Numerical Investigation of the Performance of Concrete Beamcolumns with FRP Bars under Concentric and Eccentric Loading and Four-Points Bending
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Khaloo, Alireza (Supervisor)
Abstract
Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) bars with significant corrosion resistance lead to an improvement in the performance of concrete structures and a significant reduction in costs. High ratio of tensile strength to weight, non-conductive, and non-magnetic properties are other features of GFRP bars. Recent international design standards, such as ACI 440.1R-15 do not recommend including FRP reinforcement in compression, so they replace them by concrete in calculations. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of concentric and excentric axial loading on the axial capacity and ductility of GFRP reinforced concrete columns compared to steel reinforced concrete columns,...

Abstract
Modal identification is a type of system identification, which studies on the modal parameters of systems by using modal test. In the case of using operational or ambient modal analysis, there is no need to measure excitation, and the system output data are adequate for identification purposes. These modal parameters of system are of great importance from the engineering point of view particularly in the area of system identification, damage detection, and condition monitoring. In a fully-automated identification approach, the modal parameters are extracted without intervention of a specialized user. In this study, a Fully Automated Operational Modal Identification algorithm is developed to...
Neutron-Gamma Discrimination by a Dual Detector
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Vosoughi, Naser (Supervisor)
Abstract
This thesis examines various approaches of digital and analog methods of neutron - gamma discrimination. The analog detector used in this research is a type of 2inch and NE213 liquid scintillator. The applied analog discrimination method is the zero-crossing time and the Neutron Source is AmBe. In digital discrimination, the simulated pulses are generated and used for the experiment of the research. The method used to separate the data are two partitional clustering methods, namely FCM and K-Medoids. The FCM and K-Medoids are two data mining approaches in which the input data are grouped in two or more clusters based on their similarities. The merit of this approach is that this algorithms...

Abstract
In the present paper, the light output distribution due to poly-energetic neutron/gamma (neutron or gamma) source was calculated using the developed MCNPX-ESUT-PE (MCNPX-Energy engineering of Sharif University of Technology-Poly Energetic version) computational code. The simulation of light output distribution includes the modeling of the particle transport, the calculation of scintillation photons induced by charged particles, simulation of the scintillation photon transport and considering the light resolution obtained from the experiment. The developed computational code is able to simulate the light output distribution due to any neutron/gamma source. In the experimental step of the...
