed architecture, in...

    Abstract
Characterizing and modeling the fatigue performance of an asphalt binder is important when designing asphalt mixtures which can resist premature fatigue failure. Performance grading (PG) standards include the fatigue factor (G*.sinδ) to evaluate the fatigue resistance of asphalt binders. This criterion seems to be inaccurate, especially when applied to modified asphalt binders. American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) TP 101 has been designed to evaluate the fatigue resistance of asphalt binders using Schapery’s work potential theory. The damage evolution rate (α parameter) is the key element of this method and is calculated from the rheological properties...

    Non-commuting graph of a group

    Abstract
Let G be a non-abelian group and let Z ( G ) be the center of G. Associate a graph ΓG (called non-commuting graph of G) with G as follows: Take G Z ( G ) as the vertices of ΓG and join two distinct vertices x and y, whenever x y ≠ y x. We want to explore how the graph theoretical properties of ΓG can effect on the group theoretical properties of G. We conjecture that if G and H are two non-abelian finite groups such that ΓG ≅ ΓH, then | G | = | H |. Among other results we show that if G is a finite non-abelian nilpotent group and H is a group such that ΓG ≅ ΓH and | G | = | H |, then H is nilpotent. © 2006 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved

Modeling and solving a bi-objective joint replenishment-location problem under incremental discount: MOHSA and NSGA-II

    Springer Verlag  2018
    Abstract
In this paper, the joint replenishment-location problem of some distribution centers (DCs) with a centralized decision maker who is responsible for ordering and dispatching shipments of a single product is modeled. The warehouse spaces of the DCs are limited and the product is sold under an incremental discount policy. The model seeks to minimize the total cost of the supply chain under the joint replenishment policy along with minimizing the cost of locating the DCs in potential sites as the first objective. The second objective is to minimize the warehouse space of all DCs using the revisable approach. As the proposed model is a bi-objective integer non-linear optimization problem...
