    Semantic Clustering of Persian Verbs

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Aminian, Maryam (Author) ; Sameti, Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Semantic classification of words based on unsupervised learning methods is a challenging issue in computational lexical semantics. The goal of this field of study is to recognize the words that are in the same semantic classes; i.e., can have the same set of arguments. Among all word categories, verb is known as one the most important and is assumed as the central part of the sentence in certain linguistic theories such as case grammar and dependency grammar. Based on Levin’s idea, diathesis alternations and the similarity between these alternations are the clues for the semantic classification of verbs. This idea is verified in languages such as English and German with promising results....

    Abstract
The subject of project scheduling is one of classic subjects in project management, and It contains the wide range of optimization problems. Using making changes in variables and constraints , it is possible to create new problems which seem better in the real world. Project tasks need resources for implementation. In some cases, it is considered that any time there are enough resources. In some other cases, it assumes, resources are limited, and resource optimum purchasing is the purpose, which this kind of issues is named resources investment problems (RIP). In this research it assumes, project necessary resources, are rented and renting costs depends on the time of owning. In standard...

Cross-Layer Design Based on Inter-Session Network Coding

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Aminian, Gholamali (Author) ; Golestani, Jamaloddin (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Network coding as an efficient approach for performance improvement of communication networks has been introduced by Ahlswede et al. Despite simple forwarding schemes, in network coding scenarios, intermediate nodes forward the encoded version of their received packets. In wireless Networks, resource allocation includes routing, network coding, flow control, scheduling and power control. In this dissertation a joint scheduling, routing, flow control and Inter-session NC formulation based on a convex optimization problem is studied. Our formulation integrates the optimal scheduling, flow control and Inter-session network coding with a modified version of minimum delay routing. We propose a way...

    Abstract
Automatic induction of semantic verb classes is one of the most challenging tasks in computational lexical semantics with a wide variety of applications in natural language processing. The large number of Persian speakers and the lack of such semantic classes for Persian verbs have motivated us to use unsupervised algorithms for Persian verb clustering. In this paper, we have done experiments on inducing the semantic classes of Persian verbs based on Levin's theory for verb classes. Syntactic information extracted from dependency trees is used as base features for clustering the verbs. Since there has been no manual classification of Persian verbs prior to this paper, we have prepared a...

    Abstract
Supplier selection is an important and challenging problem in sustainable supply chain management. We propose a dynamic decision support system (DSS) for sustainable supplier selection in circular supply chains. Unlike the linear take-make-waste-dispose production systems, circular supply chains are nonlinear make-waste-recycle production systems with zero-waste vision. The proposed DSS allows users to customize and weight their economic, social, and circular criteria with a fuzzy best-worst method (BWM) and select the most suitable supplier with the fuzzy inference system (FIS). Machine learning is used to maintain and synthesize the criteria scores for the suppliers after each supplier...

    Abstract
In the eld of supply chain, selecting a suitable green supplier could signi cantly help us decrease the cost and risks of the operations and increase the quality of green supply. This paper develops an integrated two-stage approach based on Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) and multi-objective mixed-integer linear programming to select suppliers and allocate order in the green supply chain. In the rst stage, suppliers are evaluated using FAHP method and in the second stage, a multi-product multi-period supply chain is developed considering green location-routing problem, discounting, and time window under uncertainty. Then, a fuzzy solution approach is applied to solve the proposed...

    Abstract
In this paper, we consider the bacterial point-to-point communication problem with one transmitter and one receiver by considering the ligand receptor binding process. The most commonly investigated signalling model, referred to as the Level Scenario (LS), uses one type of a molecule with different concentration levels for signaling. An alternative approach is to employ multiple types of molecules with a single concentration level, referred to as the Type Scenario (TS). We investigate the trade-offs between the two scenarios for the ligand receptor from the capacity point of view. For this purpose, we evaluate the capacity using numerical algorithms. Moreover, we derive an upper bound on the...

Adsorption of TiO2 nanoparticles on glass fibers

    , Article Journal of Physical Chemistry C ; Volume 111, Issue 27 , 2007 , Pages 9794-9798 ; 19327447 (ISSN) Khajeh Aminian, M ; Taghavinia, N ; Irajizad, A ; Mahdavi, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2007
    Abstract
Titania was deposited on glass fibers with a partial epoxy layer coating from a solution containing TiO2 nanoparticles at T = 90°C, and the adsorption process was examined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, and photocatalytic activity measurements. XPS data demonstrated that about 25% of the surface was covered with TiO2 nanoparticles, with 10% on the epoxy layer and 15% on the glass body. It was found that TiO2 nanoparticles can be readily adsorbed on epoxy groups, whereas they have a low tendency to adsorb on carbon polymer chains. This difference can be...

