    Abstract
The development of deep neural networks is making tremendous progress in various fields, including processing Image, speech processing and other areas. Despite this tremendous achivement, neural networks have a lot of computational overhead and memory access that prevent them from being used in resource-constrained devices. We also know that many neural network applications are of great importance in mobile devices, and it is desirable for us to use their power in this regard. Many efforts have been done at different levels to solve the problem of executing deep neural networks on these devices. In this research, an approach based on offloading is used in which two different small (on the...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Amiri, Behnam (Author) ; Jahangir, Amir Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Intrusion detection systems’ test and evaluation is an active research area on which many researchers have been working for years. A complete and comprehensive test methodology that can be applied in reasonable time and cost is important and useful both to evaluate a newly designed system and to compare two or more existing systems to select an appropriate system for a particular network. In this research, we first determine the critical features of an IDS and then inspect methods and effective parameters that may influence the test process and propose a method for testing intrusion detection systems. In the proposed test methodology we only examine critical features which lake of them cause...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Amiri Chimeh, Hadiseh (Author) ; Nejat Pishkenari, Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Being harmless to living tissues makes magnetic robots very promising for medical applications. Furthermore, since these robots are driven by external magnetic fields, no actuators are needed to be placed on the robots, enabling them to come in very small dimensions if necessary. Motion control of small magnetic particles paves the way for future applications, such as deliberate drug-delivery, sampling, and lowinvasive surgeries. The goal of this research is to design and construct a platform for generating desired magnetic fields in order to control the motion of magnetic robots in threedimensional space. In order to do so, a system of eight electromagnetic coils with iron cores was built....

Experimental Investigation of the Effects of Suction and Wall Porosity on the Surface Pressure and Aerodynamic Forces in Transonic Wind Tunnel

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Amiri, Kaveh (Author) ; Soltani, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Transonic speed is one of the most important flight regimes. There are two main significances related to it. First, all of the supersonic air vehicles should pass through this regime to reach to their final speed. Second, nowadays most of the commercial airplanes fly in nearsonic speeds. According to nonlinear nature of the flow through the speeds, the related researchers haven’t been successful in development of a comprehensive theory as well as subsonic and supersonic ones. So, transonic flow is one of the most critical regimes in wind tunnel testing. In order to eliminate the shock-boundary layer interaction and wave cancellation, perforated walls and side suction are used in test section...

Control of Nonlinear Systems With Predefined Output Transient Performance

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kamal Amiri, Ali (Author) ; Shahrokhi, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This project is aimed to design a controller for nonlinear systems that satisfy a prescribed performance while guaranteeing close-loop stability. To do this, the controller must be designed in such a way that the transient response of the system has had these performance indices and does not exceed them. These performance indices predefine some constraints for systems’ output.A comprehensive form for the model system, the unknown dynamics of the system, consideration of a variety of constraints on the system input, usage of the time-finite method for the residence time and consideration of just one tuning parameter to reduce the computation load, are among the other benefits for the proposed...

After studying corrosion behavior, thickness, and coating morphology in different circumstances, the frequency of 50Hz, the current density of 150mA/cm2, and the coating time of 20 minutes were chosen as the optimum parameters. After that and with the usage of those parameters, ZrO2 nanoparticles were added to the...

Statistical Analysis of Dark Matter Halos in the Non-Linear Regime and Peaks of the Density Field in the Initial Conditions of the Cosmic Web

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Amiri, Mohammad Hossein (Author) ; Baghram, Shant (Supervisor)
    Abstract
When we talk about the large-scale structure of the cosmos and the cosmic web, one of the important issues is to examine the location of the structures formed. We use statistical characteristics to check the cosmic web. Nearest neighbor distribution, two-point correlation, count in cell, etc. are some of the parameters that help us in this way. Our main problem in this project is to examine these statistical parameters in large scale structure for two different time periods. First, in the time period near the present age(z ≈ 0), we want to check these parameters for the dark matter halos that have formed the structure, and secondly, for the initial conditions and transition to high...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Amiri, Mahsa (Author) ; Kazeminezhad, Mohsen (Supervisor) ; Kokabi, Amir Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Friction stir welding (FSW) is an appropriate method for joining Aluminum structures. In this method lots of defects involved in other methods are not formed and good properties are achieved for Aluminum joints. The metal sheets joined by this method are used to manufacture metal structures bodies. One of the important issues in the structure bodies used in transportation is the amount of energy absorbed in collision with other objects. One of the methods to investigate the energy absorption is wedge tearing test and one other is tensile test. In the preset study two sheets of Al 1050 were joined using FSW method in different tool rotational and welding speeds. Firstly, the microstructure of...

The Effect of Increasing The Value of Natural Gas Production on Property Value, Wages, Unemployment Rate and Birth Rate in The United States of America (2000-2011)

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Asgari, Mohammad Hossein (Author) ; Rahmati, Mohammad Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In the present study, the effects of increasing the value of shale gas production, either due to increased production or price increases, have been studied on economic variables such as employment, wage, property value and the number of births. In this regard, the data for each of these variables was used at the county level in the United States of America between 2000 and 2011. In order to estimate the desired effects, counties are divided into two types of boom and non-boom counties. The findings indicate that increasing natural gas production will lead to more employment and wage growth in boom counties than non-boom counties. Also, during the period of increasing production, the value of...

Inflationary Permanent and Long-Term Positive Interest Rate Shocks

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ahmadian, Mohammad Hesam (Author) ; Rahmati, Mohammad Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Co-movement between inflation and nominal interest in response to an interest rate shock, dubbed neo-fisherianism, has been the subject of contentious debate since the advent of non-inflationary ZLB environment. We design an economic model rich with banking features to understand the economic responses to permanent and long-term interest rate shocks. We find that responses to a permanent positive interest rate shock depend on the monetary authorities’ speculation of the new long-term inflation rate, with the most probable outcome being a permanent increase in inflation. Responses to a long-term positive interest rate shock depict an increase and then decrease in inflation. We also discover...

Learning Interpretable Representation of Drugs based on Microscopy Images

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Sanian, Mohammad Vali (Author) ; Rohban, Mohammad Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study, we aim to learn representations from microscopic cell images that effectively capture the features of drugs affecting the cells, allowing us to identify effective drugs for treating a disease. We employ two parallel learning paths using predictive and generative models. Specifically, we have achieved a predictive model on the RxRx19a dataset that, unlike previous models, is interpretable, optimized, and robust to dras- tic changes in drug properties. Additionally, we have developed the first generative model on this dataset, which not only generates high-quality images but also discovers a meaningful latent space. This latent space divides the representation into relevant...

, Article Information Sciences, Elsevier ; Volume 278, 10 September 2014, Pages 498–509 Neghabi, H. (Hossein) ; Eshghi, Kourosh ; Salmani, Mohammad Hassan ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
The Facility Layout Problem (FLP) is the problem of locating each department in a long plant floor without any overlap between departments in order to minimize the material handling cost. The main purpose of this study is to show the effectiveness of a robust approach to solve FLP. In this study, it is assumed that the departments’ length and width are not predetermined. For modeling this kind of uncertainty, the size of each department is considered as a bounded variable and two new parameters are also introduced to implement a robust approach. Moreover, a new adaptive algorithm is designed to determine the robust layout with respect to the decision makers’ requirements. Furthermore, the...
