Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Road traffic noise is a matter of challenge for both people and policymakers. For instance, the price of lands/houses which are close to road traffic noise is reduced. The key objective of this study is to propose a conceptual model to illustrate details of a road traffic noise model along with its policy and societal relevance. The second objective is to consider the honking of horns in such a conceptual model, as honking is a remarkable traffic noise factor, however, it has been neglected in some noise abatement policies. METHODS: By the use of previously proposed traffic noise models, some attempts were made to figure out how the models were applicable in...

Abstract
3D bioprinting is an advanced technology combining cells and bioactive molecules within a single bioscaffold; however, this scaffold cannot change, modify or grow in response to a dynamic implemented environment. Lately, a new era of smart polymers and hydrogels has emerged, which can add another dimension, e.g., time to 3D bioprinting, to address some of the current approaches’ limitations. This concept is indicated as 4D bioprinting. This approach may assist in fabricating tissue-like structures with a configuration and function that mimic the natural tissue. These scaffolds can change and reform as the tissue are transformed with the potential of specific drug or biomolecules released for...
Axial potential mapping of optical tweezers for biopolymer stretching: The bead size matters
, Article Optics Letters ; Volume 38, Issue 5 , 2013 , Pages 685-687 ; 01469592 (ISSN) ; Reihani, S. N. S ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
Optical tweezers (OT) are widely used for pico (and femto)-Newton range force measurements. The appropriate choice of the bead size is not well understood for biopolymer stretching applications of OT. We have shown, both by theory and experiment, that wrong choice of the bead size could cause errors as large as 295% in the measured force. We provide a simple map for correct choice of the bead size and the direction of pulling for such applications. There is a good agreement between our theoretical and experimental results

Abstract
The synthesis of diamino triphenyl methanes from aniline and aromatic aldehydes was conducted in near critical water and supercritical water. The reaction parameters, such as temperature, density, and reaction time, have been studied. Significant acceleration of the condensation reaction of aniline and aromatic aldehydes can be achieved by using high temperature water, especially near the critical point, in the absence of any acid catalysts. It has been demonstrated that high temperature water act effectively in the place of conventional acid catalysts

Abstract
Dyes have different categories, and each is used in one of the industries according to its appearance and physical characteristics. Dyes have severe toxicity and carcinogenic effects, which in water effluents contaminates the aquatic system and threatens other parts of the ecosystem and humans. Dye removal using absorption and photocatalytic properties has been the subject of various fundamental researches. Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) as a photocatalyst is a good choice because of its many excellent features, like adjustable optical band gap and excellent chemical and thermal stability. Although this catalyst has great potential to eliminate contamination, its use is limited because of...

Abstract
Motivated by the decompositions of sphere and QR-based methods, in this paper we present an extremely fast maximum-likelihood (ML) detection approach for quasi-orthogonal space-time block code (QOSTBC). The proposed algorithm with a relatively simple design exploits structure of quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) constellations to achieve its goal and can be extended to any arbitrary constellation. Our decoder utilizes a new decomposition technique for ML metric which divides the metric into independent positive parts and a positive interference part. Search spaces of symbols are substantially reduced by employing the independent parts and statistics of noise. Symbols within the search...
Amplitude reconstruction of clipped OFDM by using DFT-based least squares
, Article Scientia Iranica ; Volume 24, Issue 3 , 2017 , Pages 1353-1362 ; 10263098 (ISSN) ; Talebi, S ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
OFDM is an effective multicarrier transmission technique with one primary disadvantage; it suffers from high Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR). Although clipping and filtering is a simple and effective method for PAPR reduction, it makes in-band and out-of-band noise, which degrades the bit error rate performance and spectral efficiency. Publications on this subject show that clipped samples could be reconstructed at the receiver by using oversampled signal and bandwidth expansion. By building on published literature, this paper aims to achieve a low-complexity method. The proposed method has complexity order of O(L2) to solve linear system, where L indicates the number of clipped samples....

Abstract
In this study, antibacterial activity, biocompatibility, and corrosion resistance of 316 LVM implants were improved using the development of HAp/GO/Ag nanocomposite coatings by the dip-coating method. The XRD and FTIR results confirmed the synthesis of HAp/GO/Ag nanocomposites. HAp/Ag nanoparticles (68 nm) bound to epoxy, hydroxyl, and carboxyl functional groups on GO sheets (size of GO sheets varies from 255 to 1480 nm) by electrostatic interaction. FESEM images showed that HAp/GO/Ag coatings had higher density and fewer micro-cracks than pure HAp coatings. In addition, HAp/GO/Ag coatings showed optimized nano-hardness (4.5 GPa) and elasticity modulus (123 GPa). The results of...
