Studying Graphene Oxide Nanoflakes Size Effect on Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Naseri, Naimeh (Supervisor)
Abstract
Two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials are ultrathin nanomaterials with a high degree of anisotropy and chemical functionality. Research on 2D nanomaterials is still in its infancy, with the majority of research focusing on elucidating unique material characteristics and few reports focusing on biomedical applications of 2D nanomaterials. Here we report the properties and application of 2Dnanomaterials in field of bio technology while used main material in our project is graphene oxide for investigating its antibacterial properties. Because the properties of graphene oxide (GO)-based materials strongly depend on the lateral size and size distribution of GO nanosheets; therefore, GO and its...
Detailed seismic risk analysis of buildings using structural reliability methods

Abstract
This paper presents probabilistic models and methods for detailed seismic risk analysis of structures using structural reliability methods. This approach to risk analysis is an alternative to those that employ the theorem of total probability and conditional probability distributions. Detailed risk analysis entails probabilistic quantification of responses, the ensuing damage of individual structural and nonstructural components, and the resulting economic and social losses. Such an analysis requires a library of probabilistic models for hazards, responses, damage, repair cost, downtime, and casualty with a specific format as presented in this paper. Two analysis options are proposed: one...

Abstract
A probabilistic approach to modeling the seismic damage incurred by structural and nonstructural components is developed in this study. The resulting models are intended for use in detailed risk analysis of structures through structural reliability methods. The proposed modeling approach employs Bayesian linear regression to characterize the epistemic uncertainty in the model. In this approach, regressors are selected and constructed based on the mechanics of damage. In turn, the probability distributions of the model parameters and the model error are quantified by Bayesian linear regression using real-life data from laboratory experiments and/or post-earthquake inspections of damaged...

Optimizing Commercial Scheduling on TV Channels: Mathematical Model and Metaheuristic Algorithms
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Varmazyar, Mohsen (Supervisor)
Abstract
This thesis investigates the scheduling of television advertisements, which is critical for optimizing the efficiency and profitability of marketing campaigns for TV networks. Since its inception in the 1930s, television has been a cornerstone of advertising, enabling businesses to reach broad and diverse audiences. The evolution of TV advertising strategies, particularly with the rise of digital media competition, underscores the importance of effective advertisement scheduling to maintain relevance and effectiveness. To address this challenge, a comprehensive mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model was developed. This model incorporates various hypotheses to manage real-world...
Probabilistic Damage Models for Detailed Risk Analysis of Buildings with Reliability Methods

Abstract
A probabilistic approach to modeling the seismic damage incurred by structural and nonstructural components is developed in this study. For this purpose, Bayesian linear regression is employed to characterize the epistemic uncertainty in the model. In this approach, regressors are constructed based on the mechanics of damage. In turn, the probability distributions of the model parameters and the model error are quantified by Bayesian regression using real-life data from laboratory experiments and/or post-earthquake inspections of damaged components. The study presents the stepwise procedure of collecting the observations, quantifying the repair costs, developing model forms, performing model...

Abstract
Many patients all over the world suffer from acute wounds caused by traumas or burns. In most crucial cases, skin regeneration cannot be promoted spontaneously, and skin grafts are applied as the main treatment. However, this therapy has some drawbacks which motivate researchers to develop wound dressings. In this study, electrospun mats consisting of polycaprolactone (PCL) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) incorporated with silver sulfadiazine (SSD) are proposed to be used as antimicrobial wound dressings with the capability of cell seeding. Various amounts of SSD were loaded into PVA nanofibers, and the effects of SSD particles on the morphological characteristics of nanofibers, mechanical...
Deepfake Videos Detection through Deep Analysis of Artifacts of Images
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Ghaemmaghami, Shahrokh (Supervisor) ; Eghlidos, Taraneh (Supervisor)
Abstract
DeepFake is a type of forgery that uses deep learning algorithms to make changes to audio and video content that the audience is unable to detect. Nowadays, due to the threats posed by the use of DeepFake to move people's faces in video, researchers' attention has been drawn to designing methods to detect this type of forgery. Detection methods are usually classified into two types. The first case is the extraction of features to detect forgery distortions, for example, the extraction of facial orientations to detect inconsistencies. The second case is the use of deep learning networks for feature extraction and classification, of which the EfficientNet network is an example. Despite the...
Size-controlled synthesis of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles and their surface coating by gold for biomedical applications [electronic resource]
, Article Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials ; Volume 324, Issue 23, November 2012, Pages 3997–4005 ; Simchi, A ; Imani, M ; Costa, B.F.O ; Sharif University of Technology
Abstract
The size mono-dispersity, saturation magnetization, and surface chemistry of magnetic nanoparticles (NPs) are recognized as critical factors for efficient biomedical applications. Here, we performed modified water-in-oil inverse nano-emulsion procedure for preparation of stable colloidal superparamagnetic iron oxide NPs (SPIONs) with high saturation magnetization. To achieve mono-dispersed SPIONs, optimization process was probed on several important factors including molar ratio of iron salts [Fe3+ and Fe2+], the
