Abstract
A generalized equation based on modified Eyring's theory for predicting kinematic viscosity of petroleum fractions is proposed in this work. The equation uses two reference fluids including a pair of (C6 and C10), (C10 and C14), or (C14 and C20) for petroleum fractions of molecular weight higher than 70 and lower than 300. Validity and accuracy of this equation have been confirmed by comparing the obtained results of this equation with experimental data. In contrast to other correlations that require so many specific parameters for oil viscosity prediction, this type of equation requires only molecular weight and true boiling point. The results obtained in this work are in agreement with...

Abstract
We have developed an environmentally friendly benign and practical protocol for the highly diastereo and chemo selective synthesis of some novel derivatives of 6-amino-4-aryl-3-oxo-2,3,3a,4-tetrahydro-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine-5-carbonitrile via a one-pot three-component reaction between arylaldehydes, malononitrile and 3-amino-1H-pyrazol-5(4H)-one in the presence of acetic acid as a catalyst and aqueous green medium at the ambient temperature. In this synthetic protocol, we highlight the utility of enaminone functional groups of 3-amino-1H-pyrazol-5(4H)-one for the synthesis of N-cyclized pyrazolone fused 3,4-dihydropyridine skeletons. Some important features of this new synthetic green...

Abstract
In this paper, a framework for effective factors on the occurrence of economic corruption is presented. Corruption issues as an existing challenge need to be addressed comprehensively and accurately. Various factors affect this issue, and the lack of precise and comprehensive identification of these factors can create a constraint, in which the main causes of corruption may not be addressed and efforts may focus on less important issues. The existence of a framework of factors helps by examining the level of these factors and makes it possible to identify the strengths and weaknesses of context and personal factors to design and implement corrective solutions and eliminating weaknesses, so...

Simulation and Analysis of the Coolant Mixing Test within the Reactor Pressure Vessel of BNPP Using ANSYS CFX 18.0
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Ghofrani, Mohammad Bagher (Supervisor)
Abstract
Various factors, such as increasing or decreasing the heat removal from the initial circuit, or increasing the flow rate of the cooling fluid in the reactor, causes the phenomenon of the coolant mixing in the PWR reactors. In this project, the thermohydraulic test of coolant mixing has been simulated in the pressure vessel of the Bushehr nuclear reactor. In this test, the mixing of the coolant caused by the reduction of heat removal from the primary circuit by the secondary circuit is investigated. In this case, the primary circuit temperature increases in the loop where the heat removal is reduced. The most important consequence of this event is the reactivity changes at the core of the...

"Aircraft Performance Enhancement via Mass Distribution Management"
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Malaek, Mohammad Bagher (Supervisor)
Abstract
This work describes a methodology to enhance aircraft performance via proper mass distribution management. The methodology aims to limit aircraft configuration in early stages of the design process to its desired performance. Mass Distribution Management (MDM), that is used in this work, is a new mathematical model which predicts the so-called aircraft Handling Qualities (HQ) via proper positioning of aircraft mass. This work shows how proper changes in B-747-100 fuel tanks arrangement can enhance its flight quality up to level one during its entire cruise flight without use of any stability augmentation systems. In general this work introduce a methodology to examine different fuel tanks...
Airport Capacity Determination by Fuzzy Logic
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Malaek, Mohammad Bagher (Supervisor)
Abstract
An automatic air traffic controller system is designed in this research. The major goal is to aid the human controller in decision making at real air traffic control situations. The air traffic system is modeled by queuing theory. Since respond rapidity is very important in air traffic control, so the fuzzy logic is utilized to construct a rule-base. This rule-base determines optimum policies while considering the operational matters, minimum separation distance requirements, air traffic controller techniques, and work-load. This project is an initial design for air traffic automation system which considers scheduling optimality as well as delay reduction. The case study is done on Denver...
Modification of Design Target Area, based on Aircraft Terrain Following Missions
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Malaek, Mohammad Bagher (Supervisor)
Abstract
This work investigates the possibility of developing suitable design guidelines for aircraft flying in very low altitude as well as terrain following flights (TFF). The work aims to highlight the TFF mission in the early stages of design process; as oppose to other mission conducted by the aircraft. Current approach in TFF relies heavily on efficient Flight Control System (FCS) regardless of the overall configuration of aircraft. However, in this work, we show not all aircraft in the service could conduct TFF and maneuverability of airplane is very important. In fact, we investigate the overall impact of TFF on the wing loading (W/S) and thrust loading (T/W); if we were to design an aircraft...
Management of System Requirements in Systems Engineering Process with Axiomatic Design Principles
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Malaek, Mohammad Bagher (Supervisor)
Abstract
Functional Requirements (FR) are traditionally known to be "input" as far as an engineering process is concerned. However, for a Systems Engineer (SE), this is not the case. A well-known task of a SE is, in fact, to develop FRs from what is considered as the customer needs. The traditional approach to develop suitable FRs involves an algorithmic procedure; which mostly relies on the skills, knowledge, attitude, and experiences of the SE or experts members of design team. It is therefore an ad-hoc method which results in quite a few numbers of trial-errors and its effectiveness only reveals itself as time goes on. The current work aims to address such a shortcoming in Systems Engineering...

