, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Abdollahi Nia, Masoud (Author) ; Zohour, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The set of human arm, forearm, and wrist has the ability of performing very miscellaneous movements which has led to human inspiration for designing sorts of robots for various tasks. The aim of the present study is the design and simulation of a robot, similar to the human hand and arm. In the beginning, a shape-adaptive 2 DOF under-actuated mechanism which is actuated by one motor, is selected as the second and third phalanges of the human finger. Also the first phalanx of the finger moves independently by another motor. By adding a ratchet to the second joint of the finger, with the help of only two actuators, the feasibility of exerting isotropic force to the object in three phalanges...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Abdollahi, Amir (Author) ; Ehsan, Mehdi (Supervisor) ; Rashidi-Nejad, Masoud (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Fast growing load in power systems associated with a large gap between heavy load and light load periods, generation scheduling and unit commitment (UC) problem has become a crucial issue in Scheduling time horizon. In a vertically integrated power system, unit commitment determines when to start-up or shut-down units and how to dispatch online generators over a given scheduling horizon in order to minimize the operating costs. Therefore main objective of this thesis is selected as unit commitment considering ramp rate, emission and line flow constraints. In this thesis four main works has been done: at first generation scheduling considering next hour is done which may yield to increase...

Synthesis and Characterization of High Molecular Weight Polyacrylamide and Cationic Polyacrylamide

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Abdollahi Banouei, Zohreh (Author) ; Frounchi, Masoud (Supervisor) ; Dadbin, Susan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In many industrial processes there is an urgent need for flocculation of suspensions that can’t flocculate easily through the time so flocculants are wildly used in these industries. Polymeric flocculants because of less needed dose are economically used. Polymeric flocculants divided to three categories: nonionic, anionic and cationic those are almost from polyacrylamide group. Studying mechanisms of flocculation, one of the main factors that enhance flocculation is molecular weight of polymer. Hence one of the goals of this work is to improve molecular weights of synthesized polymers as much as possible that is followed by viscometery, NMR, DSC and FTIR studies and ended with jar test....

    , Article Iranian Journal of Electrical and Electronic Engineering ; Volume 7, Issue 3 , Volume 7, Issue 3 , 2011 , Pages 168-178 ; 17352827 (ISSN) Shabani Nia, E ; Kasaei, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
Multicamera vehicle tracking is a necessary part of any video-based intelligent transportation system for extracting different traffic parameters; such as link travel times and origin/destination counts. In many applications, it is needed to locate traffic cameras disjoint from each other to cover a wide area. This paper presents a method for tracking moving vehicles in such camera networks. The proposed method introduces a new method for handling inter-object occlusions; as the most challenging part of the single camera tracking phase. This approach is based on coding the silhouette of moving objects before and after occlusion and separating occluded vehicles by computing the longest common...

Optimal synthesis of planar and spatial mechanism for path generation using regression deviation

    , Article Scientia Iranica ; Volume 12, Issue 2 , 2005 , Pages 190-198 ; 10263098 (ISSN) Zohoor, H ; Tavakoli Nia, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Sharif University of Technology  2005
    Abstract
This method introduces the structural error of regression deviation, which is an effective method for the path generation of a vast type of planar and spatial mechanism. The proposed method avoids point-by-point comparison and requirement of timing and reflects the difference between the two curves very effectively in the objective function. By decreasing the number of the design variables, this method would help considerably in decreasing CPU time. The objective function that is based on regression error would converge to a global minimum by a genetic algorithm. At the end, the effectiveness of the method is shown by two numerical examples. © Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Vehicle tracking is an essential requirement of any vision based Intelligent Transportation System for extracting different traffic parameters, efficiently. Handling inter-object occlusion is the most challenging part of tracking as a process of finding and following interested objects in a sequence of video frames. In this paper we present a system, based on code-book background model for motion segmentation and Kalman filter for tracking with a new approach for occlusion. This approach separates occluded vehicles based on longest common substring of chain codes. We use this tracking system to estimate some traffic parameters. Experimental results show the efficiency of the method. ©2009...