A green closed-loop supply chain network: A bi-objective mixed integer linear programming model

    , Article International Journal of Operational Research ; Volume 41, Issue 4 , 2021 , Pages 492-513 ; 17457645 (ISSN) Gholipour, S ; Salehian, F ; Lamouchi, H ; Mina, H ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The increasing level of customer awareness and application of environmental laws by governments, on the one hand, and the increasing number of competitors, on the other hand, has obliged industry owners to include green activities in the design of the supply chain network. Green activities include any type of action that reduces environmental degradation. Hence, this study seeks to develop a bi-objective, mixed integer linear programming (MILP) model for designing a green supply chain network. In the proposed model, the minimisation of costs and detrimental environmental effects are discussed. LP metric method is used to solve the bi-objective model and the proposed model is run by using...

Using Supported Ionic Liquid Membranes (SILMs) for Selective Separation of CO2/CH4

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology M.Barghi, Hamed (Author) ; Rashtchian ,Davood (Supervisor) ; Adibi, Mina (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Supported Ionic Liquid Membranes (SILMs) are fabricated by saturating the pores of a porous support with ionic liquids. To assess the performance of SILMS, it is necessary to obtain data about the properties of ionic liquids such as diffusivity, solubility, and etc. To accomplish this task, in this project the permeability and diffusivity of CO2 and CH4 through three immidazolium-based ionic liquids: [bmim][PF6], [hmim][Tf2N], and "1-methyl-3-(3- tri methoxi silil propyl) imidazolium bis (tri fluoro methyl solphonyl)" , in the temperature range between 27-45 ℃ and pressures within 10-50 kPa, are measured. It is shown in data validation section that the results of this study are in good...

Automated Code Reviewer Recommendation for Pull Requests

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Moosa Reza, Mina Sadat (Author) ; Heydarnoori, Abbas (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Nowadays, by distributed software development growth based on pull-requests, it is possible to review code changes before integrating into the master program by a third-party, informally and tool-based which is called Modern Code Review (MCR). Effectively performing MCR can facilitate the software evolution phase through reducing post-release defects. In MCR, after sending the pull request, the developer invites appropriate reviewers to inspect his code. Due to the high volume of requests and potential reviewers in many projects, selecting the appropriate reviewer is difficult and time consuming. Previously, a variety of recommender systems have been proposed that use methods based on...

Process Design of Ionic Liquid-Based CO2 Capture with Consideration of Economic and Environmental Issues

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Eidi, Ali (Author) ; Rashtchian, Davood (Supervisor) ; Adibi, Mina (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
Concerns have increased about global warming caused by CO2 emissions in the atmosphere. At the moment, carbon capture and storage is the best available solution. Among the current technologies for CCS, amine-based chemical absorption appears to be the most common method. Amines show several inherent drawbacks such as high vapor pressure, high energy consumption in regeneration, corrosivity and degradability. So, researchers have developed new solvents with the foresight of being superior to amines. Ionic liquids (ILs) are among the most suitable alternatives. The most prominent feature of ILs is their tunable thermophysical properties. In this work, physical absorption by ILs is chosen as...

    Abstract
Ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs) have been described to have positive effects on the gait biomechanics in stroke patients. The plantarflexion resistance of an AFO is considered important for hemiplegic patients, but the evidence is still limited. The purpose of this case series was to design and evaluate the immediate effect of an articulated AFO on kinematics and kinetics of lower-limb joints in stroke patients. The articulated AFO with the adjustment of plantarflexion resistance was designed. The spring generates a plantarflexion resistance of the ankle joint at initial stance phase. The efficacy of orthosis was evaluated on two stroke patients in 2 conditions: without an AFO and with the AFO....

    Elsevier Ltd  2020
    Abstract
Maximizing the value of resources and producing less waste are strategic decisions affecting sustainability and competitive advantage. Sustainable closed-loop supply chains (CLSCs) are designed to minimize waste by circling back (repairing, reselling, or dismantling for parts) previously discarded products into the value chain. This study presents a novel two-stage fuzzy supplier selection and order allocation model in a CLSC. In Stage 1, we use the fuzzy best-worst method (BWM) to select the most suitable suppliers according to economic, environmental, social, and circular criteria. In Stage 2, we use a multi-objective mixed-integer linear programming (MOMILP) model to design a...