Application of PSA Methods in the Reliability Analysis of EPSS of Busherhr NPP in case of Station Black Out
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Ghofrani, Mohammad Bagher (Supervisor)
Abstract
LOOP accident is one of the most important accidents in NPPS and it leads to loss of power supply of the RCP pumps which are the main pumps of primary circuit. Subsequently trip of the rector occurs. In safety analysis, concerning worst conditions, assumes that after a small period of time, main generator of plant stops working and loss of AC power supply of all power plant loads including safety systems ocures. To control of this accident, it’s necessary to startup and load backup power supply system (EDGs) for at least one safety channels, if not, the accident moves forwards and becomes S.B.O accident which is more important accident that ends to core damage because of stops working of all...
Investigating the Load Following Capabilities of Bushehr Power Plant Reactor
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Gofrani, Mohammad Bagher (Supervisor)
Abstract
Continuous variation of electrical loads in the power grid results in fluctuations of voltage frequency and. Accordingly, the need to the dynamic stability of the power grid would necessitates a constant balance between the production and consumption rates of electric power. In the same vein, given the launch of Bushehr nuclear power plant and its connection to the national electricity network, an investigation of the power plant’s capabilities in changing the produced power seems to be an important necessity.
Therefore, modeling the Bushehr reactor core in the DynCo code, the present thesis is aimed at investigating the reactor behavior during the power change periods with the...

Probabilistic Safety Assessment of A UF6 Production Process
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Ghofrani, Mohammad Bagher (Supervisor)
Abstract
Identification of different hazards in a UF6 production process, and evaluation of the risk originated from these hazards is the main objective of this project. A number of hazards are present in a typical UF6 production process, such as leakage of chemical gases like HF and F2 and also radioactive UF6 gas release. In order to evaluate risk due to these hazards, probabilistic approach has been used. Due to lack of probabilistic safety criteria (PSC) for chemical releases, only for UF6 gas release risk assessment has been done. As a first step in PSA of this process eight groups of initiating events have been identified using HAZOP study, and for each initiating event, event tree analysis...

(Supervisor)
Abstract
Airline scheduling is a dynamic process in nature such that it changes not only during one year period but also in smaller intervals due to the economic, political, religious, and social factors. Basically, airlines schedule planners through using mathematical models decide which flights are to be served in what periods of time and at what costs. This has to be done considering a set of constraints of different nature, from airspace and airport congestion up to climatic conditions or even crews working conditions. Such a complex problem requires different methods for an efficient solution. In this study by using network optimization method and applying different operational constraints on...
Model-Based Simulation of Surge and Active Controller Design of an Industrial Centrifugal Compressor applied in Gas Compression Systems
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Ghofrani, Mohammad Bagher (Supervisor)
Abstract
Efforts to model and control surge, as the underlying instability of centrifugal compressors, were conducted. Of the three major instabilities in compressors, namely chokage, stall and surge, the latter has a significant role in limiting the available range of operation in centrifugal compressors, which are the most common devices for the transportation of Natural gas. The customary method to circumvent surge, which if occurred, could impose severe, catastrophic and irreversible damages to the machine, is to avoid the zones in which it is likely to develop by means of a recycling system. These often called "surge avoidance" or "surge prevention" schemes have the benefit of high reliability,...