DOA error estimation in 3D cylindrical dipole array geometries including the mutual coupling effect

    , Article AEU - International Journal of Electronics and Communications ; Volume 84 , February , 2018 , Pages 321-330 ; 14348411 (ISSN) Poormohammad, S ; Sasan Nia, Z ; Farzaneh, F ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier GmbH  2018
    Abstract
The direction of arrival (DOA) error in dipole 3D arrays is estimated through Monte-Carlo simulations using the standard MUSIC algorithm. Novel 3D geometries are implemented which demonstrate better precision given the same lateral area. The mutual coupling effect is included by changing the search vector in the MUSIC DOA algorithm for the novel 3D geometries. A simple straight forward method is used which does not need complex electromagnetic computations. Simulations show that the proposed method can successfully account for the mutual coupling effects in two dimensional direction finding (both azimuth and elevation angle) with novel 3D array geometries. Reduced DOA estimation error is...

    , Article Journal of Pure and Applied Algebra ; Volume 198, Issue 1-3 , 2005 , Pages 9-19 ; 00224049 (ISSN) Abdollahi, A ; Akbari, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    2005
    Abstract
Let R be a ring and f(x1,..., xn) be a polynomial in noncommutative indeterminates x1,..., xn with coefficients from ℤ and zero constant. The ring R is said to be an f-ring if f(r1,..., rn) = 0 for all r1,..., rn of R and a virtually f-ring if for every n infinite subsets X1,..., Xn (not necessarily distinct) of R, there exist n elements r1 ∈ X1,...,rn ∈ Xn such that f(r1,..., rn) = 0. Let R* be the 'smallest' ring (in some sense) with identity containing R such that Char (R) = Char (R*). Then denote by ZR the subring generated by the identity of R* and denote by f̄R the image of f in ZR [x1,..., xn] (the ring of polynomials with coefficients in ZR in commutative indeterminates x1,..., xn)....

Hierarchical Optical Network-on-Chip Based on Hypercube Topology

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Abdollahi, Meisam (Author) ; Hesabi, Shahin (Supervisor)
    Abstract
According to prediction of ITRS, power consumption and bandwidth of processors' interconnection, will be the most major bottleneck of the System-on- Chips (SoCs) in the future. Therefore, in MultiProcessor System-on-Chip (MPSoC) architectures, the design constraints will be altered from "Computational Constraints" to "Communicational Constraints". There are three kinds of communications in the surface of the chip: Global, median and local. The main difference between global and local connections is that the length of latter one will be changed with technology. In other words, it is scalable like processor's elements while the length of global connections is practically constant. Even though...

    Abstract
Nowadays competition in business world has increased drastically. Under these competitive circumstances, it is the supply chains that compete against each other rather than individual firms. Accordingly trying to achieve integrated and synchronized management of activities within a supply chain has become inevitable. Recently researchers have found interest in a particular problem in a supply chain and that is to minimize inventory and routing costs in a supply chain. This problem is known as Inventory Routing Problem (IRP) and has been intensely examined in past few years. In this thesis we will try to expand this well-known problem in pricing dimension. We call this new problem “Inventory...

Effects of Mechanical Loading Environment on Aneurysm

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Abdollahi, Rahim (Author) ; Abedian, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Human body is subjected to body accelerations or vibrations in several circumstances. During gravitational changes, the hydrostatic pressure gradient along the body axis changes, and then body fluids are redistributed. Prolonged exposure to high level external acceleration may lead to serious or even fatal situations on account of disturbances in blood flow. Due to physiological importance of body acceleration many theoretical investigations have been carried out for the flow of blood under the influence of body acceleration. In this study, the mechanical loads that pilots experience during flight are considered. The aim of the present study is to investigate the effects of mechanical...

Physical Layer Authentication in the Internet of Things based on Deep Learning

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Abdollahi, Majid (Author) ; Behroozi, Hamid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
IoT security is an important step in the rapid development of its applications and ser-vices. Many security protocols have been defined to maintain security at higher communication layers, such as the transport layer and the application layer, but with the advent of quantum computers due to high-speed parallel computing, the previous methods are no longer secure and we have to establish security at lower layers such as the physical layer. The efficiency of IoT devices depends on the reliability of their message transmission. Cyber-attacks such as data injection, eavesdropping and man-in-the-middle can lead to security challenges. In this study, we propose a new deep learning based component...
